Thank you all for nice comments
Now back on topic
Now gord you missed my post to you on handicaps
KILLER CROW for martin pipe
THUNDER ZONE for fred winter
Can you see Gordon Elliot picking up few races at festival ,i think he win a handicap or two.
February 5, 2015 at 12:29 #504182Bloody hell I’m just praising you pair on Boz’z thread and now you are here in the Cauldron, the Cauldron where magic is created from years of secret recipes.Where legend is formed and Ante-Post coups written in stone will be unveiled like a Michaelangelo bronze,of course I have balls of Steel not Bronze supported in a Crystal Jock strap. Those who have witnessed the unleashing of my Sword know when I strike its only after many candles have been burned and in the gloom of this smoke filled cauldron filters burning embers of form, form so many forget…..I see a sign……
Holywell
.
I looked into my wizards glass, and i saw a ginger haired goblin with green eyes trying to dip a soup bowl into the cauldon. A little owl flew from a book shelf, and chased him away. The owl then morphed into a fella with an irn bru bottle, who shouted ‘what bets you got cauldron and what do you think will win the derby and do you like irn bru, also what you think of britneys new song’ ? before trying to fill his bottle with some contents from the brewing potion, which sadly melted the glass, and turned the owl into a 4 foot troll with face warts. There was also an old witch heard saying to a half-man half leprechaun " word ‘as it the king is brewing something in that castle of ‘is, tommy", before winking at him and handing him an apple with letters ‘TNT’ etched on the side.
You a strange one wolfie you are

February 7, 2015 at 13:24 #504447And so the Mullins merry go round begins – not a good sign Gord with Your Supreme selection getting hammered 20s into 7s for the Neptune
I look long and hard for a ‘Supreme’ horse Gary and I believe I’ve found one in
Alvisio Ville
but like you say he’s been backed for the ‘Neptune’ instead.Tomorrow will tell us which race he goes for and victory in the ‘Delloitte’ virtually guarantees victory at Cheltenham.TAPK has 10/1 about him in both but with ‘Douvan’ being many folks banker it certainly looks like the longer race is favoured,we’ll see.
February 7, 2015 at 17:17 #504525The Arkle 2m
No way could I take Ladbrokes 7/4 about this over-hyped ‘Un de Sceaux’ winning this,he’s Lay material.I can see him hairing off and falling early,Cheltenham will catch him out.I reckon ‘Vautour’ would be a far better proposition for this as he has everything ‘Champagne Fever’ has and more.
I rate ‘Gilgamboa’ as a serious Chaser and 12/1 appeals far more than the 10/1 about ‘Josses Hill,if ever a horse had bookies running scared its this fellow,he should be 20/1 for this.I thought ‘Vaniteaux’ was an ideal candidate for this but Nicky keeps finding one too good for him over hurdles,he could still surprise and turn up yet.My long term Arkle horse was ‘MTOY’ but injury has ruled him out of the whole campaign and he was my first Ante-Post casualty having backed him at 20/1 last year.
The horse that has really got his act together this season isVibrato Valtat
and at 20/1 looks a solid e/w proposition,he has Grade 1 form something the Fav hasn’t and he’s run around Cheltenham which is also bodes well, with ‘Ptit Zig’ looking all over a 21/2m sort the doors open for his stable companion here.No way will he go off 20/1 on the day.
Edit 03/02/15
, ‘Un des Sceaux’ sits Odds-on for this now and the race could cut up because of it,my fellow has been solidly supported into 14/1 and still looks a solid place bet, anything happens to the Fav and
Vibrato Valtat
will trade single figures.
Edit,07/02/15
,
Vibrato Valtat
keeps delivering,he ticks every box for the Arkle and trades as low as 7/1 now after cruising round Warwick today.Even money was Xmas!
Selection,; Vibrato Valtat 20/1 e/w
Dont worry folks TAPK wont do an AP and retire….Legends aren’t born they’re created!
February 7, 2015 at 22:14 #504575Gord: what did you think of Taquin’s run?
February 7, 2015 at 22:43 #504582As night turns to day so too will the Musical chairs of Willie Mullins Cheltenham horses targets…
Vautour
is a proper Grade 1 Champion over 2m imo,but not Mullins.
Valseur Lido
has a very ‘Sir des Champs’ look about him but he could still be an RSA sort.Of course if that is the case my own RSA selection
Rule the World
could drop back to the Jewson trip of 21/2m such is the race planning these days. However the skill to Ante-Post success isn’t about the race its about the horse,of course the problem here is you have to back your selection for both possible targets thus losing 50% of your stakes, some might say thats dreadful…Not me,you have to speculate to accumulate and you have to get in early. My Ante-Post portfolio looks like it does every year…Incredible! Thats because I support my opinion of a horse way before others have an opinion and I see massive flaws in Bookmakers pricing.Incredibly Ladbrokes are the worst at seeing a horses potential, that suits me just fine.A horse who is still over-priced for this years festival is
Rule the world
,Bookmakers are still offering 40/1 about his JLT chances and 40/1 about his RSA chances…Talk about short memories, this fellow has been Cheltenham twice, both occassions, the festival in March,he’s been 2nd to ‘The New One’ and possibly his best run ever behind ‘More of That’ in the World hurdle. This fellow is being trained for a visit to Cheltenham again in March and granted good ground he’ll make his prescence felt whatever race he targets.
A £100 e/w at 40/1 in the JLT returns £5200,exactly the same as it would in the RSA,if he’s placed in either he returns £1100 and that still shows a profit of £700.Come March this fellow will be less than half the price he is now so in effect the £200 instant loss of running in one race or the other has already been returned because of the 40/1.Of course the horse has to turn up and at least place and thats where one has to be an excellent judge…..No danger there then!
I useRule the World
as a fine example here because he at least is still flying under the radar….Well until tomorrow he is!! Of course I could use
Dodging Bullets,40/1-5/1
,
Holywell,50/1-16/1
,
Saphir du Rheu,33/1-7/1
,
Vibrato Valtat,20/1-6/1
.The cynics of course will say…’Yeh they’ve got to win yet’..TAPK says…’Thats the easy bit’
‘Confidence is King’!February 7, 2015 at 22:49 #504584Gord: what did you think of Taquin’s run?
Those who cant see the wood from the trees will be dissapointed Gary….I however saw the Ryanair Winner.
Taquin de Seuill
will never be a horse who wins a Dressage he has an ungainly style of running but when he’s right he jumps well and travels well, apart from skewering one today he jumped well,he also travelled lovely,he just isn’t a 3m horse and for me the 2m 5f around Cheltenham is perfect, his JLT run tells us that.At 16/1 he is a certainty to place at least, come the day he’ll be single figures.
February 8, 2015 at 14:55 #504662Oi oi – what a ride from Carberry on Apache Stronghold, bring on the festival
February 8, 2015 at 15:21 #504673Tommy you aren’t unlike myself, you know a good one when you see one,you dont interpret form literally which is crucial and around Cheltenham
Rule the world
will beat his Gigginstown conqueror today ‘Wounded Warrior’.The question is like you say will he actually stay the trip? Mouse Morris is training him for Cheltenham but they thought he’d win today for sure as 6/4 tells you that stable money was on.Why I cant see him running in the JLT is because I really think
Valseur Lido
is their ‘Sir des Champs’ for the race so there’s no point running ‘Rule the World’ there.Of course musical chairs is the name of the game these days and ‘Don Poli’ could go RSA and ‘Rule the world’ the 4 miler!!

Sorry for the late reply Gord, but just on interpreting form literally. I think it could be dangerous to take the Drinmore form literally myself. Valsuer Lido looked a horse on the top of his game and everything went right for him. Copper glued him to the rail and he got a lovely run into the straight. At the other end of the spectrum everything went wrong for Apache Stronghold. He followed Real Steel out to his left the whole way round and by the time he got on an even keel in the straight Valseur had flown. Whether they go 2.5m or 3m with either of these horses at Cheltenham, I’d give Apache Stronghold a big chance of reversing the form.
What’s that term you like to use Gord, word-perfect?

Totally Tommy,as soon as I saw the result I thought of you.I hope you were on.I always praise foresight and thats brilliant mate….See its not just me that can do it!
My RSA horse from last year just won the Hennessey and traded at 100’s in running…I stayed loyal toLord Windermere
,who’s just ran a proper Gold cup trial himself.I hope VTC was on!
February 8, 2015 at 18:51 #504705Depending on him getting assigned a low enough mark, I wonder if the novice HDCP might be a better plan for RTW Gord?

You’re not joking Milbear, this is not the
Rule the world
that was bang there jumping the 2nd last in the World hurdle last year…A mark of 140 would get him in the Novice handicap for sure and I’m convinced he’s being prepared for something.Sadly what does concern me is that ‘Mouse’ trained his half brother
Venalmar
a horse who also ran a blinder at the festival as a hurdler but deteriorated over fences thereafter. We’ll see but if he turns up at Cheltenham he’s there for a reason so I’ll keep an eye on him.

Thanks Gord, I’ve never shouted one home like I did the Apache today, biggest win of the season, and what meant just as much was how much I’ve spoken about him with friends and on here. A proper chaser and a big player in the JLT, where I’m on at 20’s.
Was disappointed with Rule The World, who I thought would run a big race. He emptied pretty quickly after the second last and I’d wonder if something was amiss.
Lord Windermere showed a lot more today than he did in the Lexus and his Gold Cup supporters will take heart from that. My Boston Bob was let down by his jumping, not for the first time, and was slow at his fences at crucial stages.
The reception AP McCoy received today, firsty after winning the handicap hurdle on Sort It Out, and more so when winning the Hennessy, was amazing.
February 8, 2015 at 22:27 #504734THM: The Apache has come good, we have both been quoted on here stating VL would not beat the Apache going left handed, bring on better ground and the result will be a win by further IMO. VL was very brave and battled well.
Tell us More would be a nice double but that’s being greedy
February 9, 2015 at 09:51 #504761What a sporting bunch we are on here, what a bunch of incredible judges we are too and to boot not one of us has an ego!A great days racing at Leopardstown and a meeting I would so love to go to,trouble is I’ve never actually been to Ireland so if I booked a flight to Leopardstown I’d probably end up in some Mud hut in Zimbabwe.
