I’m now on Churchill at 4/1 as my main bet. He’s drawn well and will be running on the best ground with his stablemates for company. This is going to be a test of stamina and having only found Ulysses too good over an extended 10 furlongs at York I can see a positive in that eventuality.
I’ve also gone in on Thunder Snow at 16/1. He’s been given a nice little break since his last run and races in a visor for the first time. Conditions should be OK for him and a positive ride could see him go close.
Churchill 4/1
Thunder Snow 16/1
Sir John Lavery 33/1 & 40/1
Al Wukair 10/1October 21, 2017 at 08:51 #1322580Quickly looking for some value in this race for a place bet before I head out today and taking a chance on …
NATHRA currently 80/1 with Paddy Power – Each Way
She will thrive in the conditions, having won the Nell Gwyn on similar ground at the start of the season, and has been running well all season without winning. I think she will run another big race today along with stable companion….Persuasive – 25/1 Paddy Power – Each Way
Both fillies finished 2nd and 3rd to Roly Poly last time out on the Rowley Mile and Persuasive was pulling away chasing the winner with Nathra running on into 3rd position.
This will be Persuasives last race before she goes off to stud and on a day that looks cut and dried for favourites turning up these two fillies might be worth an each way chance..
Off to a wedding now so will have to catch up on the results later tonight but good luck on a great days racing and hoping storm Brian doesn’t turn up to spoil the party..Jac

It won’t win.

I still think Churchill has a big hand to play here

What would make you think churchill has a better chance on this ground than ribchester?
If he drifts much more ill be going in again on ribchester lol
October 21, 2017 at 14:22 #1322707Didn’t Ribchester get turned over at Goodwood on similar ground?
Then again Churchill got withdrawn because it was soft lol
Wouldn’t be surprised by another upset

He certainly did get turned over, but i dont think that was down to the ground as much as it was down to the ride he was given (he would prefer good ground, but should be ok on this)
Out of the two churchill is less likely to handle it, and their hasnt been that much surprise in the first two races really? The headwind is probably more damaging than the ground
October 21, 2017 at 14:50 #1322721Surely only a brave man would take on Churchill here with O’brien on the verge of history
October 21, 2017 at 15:18 #1322736Ribchester out to 3.4 on the machine on the off. The Betfair boys say no.
October 21, 2017 at 15:28 #1322740Good performance form the winner
Frustrating one that as Ribchester travelled so well
October 21, 2017 at 15:31 #1322744Good call winners
Forum on fire today with several posters booting in big priced winners. Bookies will soon have to close this place down!
I think what this race showed and the sprint as well won by Librisa Breeze is how important it is for a horse to get it’s ideal conditions. Persuasive clearly liked to get her toe in.
Maybe there’s a new method to be drawn by all this as well- back grey horses on soft ground?!
October 21, 2017 at 15:49 #1322748Stunning stuff, Jac, 25/1 Persuasive and 80/1 4th Nathra. Very well done.
October 21, 2017 at 16:36 #1322781Good one Jac.

October 21, 2017 at 17:44 #1322818“An interesting footnote to the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes after
the stewards revealed Beat The Bank’s owner Vichai
Srivaddhanapraha had sprayed what has been reported
elsewhere as holy water on the horse’s legs.”October 21, 2017 at 18:24 #1322828Has anyone got Beat the Banks sectionals…..?
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
October 21, 2017 at 18:25 #1322832Wow..Thanks Joe, ginge, Raymond and botchy..just popped out to check my phone for the results, still at the wedding and evening guests arriving and really pleased with that result.
Didn’t think I would get paid on 4th horse Nathra but Paddy Power did
Great ride from Frankie on Persuasive and Nathra 4th just a whisker behind Churchill, what a great run.
Well done to all who backed the winner.
I’m off for a BIG glass of Prosecco (or two) now..
