Sir Des Champs out to 9/1 on Betfair…Hopefully this is a sign he’s Jewson bound.
TAKE IT!
March 14, 2012 at 00:20 #396472Well after Hurricane Fly who I had at 5/1, 11/4 and 9/4 screwed up most of my antepost doubles and trebles it leaves me with Bobs Worth to get me out of the mire.
Just looking back at his form I see that he easily beat todays champion hurdle winner Rock on Ruby at level weights at a distance short of his best and beat todays Arkle runner up Cue Card again over a trip short of his best. If the breathing op has worked and he is fit and well I can see him powering clear of Grands Crus on the run in.

In exactly the same mess as you, except it’s First Lieutenant I’m counting on here. Al Ferof going down didn’t exactly help either. The Rock On Ruby form sort of did him a favour earlier, although granted it was over a mile shorter, but if there is a God, he wins.
March 14, 2012 at 11:51 #396555With 8/1 Grands Crus and 10/1 Bobsworth, fingers crossed. Aren’t presuming anything, as have backed both Time For Rupert and Long Run ante-post in previous years.
Value Is EverythingMarch 14, 2012 at 11:53 #396556Nice bets Ginger, surely a saver on First Lieutenant would cover some of your risk? That’s the horse I’m on (20/1) but I don’t think there’ll be much between First Lieutenant and Bobs Worth. I’d be looking to take Grands Crus on at 5/4 but if you’ve got 8/1 happy days
March 14, 2012 at 11:55 #396557Really wanted Invicticus to tun in this bad would have been an easy winner for me, so going Join Together, hoping he can stick it to them up the hill.
March 14, 2012 at 12:03 #396558You’ll get your wish, RedRiot. He’ll be coming up the hill alright.
Except he’ll be a circuit behind the others. Absolutely no chance. Should be running in the 4-miler. Would be a justifiable 2/1fav.

I’ve had a part saver by laying a little of Grands Crus back @ 2.85/1 THM (first time the Gold Cup was mentioned). Flight Liutenent – Would go "Against The Grain" (did he run in the race?) if I backed something I didn’t believe is value. Doesn’t jump well enough. But I thought the same about another Gigginstown runner in this race a couple of years ago.
Value Is EverythingMarch 14, 2012 at 14:54 #396597Saw that coming.
He’ll be a Ryanir type.
March 14, 2012 at 14:56 #396598Just extraordinary really. After his debut, wanted to get on him but could only get 10s. Wasn’t interested. Picked out a 75/1 shot who beats Bob’s Worth. Then gets injured. Now Bob’s Worth wins. This is just car crash stuff right now. If Sizing Europe gets beaten, don’t think I can bring myself to watch another race.

Bobs Worth ? He’ll be in the Gold Cup
Grand Crus ? I agree. That Feltham stat is incredible. But Bobs has been trained for this day, this distance, this track.
March 14, 2012 at 15:02 #396602grands crus very disspointing, with the benefit of hindsight he’s been overhyped. and I got sucked in

feeling more confident about my oscar whiskey bet now though, grands crus getting turned over puts a hole in the big bucks form, the question must be now, has he ever beaten a really top class horse?

Obviously the remark pertained to Grand Crus.
I’ll be interested to see Invictus next time out. I don’t doubt Bob’s Worth has improved since Ascot, but it’s a shame he got injured.
Im not a serious punter, but i don’t think i will ever be backing Ante-post favourites in this race. Just a train wreck. Hype horses don’t win this race.

He’s undoubtedly a very good horse – he just looked like a classic non-stayer to me.
March 14, 2012 at 15:10 #396605I must say I am very disappointed connections of Grands Crus employed very negative tactics today – effectively changing the positive approach adopted in his previous three chases. Is cheltenham really the right place to be doing this.
I think he didnt enjoy the restraint, was harried by outsiders for much of the race instead of being in the van, where his jumping technique could have gained lengths at each fence, and when he was sandwiched by the front two at the 3rd last he seemed to chuck in.
He deserves another chance with more positive riding tactics.

Don’t think Invictus would beat Bobs at Cheltenham.
Join Together is an oil tanker.
