April 25, 2018 at 17:06 #1351919Nothing wrong with Townend today. Rode two fantastic races!!!
But, the chases are still to come
April 25, 2018 at 17:12 #1351921FOr what it’s worth, my bets today were:
3:40 – Caro Des Flos 10/1 (5th)
4:20 – Sire Du Berlais 7/4 (unplaced)
4:55 – Next Destination 15/8 (NAP) (1st)5:30 – Bellshill 9/2
6:05 – Felix Desjy 10/1
6:40 – Polidam 10/1
7:15 – Colreevy 13/8Good luck all
Delighted with ND for myself and the jockey. Great ride from a Townend after yesterday.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!April 25, 2018 at 17:20 #1351924RSA winner next year Jack? He looks like a good staying chaser in the future to me
April 25, 2018 at 17:26 #1351925Obviously depends on a certain Samcro! He’ll be right up there anyway. Great horse.
Mullins has said they will try chasing but if it doesnt work he could go very well in the staying hurdle division.

April 25, 2018 at 19:48 #1351952A nice treble for Paul Townend today. Well done to him!
April 25, 2018 at 19:53 #1351953Difficult finding anything to back on Thursday, a minefield of a card. There’s no value to be had in the Stayers in my opinion. Penhill looks like he should take all the beating but 2/1 is short enough to find out. But what will turn him over? 4/1 about Barcady’s seems shy considering his form this season and the likes of Faugheen and Yorkhill are on huge recovery missions.
So only a sly each-wayer on Speredek in the 2 mile handicap chase at 16/1 and that’s it.
April 25, 2018 at 19:56 #1351954Delighted with my three winners today. Been a bad spell for me since Cheltenham finished really so good to find some winners.
Have to agree with Charles. Tomorrow looks a tough tough day. Hardest of the week on paper for punters I think.
April 25, 2018 at 21:52 #1351966Min running again on friday after looking below himself in the CC tuesday, a properly wound up min would not be 20/1 for this, begs the question, should he be running under said circumstances, im all for horses running twice in a week, some need it, theinval etc…. but he looked way below his best the other day
Glad coquin mans has been declared for this and not the stayers, he shouldnt be 20/1 eithed.
April 25, 2018 at 22:43 #1351967Ham, i wouldn’t be surprised if he still doesn’t run. i would say it slightly depends on how tomorrow goes.
This is one of the things about this “battle” i won’t tend to enjoy.
Some horses are fine running twice in a week, and whilst i am not saying Mullins isn’t considering his welfare- he looked toasted on Tuesday. On form he should’ve went much better. Jumping was sketchy big time.
Personally it’s fine running some horses at say Galway twice, but mainly that’s a lower level than this, and some of them are doing flat and jumps which is easier. Min is trying to run in two G1s and to me that’s too much. Sizing John et Sprinter Sacre suffered from going to too many festivals, never mind running twice in them.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!April 25, 2018 at 23:13 #1351970Well done anyone that backed winners today!!
So far I haven’t backed a winner at Punchestown but have backed loads of places so these picks are all each way and sorry if anyone backs em to win!!
LORD IN RED 20/1
SPEREDEK 16/1
TISAMYSTERY 20/1
LAST GOODBYE 14/1
MILES TO MEMPHIS 25/1
IDENTITY THIEF 4/1Good Luck Guys
April 26, 2018 at 09:11 #1351983Fancy one or two today, but on the whole it’s hard picking.
3.40 Lord in Red 20/1
A really wide open race. He has been promising on a couple of occasions. His run behind Mind’s Eye is decent form with the 2nd and 3rd proving horses way above this level. Granted the 4th and 6th closer to him haven’t done great since i think he’s worth a flyer. His first run behind Gran Geste would also give him a chance as the ones in front of him have done much better since as well. I am hoping this has been a plan for some time, get him handicapped over the winter, and go for a better ground handicap hurdle.
I will also have pocket change on Jack Dillinger 25/1– i’ve thought for ages he’s been a handicap plot- since missing out being a reserve at last year’s festival, but for whatever reason, he seems to be stopping at the end of his races quite quickly after travelling ok. His distance 3rd behind Samcro and Minds Eye give him a squeak and i suspect being off since January might mean a wind op or something.5.30 Bacardys 7/2- Horse has been unlucky this year and went to Cheltenham without a run, he fell which is a clear negative, but he ran a race full of promise considering his previous races. He did have a tricky passage in the race, and he still was managing to run in the first 5 (possibly closer who knows). I have a theory, and have had for some time that Patrick Mullins is actually a better jockey over obstacles and he does well here anyway even if you disagree with that lol. There will be pace in the race, and he should go close if staying on his feet- big issue.
6.05- I’ve had previous with plenty of these horses! A Great View is a horse i’ve backed many a time, and he always runs well, but doesnt win so often (maybe a victim of big field handicaps) yet always seems to be doing his best work late on. Reeling me back in quite often! Today i will leave him.
My eye was immediately drawn to Folsom Blue- however, looking at him further the ground might just be “too good” for him. He seems to do his best on heavier going.
Minella Awards 16/1 would be a bet for me. He won this last year and even though he’s higher in the weights, i wonder if they have kept him for this, as the grounds been so bad in Britain this year.
At the moment he’s my main bet but im yet to decide between Ainsi Va La Vie, Miles To Memphis + Screaming Rose as a saver
7.15 Glens Harmony 9/2– Happy to see her back- i think shes a horse full of promise and if anything like Glens Melody, she will want better ground than they had all winter. I doubt Cut the Mustard will get to dominate from the front and that is what improved her form so much last time here. I can see the atttraction with Redhotfillypeppers now having a proper rider on and she’d be my biggest fear.
