Never doubted for a moment that Bobs Worth would show them all the way up the hill. I love that little horse.
March 14, 2012 at 15:48 #396630aye. he’s tough as teak and his win to run ratio is highly impressive. to beat a tough battler like first leuitenant (sorry about the spelling) shows he’s got a huge heart.
one thing i’ve learnt from this years cheltenham already is that some horses that have struggled all season with their jumping, when they get to cheltenham they jump much better out of the quick ground, and somehow the pace of the race forces them to concentrate and they make very few mistakes.
neither bobs worth or the runner up touched a twig today and neither did cue card yesterday, when he’d had a lot of problems with his jumping.
March 14, 2012 at 16:00 #396645Forgive you the spelling so long as you pronounce it in the English way!

March 14, 2012 at 18:33 #396706Well done Bobs Worth backers.
Grands Crus didn’t get home as many believed he wouldn’t – nor did he show any heart for even a brief battle.
QM might have been the race for him.
March 14, 2012 at 19:09 #396716Great run by Bobs Worth. Expect Gold Cup for both him and Grands Crus next year.
Grands Crus badly hampered when sandwiched two out. Think he would have gone a lot closer. Pleased to have got on early!
March 14, 2012 at 21:35 #396763Wow – the favs are really coming a cropper.
Bobs Worth always looked like he’d appreciate this test but I did think Grand Crus would stay and have too much toe. Deffo a Ryanair horse now!
Bobs Worth will will plenty more top races purely by attitude.

March 15, 2012 at 01:23 #396860I think they should have went off in front like Kepton where he blitzed them, why do people think he wouldnt stay?He pinged away making a lenght at nearly every fence and Scu had to pull him back not to get to the front,he should have bowled out and jumped them into the ground-Not biased i backed B.Worth.
March 15, 2012 at 11:25 #396914Grands Crus is ALWAYS held up early to settle him. Even at Kempton before going on later in the race. Had he gone on yesterday he’d be going too fast and wouldn’t have got home. A slower pace is to his advantage because he’s speedy for one who "stays". Although it is possible he didn’t stay yesterday, does have a rounded action and I think it’s more probable he wouldn’t let himself down on the ground (times suggest it is firmer than official, not watered before yesterdays racing). Did get tight between horses, but he’s used to that and shouldn’t have worried him.
However,
Looking at David Pipe’s runners this week, quite a lot have been going well two out and not found much under pressure. Something which sometimes happens when there’s a minor virus in the yard. Having said that, there’s not enough evidence yet. Could well have a double today.
(Old horses like Buena Vista often immune).Value Is EverythingMarch 16, 2012 at 01:03 #397123Thought this looked poor and thought Mr Moonshine worth a small go.
Wide of the mark as ever and pleased that my 2011 banker proved so indomitable. Rarely seen anything finishing looking so determined. Well done BobsworthMarch 22, 2012 at 12:02 #398037Was kicking myself after this. I was in the pub with a group of friends and they kept asking me about Grands Crus, and I just told them to forget about Grands Crus (be more inclined to make head-on-the-block comments with a few in me sure
) , and that Bobs Worth was the danger to First Lieutenant.Very annoyed that I din’t have a save on him, but was happy with First Lieutenant e/w at 20/1. If he hadn’t been as keen early he would have been closer but you can’t fault Bobs Worth. Both horses clearly love Cheltenham and will no doubt be involved in what already looks an exciting 2013 Gold Cup. I think on another day First Lieutenant might turn the tables, the horses are remarkably similar imo and I’d love to see them square up again.
