Thanks Graham it helped to talk but hope this doesn’t last too long. I think they did it as they are fearing a surge as people return to work and school on Tuesday but surely with 1 in 25 reported as having been infected ‘herd’ immunity cannot be far away, can only hope.
Thanks for the Fantasy League reminder Graham..I won’t be doing a competition this time just put up our choices on here and keep tabs of our scores at the end of each month like we used to do when Nick was playing and hoping he might pop in from time to time. Also hope Sam might take part too with some selections. Keep it simple.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 2, 2022 at 11:43 #1576158i will pop in when can Jac as i did yesterday about the turf races being moved to the dirt.
Believe it or not due to move to cheltenham (village a mile from track)on Jan 20th, like groundhog day after a complete time waster last time round.
Hope your husband is recovering well an will pop on as often as can before move and a lot more when down there.Take care everyone
January 2, 2022 at 15:41 #1576222Glad to hear you got to talk to Dave today. Not as good as a visit, but keeping everyone safe is important. Hopefully he’ll be able to come home soon.
Oh gosh, yes I need to think about my Godolphin fantasy stable. No idea where to start…..
Heading back to work tomorrow – not looking forward to it at all.
Seems like you had a really good day yesterday Sam. Keep it going.
Stay Safe Everyone!
January 2, 2022 at 18:36 #1576253@Nick
Hope you make it to Cheltenham this time round. Realise you will be busy but happy to see you anytime on here..best of luck with the move.
Managed to speak to Dave today and he is hopeful that with some extra care in place he will come home..early days yet but more positive news.

@Andre
I think the above answered your first question Andre and thank you. It seems really hard on people that Government have come down so hard on visiting but we have to protect the vulnerable and that includes Dave now.🌈 Let’s hope it will soon all be back to some sort of normal again..How is it in the US now with restrictions?Don’t worry too much about Godolphin Fantasy League the competition only opens for entries 7th January but doesn’t actually kick off until 14th January…phew I was glad to read that.
It won’t be easy but at least they are only racing at Meydan and we know that the top grade races all come later in the competition..so swap Stables with care..looking forward to the challenge..
So nice to hear from you all.. the Thread has taken off nicely again.
x JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 2, 2022 at 20:40 #1576269Hi Triptych,
Best regards to Dave and you and please let him know we are crossing everything that he gets well soon.
Yes I’ll give the comp a go and have a few picks.
Hi Euro,
Yes went well yesterday the less is more approach is really working for me. I’m actually turning a profit thus far in recent days.
Great to see David Maxwell win on his horse even if KCC was second. He was so close the day before.
I Hope everyone clocked the likely UAE 1000 Guineas winner I’ve put up yesterday.January 2, 2022 at 22:04 #1576288Thank you Sam and great that you’re joining in our ‘just for fun’ comp ..playing for pats on the back this time as we did last year..look forward to those choices and yes I did pick up on your UAE 1000 Guineas fancy Shahama..a brave choice so early in the season and not a Godolphin trained horse she showed them all a muddy pair of heels yesterday. It will be exciting to see her race again Sam..good luck

Loved the enthusiasm of David Maxwell yesterday he just lit up our screens, that’s just what racing needs.
Glad to see your less is more approach turning an early profit, I was silly yesterday as I didn’t take the conditions into account and the number of non runners the performances of Silk Romance and Beautiful Morning can be drawn a line through they were saved when beaten so the next time they line up will see marked improvements (I hope)as Silk Romance would be my hope for the UAE Guineas at the moment.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 4, 2022 at 09:33 #1576489Early decs out for Friday card at emiratesracing.com
Looks poor card but let’s hope rain stays away so we get the turf races on turfJanuary 4, 2022 at 13:43 #1576517@Jac – I’m glad to hear Dave is improving, slowly but surely is good. His friends on the Meydan thread are all rooting for him!
Restrictions here are all over the place. Some states (like Florida) have a Governor who is a Trump cult follower and therefore they have almost no restrictions and one of the highest infection rates in the country. Other states are more restrictive with mask mandates for indoor activities, etc. Of course, there are still many who don’t follow the mask mandates and the mandates don’t really seem to be enforced. Some major cities, like New York and I think Chicago, are requiring proof of vaccination to attend sporting events, restaurants, etc. The hospitals are overflowing with COVID patients, the vast majority of whom have not been vaccinated. Funny how they don’t want to be vaccinated but rush to the hospital when they are seriously infected. I have lost all patience and sympathy for them. (Rant Over).
Other than that – I was glad to hear about the Godolphin comp starting on 14th – although I’ll probably end up scrambling at the last minute to get a stable together.
Stay Safe Everyone
January 6, 2022 at 14:19 #1576754Hi Andre
Thank you for kind wishes for Dave. He actually came home last night. He was suddenly given a discharge letter and I was rung with no warning at 7.00pm last night to come and collect him.
It is not a good time to be in hospital at the moment, wards are being merged and patient care compromised (virtually non existent) so many nurses off sick and others leaving the profession.
I was not given any updates on Dave’s care and if I rang the ward I had to wait up to 25 minutes for someone to pick up.. could go on and on but just glad he is home. They are promising Physio nurses will visit but that this will take up to 3-4 weeks.
Dave still very wobbly on his legs but thankfully his mind all good so we have to look for the bonuses.
My visits here will be fewer but I will be here as and when I can make it.
Godolphin is now open to choose Stables and like you Andre I will be throwing one together next week sometime at least we should get a few clues who is running at Meydan on the 1st day of the comp when the decs appear so best to wait a while to make the final decision.
Sounds like you are having similar nightmares to us in the US Andre, can’t believe it was a year ago today that the White House was stormed by Trump supporters, thank God he has gone and totally with you on the anti vaxxers now taking up precious space in the hospitals.
Best of luck to all in the Godolphin comp and look forward to seeing how you are all doing in a few weeks..
Jac xThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 6, 2022 at 14:58 #1576760Hello to everyone
It is nice to hear some good news about your husband Jacqui, and I hope that he
goes on improving under what I am sure will be your kind and loving care.
Take the positive out of your situation, he has a much better chance at home than
in hospital now he is feeling better. On the racing front we have a week to put together our first Godolphin stable.
I suspect all of us are going to be working in the dark until we have some current
results and form to give us a guide.Looking forward to Cheltenham but as in the past January and February tend to be the
quiet before the storm.Anyway all the best to all of you.
John
January 6, 2022 at 16:05 #1576767Lovely to hear from you John and certainly with you in ‘working in the dark’ re our Godolphin Stables. Hopefully more will become clearer closer to the kick off.

I don’t think Dave thought much of the food in hospital as has spent most of the day eating.
Definitely in a much better frame of mind after being given his ” marching orders-‘last night.Take care and keep well John
Jac xThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 6, 2022 at 20:13 #1576824Dear Triptych,
Great to hear your news, best wishes to Dave. Not quite sure what format this takes but a couple of choices tomorrow.
1.25
Maiden
Sheringham. Win
Good third last month and drops in trip.
Durandal win
Third when last seen at Chantilly November 2019. Doing best work at the end over a mile favourite but not trouble winners but staying on and crying out for drop in trip. Gelded a year later. Must have been working well in France or on arrival for new yard in middle east.January 6, 2022 at 23:10 #1576847Good luck Sam that looks a hard race but run on the turf I would have a stab at Bridesman in that.
One jumped out at me when I had a quick look in the 2.00
Rich And Famous
Around 5/2
Ex Mark Johnston horse and seemingly doing vety well in Dubai.
Win on both and small double.
Best of luck.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 7, 2022 at 11:54 #1576882So pleased to hear that Dave is home now Jac, even though he has some
way to go. I wish him all the best
Had a look at them in Meydan and gone for a couple of thw earlier ones,
I’ll see how I get on with them before chancing my arm further, it’s still
early days in Maydan and you’re never sure what’s ready.1.25 Durandal 10/1 Bet365
He’s obviously had his problems and has been off the couse for a long time
although a lot of them are back after a long lay off. There’s not been much
shown by any of them but this ex Andre Fabre gelding has a lovely pedegree
he’s by Dubawi and the dam, although not prolific, is by Nashwan. He’s only
run the once in France, a promising running on 3rd, but if he’s over his
problems he should be too good for this lot. Fabrizio is the danger.2.35 Manahir 12/1 Boylesports.
He’s another that’s been off a long time before his comeback in November
last year where he trailed in last. Not surprising as he was hampered
at the start and always out the back. I doubt Royston Ffrench would have
given him a hard time after that. He won comfortably in his last start over
c/d before his enforced break. if he can get back to that form he should
run well. That will do for me at the moment. Best of luck Sam and Jac with your runners
January 7, 2022 at 13:43 #1576889That was impressive, he’s definitely going to win better races than this
if he stays fit.I’ve dabled in the 2nd race
2.00 Ways of Wisdom 18/1 e/w Bet365
Decent trainer and rider and a c/d winner who has won 1st time out
in 2 of his last 4 starts.January 7, 2022 at 13:51 #1576890Well done Sam and Graham with Durandel in the 1st..what a great start and 7/1 lovely price.

I’m hoping Rich and Famous will get me out of a hole in the next..
Dave still pretty weak from his ordeal Graham I’m keeping a good eye on him and just grabbing a bit of time to check on the Meydan action.
Good luck today everyone who is playing
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 7, 2022 at 14:08 #1576893Thanks Jac and it will take time with Dave but he’s going the right way

Yep I was very pleased with Durandal. 10/1 was a good price for one that
looked like a Group horse running against handicappers, definitely one to
follow.Sam well done, I hadn’t clocked you had put him up last night,
well spotted mate
