Zulu ChiefAugust 5, 2008 at 15:12 #176179No Mahler in the Cup this year? He ran a stormer last year and thought he was still in training?
Really dont expect Henry or DoM to go over to Melbourne. Its far to close to the Arc and Breeders surely? Zulu Chief is interesting though.
August 5, 2008 at 16:56 #176200I’m not sure if Al Eile is going (didnt even know he was in it) and not sure he could win but i love this horse so would get a great buzz if he did run
August 5, 2008 at 20:45 #176220Folk Opera could run a big race if she turns up, got a good profile winning over 1m2f and 1m4f this season and has never won a Group 1 so may be a nice type.
Sixties Icon is another with winning form over 1m4f.
Al Eile will need about 8 flights to help.
August 5, 2008 at 21:55 #176230Can somebody supply their official ratings or a link to where i could find their official ratings please ?
August 5, 2008 at 21:59 #176232I wonder what weight Lucarno would get ?
August 6, 2008 at 01:27 #176252Mahler suffered a season-ending injury andyccfc.
Lucarno will probably end up with 57kg. The handicapper has a hard time because he needs to make sure the weights given are "inviting".
The nomination I like is Royal And Regal.
I don’t know why Schiaparelli is there. Hasn’t even appeared this season.

Zulu chief would be interesting but would he get in? When do the weight classifications come out? I’m looking forward to seeing that colt run again.
August 7, 2008 at 09:31 #176343Course he would get in!
August 7, 2008 at 12:54 #176362I can’t profess to know a lot about the australian handicaps Myles and i’m not sure of his current rating but given that he has only won a maiden I would have thought he would be too low in the handicap to get a run. Unless of course he comes out and wins a G3 handsomely, which would hardly be a surprise would it!!!
When do they frame the weights?
August 7, 2008 at 13:42 #176365Zulu Chief is still in Sunday’s 10f G2 Royal Whip at the Curragh. Hope he runs – and wins! Then on to Melbourne….oops, I think I’m getting ahead of myself here.
August 7, 2008 at 13:52 #176366He’s actually been nominated for the Cox Plate, which is WFA. And with that being the premier WFA race in Australasia, it becomes highly unlikely that he will be accepted.
Melbourne Cup would be different. But he’s not nominated in that one!
August 8, 2008 at 09:15 #176405If he won the Royal Whip impressively Moonee Valley would be falling over themselves to get him to the race. He’d have to carry a 4yos weight of 57 kgs though.
August 8, 2008 at 09:51 #176408I am certain the Moonee Valley Racing Club will want him if he can bolt in the Royal Whip. But why make the journey to Melbourne with the formlines he has?
Mount Nelson is a possible for the Plate, if O’Brien has ambitions to globetrot with the horse.
August 8, 2008 at 12:27 #176416If he won the Royal Whip impressively Moonee Valley would be falling over themselves to get him to the race. He’d have to carry a 4yos weight of 57 kgs though.
Why would he have to carry a 4yo weight when hes 3?
August 8, 2008 at 13:50 #176426Because if he races in the Cox Plate as a NH 3YO, he will have been of that age for 11 months whilst a SH 3YO will have been that age for 3. Hence the weight given as a 4YO to balance the books.
August 16, 2008 at 22:54 #177172I see Sixties Icon is slated for the Breeders Cup Marathon, someone should talk some sence to the owners and tell Melbourne is far more suitable.
