Lots of generalisations about “the left” and “the far left,” GT – a fair few about “the right” as well.
The past is in the past, but I will start noting and highlighting future instances.
I’m sure I won’t have long to wait.
We are all individuals with individual value systems – none of us should just be lumped in with any broad brush political label or political figure.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 12, 2022 at 20:29 #1582915That’s the whole point of saying about Corbyn and Abbott in this thread, Ian.
Many people voted Labour in the last election.
All those voting Labour were as you say “individuals with individual value systems”, in reality very few were far left in their own views. But what they would’ve got had Labour been successful is a far left Putin loving neo-Communist government led by Corbyn.
Can you not see that?Corbyn and Abbott’s attitude to the Ukraine crisis proves the point.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 12, 2022 at 20:31 #1582916I can see it, but I’m not sure of its relevance to anything, tbh.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 12, 2022 at 20:37 #1582920Relevance is that had Labour won the last election we would’ve had a Putin loving, NATO hating, neo-communist government in power in Britain at this hour of Ukraine / Russia (Putin) crisis.
tbh Taking that into account I think even Starmer is glad Boris won the last election.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 12, 2022 at 20:43 #1582921But isn’t it just meaningless “whatiffery?”
Neither of the main parties had a suitable leader at the last election – worst choice for the moderate in my lifetime.
Had Corbyn won, a Labour version of GT might be saying: “Can you imagine what it would be like if that gung ho Churchill wannabe Johnson had won? We’d be at all-out War with Russia by now!”
It’s all meaningless speculation about what might have happened if things had panned out differently.

We can see what Boris is doing now.
And
We can see what Corbyn and Abbott are saying about the crisis now.
Had Corbyn’s government been in power it’s bloody obvious C&A would’ve been pro Putin and dissing our allies NATO, just like they’re doing now.Value Is EverythingFebruary 12, 2022 at 21:09 #1582926Corbyn and Abbott are not the Labour Party. I have a running battle with Abbotts supporters.. Chris Williamson was in my local Labour group and lived in my village. He’s a complete nutcase.

But they’re not, so they can’t.
I just don’t get why it matters.

I was talking to a geriatric oak tree the other day who said the same thing.
February 12, 2022 at 21:17 #1582929I’m going to have to go away and try to work out if I’ve just been insulted or not.
I may be gone some time….

Although I can only applaud your use of the correct ‘try to’ instead of the awful ‘try and’.

February 13, 2022 at 11:59 #1582985“Corbyn and Abbott are not the Labour Party. I have a running battle with Abbotts supporters”..
Correct, “Corbyn and Abbott are not the Labour Party”.
But Corbyn was labour’s leader at the last election and his shadow cabinet was dominated by far left colleagues, Moe’. NOT the type of Labour MP’s you like or the type most Labour voters like. ie Had “Labour” (as a party) been elected then most Labour voters would not have got what they actually wanted. Because we would now have a government (those actually in the shadow cabinet not the whole party) dominated by Putin loving, NATO hating, neo-communists at the time of this Ukraine / Putin crisis.Putin thrives on allied disunity and a (Corbyn led) Labour British government would have weakened the allies enormously.

No we wouldn’t.
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysFebruary 13, 2022 at 14:53 #1583009As it is we’ve got a government made up of weak second rate politicians chosen purely for their devotion to Johnson and brexit. Corbyn moved all of the decent experienced politicians to the back benches for the same reason. It’s been an awful time for British politics over the past few years. I mean, Nadine Dorries as culture minister. What’s that about!
February 13, 2022 at 14:58 #1583011Care to share with us why, Purwell?
