Unlikely Silviniaco Conti will be given an entry for the RSA, so might be worth backing a bigger-priced horse you fancy sooner rather than later.
January 26, 2012 at 13:12 #388339Grands Crus misses Saturdays Argento so looks a much more likely runner in the RSA now. Bobs Worth will probably be 10/1 on the day if GC runs….
January 26, 2012 at 15:46 #388356Hidden Cyclone will give the festival a miss this season(confirmed). I’m not suprised as i gave this horse a swerve earlier because i suspected he might not go. At least they didn’t delay until the last minute until ‘they talk to connections’. Although that’s not much consolation for those who have already backed him.
January 26, 2012 at 16:01 #388359I can’t understand why they didn’t say all of this on Monday or Sunday, whenever it was Shark made comments to the press about the horse. In any case, entries were made on Tuesday at lunchtime, so why take 2 days to tell us!?! It really doesn’t help our game out at all.

I agree with Zarkava. I backed Hidden Cyclone only two days ago on the back of Hanlon’s quotes. Although he intimated that they might wait with the horse, the main thing that I took from his words was that the RSA was very much the target. I took 25s at Hills and was reassured when yesterday Hills cut it to 20s. I know the risk of antepost betting, but if you intend skipping a big festival, why not just come out and say that? I was even thinking of putting Hidden Cyclone into some each-way trebles. Glad I resisted that particular temptation.
January 26, 2012 at 18:06 #388378I’ve e-mailed Hills about getting it voided or a free bet to the same stake since I placed a bet on him yesterday at 3.39am, when the horse already hadn’t been entered, which therefore made the bet an automatic loser. I’ll let you know how I get on.
I have a much bigger bet that I placed in December which of course is a loser, it’s just the principal of placing a bet when the bet has a 0% chance of being successful. There is no supplementary stage for anything other than the 5 Championship races before anybody asks.
February 7, 2012 at 12:25 #390179Major Punt going on First Lieutenant (or is it a few fivers EW?
), price now crashed to 8s/9s. Well done to all those who maintained he was overpriced.
I’m hoping they still run Last Instalment in this and keep Sir Des Champs for the Jewson.February 7, 2012 at 13:55 #390189Shack: Money is due to Pricewise putting him and Siliniano Conti up for the race

Ah, should’ve guessed! Even still, must be some big money in relative ante-post terms for the price to crash in half.
Menorah didnt quite go the same way! Can’t have Silv C at all.February 8, 2012 at 11:44 #390293Mmmmmm, Pricewise

Why is it, I wonder, that whenever I fancy a horse and then Pricewise goes for it, they NEVER seem to win?
It has happened over and over again, I know it makes no sense whatsoever but it’s got so ridiculous that after I’d narrowed down the recent Betfred chase to two, On Borrowed Wings or Blazing Bailey and I opened the RP only to find he’d gone for the same two I swore if they both went down from that day on if we doubled up again I’d change my selection.
I was already leaning slightly towards Last Instalment rather than First Lieutenant, I can’t see past these two except possibly Grand Crus…..I posted these two a week or so ago, but First Lieutenant did me a big favour last year.
?????????????????????

For a split second I was happy to see that Tom Segal had put up First Lieutenant after he’d been my only fancy for the race since last March, until I considered the other tat he’d put up so far
February 15, 2012 at 16:15 #391494Last Instalment injured according to RP
February 15, 2012 at 16:19 #391495Yeah he’s out, which is great news for anybody who’s backed Sir Des Champs for this race because it’s surely very likely he’ll run in this now rather than the Jewson.

B*mmer double Whammy as I had a decent bet on LI for the RSA and SDC for the Jewson. BUT, they have First Leiutenant for the RSA and Bog Warrior unlikely to be risked (especially in the light of this injury).
February 15, 2012 at 16:59 #391509Me and you in the same position Shack. The perils of ante post. Oh god.
Believe it or not i was topping up a few bets yesterday and was going to slam a few points on LI but remembered the concerns about the ground and decided to hold fire. Also he was not going to shorten tremdously with the hot favourite. So i guess i dodged a bullet or two in the end.
February 15, 2012 at 17:01 #391510Dodged a few bullets…. doesn’t matter when the grenade blew off the rest of the bet.

Ah well, just let off a bit of steam and then think of all the portfolio bets that are far shorter now than you’ve got. Everything looks ok again
