Hi Boz! Our fellow forum member Librettist posted this on Monday:
(Saburo) Had a setback that will keep him off until August/September according to Jim Bolger.

While it’s disappointing the Coventry entries were not a shock thankfully
All aboard the Saburo Express, final destination 2000 Guineas via the Dewhurst
June 13, 2013 at 17:00 #442670Last chance saloon for
Club Wexford
today. Worth a tipple at Even money but he isn’t one to go overboard on with plenty of support for the Hamdam Al Maktoum horse and a couple of unraced sorts that I know nothing about.
6.25 Leopardstown
Club Wexford
€20 win @ 1/1 (Ladbrokes)- €1
June 13, 2013 at 18:02 #442674Club Wexford
won like his form entitled him to. I felt he should have went for a similar race after his debut, so it was interesting to hear Jim Bolger’s comments post race. He said that he felt compelled to run something in those Listed races, in support of Irish racing. That may be well and good for Irish racing, but is it good for the horse? Club Wexford showed no ill effects tonight and will now have a break.
+ €41
June 16, 2013 at 10:54 #442913We’ll Go Walking
re-emerges today Tommy, FINALLY stepping up to mile and a half, albeit in a much tougher race. Apparently something was definitely reported to be amiss last time out so she could be forgiven her run, although the mile certainly wasn’t for her. Kevin Manning’s deserted her but I’m still hopeful of a big run. Any thoughts mate?
June 16, 2013 at 12:14 #442920Hi Boz, to be honest I haven’t really looked at today’s races. Was out on the town last night, think I’m about to have a bull calf. On first look I’d find it hard to oppose Weld’s filly but she’s short enough in the betting too, looks very open. We’ll Go Walking’s last run was too bad to be true and I see the 8/1 is all gone now. I won’t be betting but I’ll shout her on for you

I was talking to a fella last night who has ridden work for a good few trainers around the south east here. Said the word is Saburo is only average, and Club Wexford is a better horse
However I’d rather believe what I see with my own eyes and as long as his setback is not too serious I’m keeping the faith. Now, hopefully Ryan Moore will be confirmed to ride Sir John Hawkins
June 17, 2013 at 18:32 #443039The first two bets of what will probably be quite a busy week.
I missed the 11/4 on
Magician
by about 5 minutes, had him in the Boylesports bet slip and received a phone call I had to answer
I think 5/2 is worth a punt tomorrow. I was strongly against him for the Irish 2000 Guineas, as he hadn’t shown enough for me to warrant his price. What followed was a superb performance where he pulverized his rivals. I have great respect for Bolger and Dawn Approach but he had a horrible experience in the Derby and that wasn’t so long ago. At the end of the day both he and Toronado need to bounce back to form whereas if Magician replicates his Curragh run it will take a performance of the calibre of Dawn’s Guineas to put it up to him imo.The other one I’ve backed is
Sir John Hawkins
. I’ve already wrote a fair bit about what I think of him. 6/1 is a fair price, I can see him finishing fats and mowing down Stubbs in the final half furlong, but will he get there?
St James’s Palace
Magician
€20 win @ 5/2 (Boyles)Coventry
Sir John Hawkins
€10 e/w @ 6/1 (PP)Other horses I’ll probably be backing are Sole Power, Leading Light, Rizeena, Coach House, Declaration Of War, Rite Of Passage, Chigun, Cape Peron and that’s just off the top of my head there’ll likely be more!
June 18, 2013 at 10:15 #443096Have backed Aidan O’Brien’s
Justification
in the Ascot Stakes. He endured a troubled run in the Chester Vase and was finishing well that day. He’s off the same mark today and with a clearer run should go close.
Ascot Stakes
Justification
€7.50 e/w @ 15/2 (WH)- €14
June 18, 2013 at 13:21 #443115Paddy Power are offering money back on all losers in the Queen Anne if Animal Kingdom wins. I’m backing
Elusive Kate
and
Declaration Of War
at a combined price of about 7/2. Elusive Kate has Group 1 form in the book which most of this field are lacing. DOW is probably a better horse than we’ve seen on the track. He was backed as if defeat was out of the question for the Lockinge and is worth a chance at a price today.
Queen Anne
Elusive Kate
€7.50 win 8/1 (PP)
Declaration Of War
€7.50 win 9/1 (PP)- €29
June 18, 2013 at 13:59 #443123Sole Power
is suited to the frantic nature of these big field sprints and he should have a part to play in the Kings Stand. At 8/1 with Ladbrokes (who are paying money back if your horse finishes 2nd in any Royal Ascot race) he’s too big. Hopefully they’ll go like the clappers and he’ll cut them down late.
Kings Stand
Sole Power
€5 e/w 8/1 (L)- €39

June 18, 2013 at 14:23 #443127Well in there sir. That’s how you start a meeting !
June 18, 2013 at 15:53 #443142We just saw a special performance from
War Command
, and as a
Saburo
backer for the 2000 Guineas that has left me quaking! The only thing for it is to bet the O’Brien horse too and pray the two of the battle it out next year

Sir John Hawkins
ran well, was a bit green but thankfully wasn’t knocked about. There will definitely be more days for him

2000 Guineas 2014
War Command
€10 e/w @ 10/1 (Ladbrokes)- €49
June 18, 2013 at 16:00 #443146Good start THM!

Irish bookmakers will be going broke by the end of the week.Value Is EverythingJune 18, 2013 at 16:05 #443147Thanks GT, hopefully we’ll still be smiling come Saturday evening

I’ve followed you in on War Command, if Ladbrokes hold out until the end of the day I’ll be surprised!
