Is Frodon going to run here next?
He’s 16/1 and for sure is looking unlikely to defeat Un De Sceaux or Top Notch but between those two and himself in the betting are Fox Norton (unlikely runner), Waiting Patiently (unlikely runner), Min (unlikely runner), Yorkhill (unlikely runner), Road To Respect (unlikely runner), Douvan (unlikely runner), Coney Island (unlikely runner), Djakadam (unlikely runner) and Balko De Flos (unlikely runner).
Therefore, the Nicholls’ horse is perhaps not the worst each-way bet in the world given his course form and upward trajectory. That is unless connections vie to either shoulder top weight in one of the handicaps or avoid the festival all together and head to Aintree.
January 28, 2018 at 19:03 #1339621Charles why you saying that Waiting Patiently and Fox Norton unlikely runners? what have you heard.
January 28, 2018 at 21:57 #1339648Frodon needs it soft or worse over this trip to be at his best I feel.
Waiting Patiently will run here though i’d think, as will Disko if they can get him back as well as Balko Des Flos.
February 14, 2018 at 19:03 #1342222I’ve just taken 7s NRNB Waiting Patiently before he wins at Ascot and moves to dispute favs here.
February 14, 2018 at 19:20 #1342228Quite like the way Valseur Lido has ran on his last couple of starts as well as last year. Looks like he is travelling really well in his races and dying for a shorter trip. No idea if he is being aimed at the race at all though
February 14, 2018 at 19:21 #1342229Trouble is Ruth has said Cloudy Dream definitely goes Ryanair Joe?
I wouldn’t think she will run them both in this would she?
February 14, 2018 at 19:56 #1342235Raymo, she says she’ll decide after Saturday – no question which is more progressive and he handled good to soft fine last twice. NRNB anyway.
February 14, 2018 at 20:08 #1342238Do we not think that Waiting Patiently would only be asked to run at the Festival if the ground was sufficiently slow enough and if that were the case then surely connections would opt for the Champion Chase?
February 14, 2018 at 20:39 #1342245According to this, the Ryanair is the only Cheltenham option and he isn’t ground dependent.
February 17, 2018 at 18:34 #1342806Bookies went OTT in pushing out a horse for once in Top Notch.
Had a point on e/w at 8/1, think he’ll have improved for the run along with better ground.
February 17, 2018 at 18:38 #1342809Fair shout that, Kev. Waiting Patiently, Douvan, Fox Norton, Min all unlikely to run. That alone makes Top Notch deserving of being much shorter.
February 17, 2018 at 19:33 #1342816I think it is best to run Cue Card here, but after the interview with RacingUK I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the Gold Cup again.
February 17, 2018 at 21:40 #1342843Why is Fox Norton unlikely to run?
February 18, 2018 at 16:01 #1342933It looks like being one of the races of the week again this year, and I will add Benin Des Dieux at 16-1 to replace my Coney Island selection, which must be in doubt now
February 18, 2018 at 16:24 #13429362 weeks ago Colin Tizzard was heard as saying that he wants to go for the Champion Chase with Fox Norton given how he was so close last year but by all accounts as soon as he saw Altior at Newbury he changed tack and now the Fox looks pretty nailed on to line up here. I find this disappointing given that you should never be afraid of one horse but there you have it. Despite this I’ve never really been in love with the horse (although I respect him massively) and I’d be against him for any race at the Festival.
I don’t think Waiting Patiently will run and even if he did I do worry about the ground for him despite what connections say and the course as well. Top Notch is becoming frustrating now he keeps on coming up short when pitched in at the highest level, similar to his hurdles form. Douvan, Min, Yorkhill, Djakadam and Coney Island are looking like heading elsewhere or avoid the week all together and Frodon, Benie Des Dieux and Cloudy Dream will probably all come up short.
As much as it pains me to say it, Un De Sceaux is a previous Ryanair winner (and Arkle winner/Champion Chase runner-up) and even despite that has the best form in the book so I wouldn’t put anyone off taking the 3/1 now considering how this Mullins job will probably head off 7/4 favourite.
February 24, 2018 at 16:20 #1343843Cue card definitely comes here
February 26, 2018 at 16:19 #1344088Fox Norton out.
