It wasn’t a bad couple of days at all. I only backed my competition
3 on Monday and got my nap, Rafferty’s Return, up at 9/2 and Amoola Gold
    (3rd) E/W at 16/1.

Yesterday I only had the 2 (as above) but broke even with with Truckers Lodge
(4th) at 14/1. Young Freddie rode a great race, he didn’t miss one fence and
it was only after the last bend that you could see he was running out of steam,
but he kept the horse going. His mother would have been proud and rightly so. It’s
not usual for me to shout on a place horse, but there were plenty of “go on Freddie,
    keep him going” from me.

Young Freddie is definitely one to watch whilst he is claiming the 7lb. He
looks like he has all the attributes of a proper horseman :good:

With A Plus Tard being a late withdrawal, I just have Bob Ollinger in my TTF stable. As Jac said, I’d love to see him win the race for the de Bromheads. I was just checking the scores in that comp and noticed how well you’re doing Jac – that’s great, love to see you doing so well. Keep it going!! (We’ll make a NH convert of you yet lol).

Good Luck with any bets! Stay Safe Everyone (I might go out later and enjoy our heatwave)!

Thanks Andre I have no idea how that happened but I shall have to take a screen shot of that scoreboard because it surely won’t last. B-)

Shame that A Plus Tard didn’t get to run today but his welfare is the most important thing and Conflated ran a big race but would he have beaten APT? We just don’t know the answer to that.

Home By The Lee is a beautiful hurdler and one to watch for Cheltenham. Bob Olinger not a threat today, I originally thought he had finished 2nd and then realised I had looked at his previous result when HBTL also beat him. This time he didn’t get close enough to land a blow.

I have at least 2 of my 10 horses out of action now so making the most of those that have won. Bravemansgame is my favourite of my Stable he has just turned the corner and his star is rising..⭐

    Best of luck..Jac :bye:

Nice Nap with Rafferty’s Return 9/2 Graham in select 3 Horses and your placed horse Amoola Gold st 16’s.

Mum’s Tipple appropriately came home for me at 9/2 in the 3 horses comp. :good:

Enjoy the rest of a great weeks racing and find some more big winners.
Hope Marjorie is feeling much better.

Bob Ollinger was disappointing again yesterday and Home by the Lee looks very good. HBTL certainly enters into consideration for the swap in a few weeks. A Plus Tard is also a worry now a poor first run, a (minor?) injury. I have Three Stripe Life going today, fingers crossed.

I hope you and Marjorie are feeling better Graham.

    Take Care Everyone!

Heart breaking from Leopardstown  What happened to both Unexpected Depth & Three Stripe Life is what is incredibly hard about this sport. Turned off the TV – done with racing. Just terrible.

It was awful. I’m looking after my grandchildren and against my better judgement had the racing on the tv because I can’t watch Irish racing on my iPad so I had to ignore what had happened. I feel thoroughly wretched.

I’m so glad I didn’t see the race, it’s shocking enough just hearing about
it this morning. I don’t know the circumstances, I just hope they didn’t
suffer too much before before (I assume) being put down.

I know racing doesn’t want to appear in a bad light, but unless I missed it,
I didn’t even see a word of it in today’s Racing Post. Two runners in a 7
runner race. Surely the incident deserved a mention. Poor boys such a shame.

Be thankful you didn’t see it Graham. It’s heart-breaking. It got a very brief mention in the write-up on the race won by Gaillard Du Mesnil. You’d think it would have been mentioned somewhere as it was a Grade 1 race. I always feel especially bad for the stable staff and riders who care for these horses every day.

It was an horrific fall from Three Stripped Life, I didn’t see the other incident
a couple of fences before he nearly unshipped the rider who done well to stay on but the jumping went wrong after that. He made a similar mistake in another race and got pulled up
I love horse racing but do prefer the flat on account of you don’t have to watch the terrible falls

    Moe,
You asked the other day about the horse that took a tumble on the straight in a bumper.
He was ok and I’ve posted a Twitter picture of the horse back home, put up by the trainer.
Its on the bumper thread. :good:

Heartbreaking news from Leopardstown where we lost the promising Three Stripe Life and Unexpected Depth in the same race.
I just can’t watch jumps racing anymore I have to record it and know that all the horses are home safe before I watch.
All the hopes and dreams that went along with those two horses shattered in one moment and an empty horsebox where once stood a future champ…I make no secret that I cry my eyes out for them and there is no joy in winning when horses lay injured on the ground behind you.
I know that accidents and breakdowns happen in flat racing also but it is seeing those beautiful horses jumping fences at speed that literally turns my stomach.
You have to be made of tough stuff to own and train NH horses. They steal your heart and then they break it.

My loyalties are firmly with the flat horses. I know we don’t enjoy them for as long as the NH favourites that come back year after year but to watch a race run purely on a flat surface is just bliss for me. :rose: Jac

    @Sam
What great news that the horse that took a tumble on the straight in the Bumper is ok. :rose:
Moe will be relieved and that was so thoughtful and reassuring of you to find that information that the Trainer had kindly posted up.

Thanks Andre for letting me know at least there was a mention, and in fairness
to the Raing Post it is fairly well covered on page 3. I had missed that. Still,
I think they deserved a headline, perhaps especially Three Stripe Life who looked
like being possibly a Gold Cup horse. Commiserations to all.

Happy New Year to all Meydan Thursday Posters… :rose:
I’ve been laid low with the dreaded Flu but thankfully nothing like Graham and Marjorie. The Day Nurse seems to be doing it’s job.. :good:

Congrats again to Nathan our Poster of the Year and fully deserved. :yahoo:

Okay I’m going to try and concentrate on a few flat horses this year and getting some winners in…so looking through the Southwell card one horse kept jumping out at me almost willing me to back her…
She turns 3 today but just a 2yo really beautifully bred by Intrinsic(OasisDream) out of Jumeirah Star and her pedigree includes a Nell Gwyn winner..she’s a classy filly 💕

    16.26 SOUTHWELL..DEIRA STAR 11/2 – EW
Paddy Power being mean and not offering Best Odds anymore so hope to have got in at a good price. :good:

This filly ran a blinder at Wolverhampton last time out at a huge price. She was drawn in the highest stall swerved right and immediately had ground to make up which she did running wide. She finishrd with a burst of speed which almost got her the prize.
Today in stall 1 Luke Morris could just cruise home on the rail but she needs to get a quick start.

Best of luck and enjoy the racing today.. :good: Jac

Deira Star came put of her stall very sluggishly and then had to be ridden to catch the field. I thought she was going ok but she was one of the first under pressure. I’ll wait for her to go back to Wolverhampton with a low draw.

Just realised I have to start a new Thread fur 2023…I’ll see you there for the start of our Meydan compy.. :good: Jac
