Samcro reportedly in horse ambulance now though that could simply mean they’re being very cautious.

Seen on Twitter that both Samcro and Melon are in their stables and okay.

I thought Getabird was absolutely cruising then before being taken out!

The more of these top horses run in the top races the better, it should happen more often, don’t know why anyone would be moaning about it.

There was no evidence during the race that it was the wrong race or one race too many for Samcro, he was cantering, jumping superbly and was desperately unlucky to come down.

What a great weeks sport it’s been at Punchestown.

Of course it wasn’t one race too many.

Before today, he’d had one proper race. The rest had been glorified canters.

He’s still a superstar and I still expect him to hack up next year at whatever race he runs at in March.

If it is a hard call to say who would have won, Steve, then Samcro must be extremely good because he is a future 3m chaser, taking on the CH runner-up as a novice.

Well after the drama of ABP’s run out the other day, I thought my punting luck must change…was on Samcro at – 11/4 (courtesy of double with Footpad), so played it ‘safe’ and saved on Melon also, couldn’t quite believe they both managed to come down. Backed Getabird in the next…sometimes you just have to smile!

    Still seemed full of running.

The Racing Post says Debuchet was being pressed when he fell and caused the incident. I’ve watched a few times and for me he was going as well as any when coming to grief.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Wednesday’s winner Pravalaguna looks a huge price EW at 50/1 in the big mare’s race. She won like an improved and improving mare. Trip is the same and ground should suit her. Nice each way double with Domesday Book at 50s in the Whitbread!

Well at last I backed a couple of winners!!

I must say they were both fortunate to say the least but Supasundae and Dortmund winning get me about level on the week at Punchestown!! Miracle methinks!!

I have backed just a few small each way tomorrow
    COLMS DREAM 25/1
    MR BOSS MAN 22/1
    FORGE MEADOW 20/1
    LETS DANCE 20/1
    PAPER LANTERN 14/1
    KILCULLEN FLEM 25/1
    URADEL 20/1
    LOW SUN 14/1

And that will do for me at Punches!!

Oh yes Joe DOMESDAY BOOK has to be backed for me and doesn’t owe me a penny after Cheltenham last year!!

GoldenMiller34If it is a hard call to say who would have won, Steve, then Samcro must be extremely good because he is a future 3m chaser, taking on the CH runner-up as a novice.

On that theory, Faugheen is the best thing since sliced bread- he was thought to be a 3mile chaser at one point too.

Doesn’t really matter what they might be?

Elliot wants to train him for the Champion Hurdle, so that suggests he might not just be a 3m chaser.

One thing that surprised me is that Melon is actually the same age as Samcro. Even though he hasn’t the same scope for improvement over hurdles, what he has achieved is brilliant.

I think he’ll make a superb chaser if allowed.

Least said about the selections yesterday, the better. Been a tough old week, and a terrible Punchestown for me so far. Very much like Aintree, and Ayr, I’m not just getting them wrong, I’m getting them very wrong. It may be a good thing that this is the last day of my season.

The 1435 sees two Alan Fleming horses who interest me, in Hurricane Darwin, and Sammy Black. I thought that Hurricane was being primed for something like this here, earlier in the season, though he’s hardly confirmed that lately. I thought Sammy was destined for the top a few years back, but he’s had setback after setback, and we never got to see how could he would have been. I do think he shaped well over the course though in that race Hurricane ran in, and though highly unlikely, he does look a sporting choice at 40’s with 4 Places up for grabs. I don’t want to add to the growing list of losers this week, but as it’s last day of the season, why not, and it’ll give me an interest.

My eyes will be everywhere in the 1510, as there are so many likely ones, but in the end, I’ll settle for Sutton Manor, and Kylecrue. The Elliot horse is too big at around 14’s, I thought he ran very well for a long way at Fairyhouse, and was travelling well in his previous race when he came down. I think he’s a potential Aintree horse, and 14’s is way generous. Kylecrue is the forgotten horse. A real chance off this mark, and will love conditions. Happy to chance him at 25’s, and the 4 Places helps.

I’ll chance Midnight Tour at around 12’s in the mares, but I’m not convinced she’ll repeat her Cheltenham heroics.

The 1700 is very much like the 1510, and again, my eyes are everywhere. I’ve high hopes for Daklondike, and a wee bit surprised that they took this option, but he looks worth a chance here, and 13-2 seems fair. The outsider of the field is Woods Well, and though way off the boil, I think he’s worth a chance here at crazy odds, and 50’s win, and 40’s ew with the extra place is enough to tempt me. Happy to see Rachel Blackmore booked.

The 1735 is a minefield, but I’ll side with Blackmore again, and the 20’s available for Uradel looks huge, especially with 6 places up for grabs. I’ll almost certainly add something else, and Swamp Fox, Diamond King, and Voix Du Reve, are all in my sights. I might wait and see though how the rest of the day goes before I add any of those. If it’s like the rest of the week, I won’t be taking any of them lol
