October 21, 2016 at 23:49 #1268070Took 25’s Raheen House this morning Darren, think he’s got a chance mate.
October 21, 2016 at 23:54 #1268074yeah, big fan of Gamesome myself Darren, but think I’ll sit it out. Quite like A Momentofmadness, but he’s a bit skinny
October 22, 2016 at 19:01 #1268252Bob any views on aintree i got 2bets up in my thread now
And sorry for putting my bets in your thread i thought i did them in my thread
October 23, 2016 at 01:59 #1268298No probs Darren, not a hassle at all to see your bets here.
I like Smad Place at Aintree. Can run well fresh, and trainer in reasonable form, and while this isn’t his ideal trip, I think it won’t inconvenience him that much. I know conditions are against him, and they favour your selection for sure, but just feel he was staring me in the face, and was happy to take 10’s
Not betting too much just now, with only 3 bet yesterday, so the only other horse that appeals is Ueueteotl around the 16’s mark.
Good luck with Musketeers, and also Forgotten Gold, who I nearly went for myself, big chance. Liked another couple in the race though, so decided to leave alone, and won’t even have a forecast in it.
October 23, 2016 at 11:54 #1268329Back down to earth with quite a bump yesterday. Comedy School and Contrapposto ran inexplicably badly and add in two slowcoaches in what looked a pretty average Cheltenham bumper and it wasn’t good. Given their York run why Rivet was backed off the boards and Contrapposto drifted so badly is beyond me. Hard not to be smelling a rat. Talking of which a couple of weeks ago the same stable’s Slunovrat was given the worst ride (Colin Keane) I have seen all season in the Irish Cesarewitch. The field were already strung out and he decided to take on a confirmed front runner in Jennie’s Jewel before halfway on a potential non-stayer. Not surprisingly the horse tailed off with two furlongs to run. Suicide ride.
Hopefully, I haven’t hit another long snake.
It is an interesting day for Skelton. I don’t think the team have been firing anything like he would have hoped. Robin Roe has what looks to be pretty strong point form (he beat the horse that Patrick Mullins has been touting) and he won his bumper with more in hand than the official verdict. You would think he should put it up to the favourite. I will be keeping an eye on Farm The Rock at big odds. This is probably too big an ask over too short a trip but he should be up to winning a novice of some sort. Born Survivor seems to have plenty of weight for what he has achieved so far. The trip might be a little short for Ubak. Again it might not be today but I wouldn’t be surprised if Miles To Milan is on a reasonable mark. I backed Three Musketeers for the JLT and was disappointed. His jumping wasn’t great and he never really got competitive. I think he might want a stiffer test of stamina than today’s race affords. In my opinion it is a race to watch. I have had a little each-way on Mistress Massini in the concluding bumper. She quickened up nicely on debut and Honeyball has the horse who would have beaten Big Robin so he might have a bit of a guide.
Good luck.
October 23, 2016 at 23:28 #1268417You and me both. My decision to “cut back” for a few weeks is proving a wise one, as although I only had a small stake Lucky 31, and a couple of quid on Raheen House, only Coologue did the business. I’d like to have seen a couple of them place, but all well beaten, bar Raheen. I’ve usually got about as much interest in finding the winner of the boat race, as I have in following 2 year olds the following season, but I’ll definitely be giving him another chance, along with Lancaster Bomber who did me proud a fortnight ago.
I’ve been mad busy at work all weekend, so didn’t see the betting patterns, but I’m naturally cynical, and although I’m sometimes (probably often) wrong, I do feel that if you smell a rat, there’s probably a rat there. I haven’t had a chance to see The Irish Cesarewitch yet, but I’ll catch it over the next couple of days.
As I said, not seen much racing this weekend, but not long in from work, and just watched that Robin Roe race. I know it’s early season, and you do get performances like that, but Wow!!!, that was impressive. Good spot by yourself, and apparently it’s The Challow next. He seems more than capable, and definitely an exciting horse to look forward to.
I actually liked the chances of Born Survivor today, and after intending to stick with Smad & Ueuetotel, he made it onto a small stakes Lucky 15, along with Black Sam in the last. No joy with that lot then, but I’d be inclined to give Born Survivor another look. He certainly travelled nicely, and although he seemed to find little, it was only that winner that flew up the long run in, which done him.
Not seen the finale yet, but I see that Mistress Massini was just out the money, and at a price, very unlucky.
With that run, and also the Robin Roe spot, I don’t think you’ll be hitting the long snake yet.
October 23, 2016 at 23:50 #1268423I did back Robin Roe but missed the early prices thanks to a problem with oddschecker. The one that really hurt though was Farm The Rock. You could have got 100/1 without the favourite and of course in finishing fifth he has missed out by a place. Unfortunately, the cat is now out of the bag. Had they gone for an ordinary novice you would almost certainly have got a double figure price and he might well have won. To rub salt into the wounds the stable won with their other runner. Mistress Massini was disappointing, particularly as so many of the fancied runners bombed. Held up off a slow pace wasn’t the best tactic but perhaps they revved her up to land a touch first time and she wasn’t the same horse today. She drifted badly in the market. Other than Miles To Milan (didn’t jump and folded very tamely) I didn’t get that much wrong but for little reward.
October 24, 2016 at 00:15 #1268427Sh1t, didn’t notice that with Farm The Rock, that is a hard one to take, and must be frustrating, as it was a very good call.
You were not the only one having a problem with Oddschecker, I thought it was just my phone, but I couldn’t get it to work all day. It really is a dogs dinner of a site.
October 25, 2016 at 10:16 #1268519I backed Donnas Delight in the bumper yesterday at 100/1.Topped up my bet twice when I saw it’s odds coming in dramatically just before the off. It was beaten a neck. Good job I could only hear it on racing radio and didn’t see the race. Still, I did say I’d explode if I got the 100/1 winner so at least I live to fight another day.Still in pain though….
October 25, 2016 at 12:28 #1268535Quite interested in the opener at Chepstow. As far as I can see the outstanding form by a distance is Laser Light’s point second, splitting Robin Roe and Minella Beau. Amazed he isn’t favourite.
October 25, 2016 at 13:19 #1268544With a day off today, I was looking to maybe have a few bets, but I didn’t see enough to sway me. I agree though about Laser Light, and he was one I did take a second look at, 9-4 looks generous definitely.
The only other one that caught my eye was Hansupfordetroit at 8’s, but as I wouldn’t have too much on anyway, I’ll take it on the chin, if they both come in.
October 25, 2016 at 13:24 #1268545So unlucky moe, and coming a day after stilvi’s 100-1 shot just missing out on a place. I did actually look at Donnas, as I think Sandy Thomson does really well with what he’s got, and Steven Fox has his moments as well. I’ve had some good paydays following the pair of them. Looking at the trainers Facebook page, I see that some of them got 140’s which must have been hard to take, having just missed out narrowly.
I’m patiently waiting to see what the targets are for Seeyouatmidnight, and watching his FB like a hawk lol
October 25, 2016 at 17:18 #1268586Good call stilvi, Laser won that nicely
October 25, 2016 at 17:58 #1268597Thanks, I missed the 7/2 by one minute! Had things been going a little better I might have gone in again. Dread to think what price Minella Beau will be on rules debut.
Only other horse I backed was Call To Order – fortunately each-way at 6/1. He has the looks and pedigree but not the talent to match. One to be wary of unless he shows otherwise.
October 25, 2016 at 18:26 #1268606My computer is awful at the moment [windows keeps updating without me asking it to and then everything clogs up]. Can’t get bets on sometimes and, to add insult to injury, miss out on tips like silvi’s [especially as I couldn’t get my Robin Roe bet on yesterday when it froze].AND Laser Light was in my Jumping Prospects book, too….
