    Hello Graham (BigG)

Really sorry to hear about the news of your wife.

I am afraid that I have lost touch with the latest news a
little but can under stand how you must be feeling.

Although in no way comparable to your position life does feel
like one step forward then two steps backwards most days.

All one can do is keep going as Churchill used to say KBO
and hope for better days ahead.

All the best for the future :good:

Oh sorry Graham I didn’t mean to let that one slip out…best keep it quiet for now. I hope it made you smile though.

I know why I made that slip as I posted before going off for a Christmas lunch with my friend from Cambridge and old friends of mine Andy and his wife Margaret who I haven’t seen in a while. I was rushing to post to you before I
left and her name just came out in my post. I usually read my posts through before I press the submit button but this time I didn’t.

Please give Marjorie all our love when you hopefully get to see her later and hope you are feeling better yourself.
    Take care..Jac x

    @Sam
Thank you Sam for your kind comments on the Nominations Thread and may I say totally agree with your nomination of BigG. He hosts a great competition and when he’s on form at his beloved Cheltenham he can pick out 20/1 shots like nobody else. All round lovely person who has been having a rough time this last few weeks and we all hope that he makes it down South with Marjorie to celebrate Christmas and New Year with his new grandson. :good:
Poster of The Year is a tough call in my opinion you are all in that category, each one adding their own special
magic to keep DL&P’s and the Forum in general great place to visit…Jac x

I could do with a couple of 20/1 shots if only to raise my spirits. It’s such an
easy thing to do, getting a name mixed up Jac. My mom was a past master at it, if
she was in a bit of a tizz she used to go through all our names before getting to
the right one. The final ingignity was when she called me Patch once.

The good news is that Marjorie may be getting out of hospital tomorrow, if she can
pass all their tests and manage without oxygen. I’m desperate to see her. I was just
saying to Sam in a nice PM he sent that I’m waking up in the night and putting my arm
over to where I expect Marjorie to be before I remember she’s in Hospital. 46 years
we’ve been married now, I was just a lad of 21.

The not so good news is that I ended up in casualy with an appointment for 2.20 after
speaking with 111 as my oxygen levels had dropped to 87. I was in a while, and as I
said to Mike I think I was given enough steroids to down Red Rum in his heyday.

Eventually I got out as I was still making sense (open to opinion) the x-ray showed
I had an infection but so many going about he didn’t know if it was flu a chest
infection or something else. I almost offered him a bet as Marjorie had been taken
in with FLU!! on Saturday, which apparently he knew, but though I’d better not push my
luck. So I’m back isolated in my sis’s front bedroom with boxes of antibiotics to get
    through.

Churchill hit the nail on the head there John, it’s all you can do, Keep Buggering
ON. It’s good to hear from you again, I hope you are getting a break of the ball.
Sometimes we have longer to wait for that than seems fair All the best mate and drop
    in when you can :good:

To Jac, John, Andre, Sam Moe, Tonge, Krtpton and Gamble and everyone else, whether a
regular or you just drop in for a cup of tea I wish you and your families a great Christmas
and an excellent happy and vevy very healthy New Year :good:

So relieved you are both on the getting well list at last Graham, have been so worried about you and Marjorie and Margaret sends her love too. B-).
I know what you mean about mums getting names mixed up..my mum told me once her neighbour had gone into hospital for vivisection.

I know you’re getting better when you start cracking jokes and my God did you need that great sense of humour with everything you’ve been through this week. I think you were in the right place for what happened to you Graham and with those low oxygen levels they were able to get you straight onto oxygen, antbiotics and monitor you.

Hope that Marjorie is out of hospital in time for Christmas and you get to spend quality time with your son and new grandson Alexander..
This news was like the best Christmas present ever..thank you Graham and take care both of you..lots of love Jac  x

So many bugs about at the moment
the hospital where I work early mornings is overflowing with patients with flu, chest infections, covid and other winter bugs.
I still wear my mask in the supermarket and other busy areas although its easy to forget it sometimes. Loads of people out coughing and spluttering, I seem to notice every time someone makes a noise
My lad also a Alex caught covid last month. I seemed to avoid it although my symptoms were very similar with a sore throat, aching legs, coughing….. I’m still coughing now and a runny nose.
Alex still hasn’t recovered fully, he coughed up something alien and I took a photo and sent an email to the doctors saying hes been poorly for a month.
That was about a week ago so they must be overflowing with emails as when I’ve sent them previously they get back quite quick.
The cold weather must be a factor in it all with some people maybe a lot of people worried about the price of gas etc.

Get well soon BigG and Marjorie..

So glad to hear that you & Marjorie are both on the mend Graham! Were they able to do anything for Marjorie’s back pain/problems or is that still on hold pending an “expert”? Not sure if you’re still planning on making it down south for Alexander’s first Christmas – I hope so as I know how important it is to you both. As Jac said, you were lucky to have been at the hospital when you needed to be. Glad they got you sorted and out of there.

Take good care of yourself & Marjorie.

Andre, Marjorie willnedtomake another appointment for her back once she
gets out. Different Hospitak for that. I hoped she was getting out on
Wednesday, but they decided theywanted to see her on Thursday to make
sure she was improving. I’m still in bed nd my chest still soundslike
a buzsaw when I’m breathing. I’ve got loads od steroids (take 9 in 1 go)
and antbiotics. I’ve been feeling better at times and then it’s a bit
    backwrds.

I’m affraid that Christmas is definately off this year, I can’t chance
passing thison to family, or anyone, and certainly not young Alexander.
It’s a great pity but they are all so supportive. They say we will get
togther for a big party when Marjorie and I are better. I doubt I could
even make the drive at this point. I’m still here and I have no intentons
of throwing in the towel. I WILL get better, it’s just time. Well that’s
    about it.

Keep in good health and enjoy it whilst you can :good:

Graham, It sounds like they want to make sure Marjorie is doing well before they release her – some extra caution and care is not a bad thing. Hopefully it will be Thursday as I know you want to see her. I was just hoping that maybe they could help with her back problems too while she was in. One step at a time I guess.

It does make sense that you don’t want to take whatever it is you have down south and risk getting others sick. I’m sure you will have one heck of a party when you are both feeling better.

I’m sure you both will get better soon. :good: Keep taking the pills and know that you are both in my thoughts. You can’t throw in the towel mate, who else is going to find those 20/1 winners for us!

Take good care of yourself (& Marjorie).

That’s very kind of you Andre. I.m still coughing but definitely
    ging in the right direction.

Bad news is that when Marjorie got out of bed she didn’t wait for a nurse
to take her to the loo, she decided she was well enough. Anywaay, does she
not just go and fall and now she is away for an X-Ray of her leg, hip and
elbow. Of all the times to go it alone when she is probably still weak as
a kitten. We’r waiting for word back and if she hasn’t done anything she
could still get out today. I really don’t know.

It seems a bad time talk about hoses but I had this bgout long before
we got hat news. The racing Post have the 3.30 at Abu Dhabi, which goes off
in a few minutes, but I can’t find a bookie that is offering. It’s Wickywickywheels
who used to be Jim Goldie’s horse. She’s a decent sort and on a good weight. It
might be a trial race for her because it’s on the short side of what she’s been
doing, but I’d chance her. If she doesn’t win I’ll have a few quid on her next
    run.

Ouch Graham she only went and won  that is a serious case of sods law.
If only I’d signed into TRF an hour earlier I would have definitely put £20 on her and split it with you Graham…buf well done for pinpointing that winner while you are still feeling so awful.

Oh your Marjorie is a determined lady Graham and sorry to hear she had a fall on the way to the loo which might delay her going home today, hope the x-ray shows nothing broken.

You have made the right decisions regarding Christmas, you both need to rest and recuperate and hopefully Marjorie’s spinal injections will be prioritised.
Christmas can be celebrated any day and
hope you are soon able to travel down to be with your son and family.

So many good wishes on here, and Sam’s word with mother nature
must have helped too beause…………Marjorie is home :yahoo:

I slept most of the evening and when my sis opened the door I looked
at my watch and said, Good Morning. It’s 9 o’clock at night she said.
She moved from the door and Marjorie was standing there with a new
stick that goes half way up your arm. I didn’t know whether to laugh
or cry, it was such a shock. I’ve never been so happy to see her.

Thanks a milion to all in here who kept my spirits up and genuinely cared
for Marjorie, it definitely helped me through this :good:

Hello all good to hear all is well.
A quick word to say a big thank you especially to Big G and of course Triptych for your encouraging words.
There always has to be one Grinch ready to throw a spanner in the works.
Well having missed the Southwell meeting because of it and some very strong Alexander qualifiers, I have put it behind me.
Bullying or offensive comments have no place on a forum whoever they come from or for whatever reason.
It has happened before and it will happen again, but be aware if you do it your stock will tumble in the eyes of other readers and that is more than plenty reccompense for me.
Because the perpetrator is left looking one very sad individual.
In the words of Her Lyons I’m putting “my big boy pants” on and won’t be put off by such stupidity next time. If the poster had a shred of anything he’d go and remove such a daft comment but good that it is there because everyone can take a look and at the same time see the 33/1 winner that prompted such a strange reaction.
One selection before Santa arrives and it might not win.
    MOUSER
Was a shock winner at Abu Dhabi last week and runs again at 2.35 this afternoon. The fact he is turned out quickly suggests connections fancy him.
I’m suggesting two runners here the excellent
Antonio Fresu rides DESERT DESTINATION in the same race and also has a chance here. He ran fourth behind the winner last week and although a long time maiden was staying on behind and this trip may bring the necessary improvement.

The main thing everyone is that you are all well and Big G the best news of all that your wife is home.
Best of luck all of you.
