Well,
Anthonycutt
I am as confused by what you say as I am by KF’s riding today.
Open forum should never be a matter for censorship and I am concerned if you think it wrong to talk about such matters.
Oh, if it were only this ‘such matter’ but it isn’t. It’s one Moaning Minny after another.
No congratulations for the young jockey on the winning horse, nor fot a fine ride by the very young Harry Bentley later in the day?
No, all anyone wants to discuss is how bad Fallon is. Well if today proved anything, it’s only that the old guard such as Fallon are being caught up by a new generation of jockeys.
It wasn’t Joncol’s pocket talking either (he’s mentioned in the past that he doesn’t bet on horses), it’s just another whinge.

If you feel this is yet another whinge then I fail to see why you spent the time to post /participate in it, just look at those posts which you are interested in…
If you don’t like the topic who have no input bar slagging those participating in it then just move on pal
Its your time your wasting not mine

Surely Fallon is just too old.
He looks weak and slow. Not quick as a top jockey should.
If you see Murtagh or Moore change a whip compared to Fallon is chalk and cheese.
Id tend to agree, it happens to all sports people , its just age catching up on him and theres nothing wrong with that at all, its up to him wether he wants to continue thats fair enough but definitely Fallon in the saddle would be a big negative for me
The lack of support from various trainers to him as rightly pointed out would tend to echo that view.

Your very own attitude is the exact reason horse racing will never attract newcomers to the sport. Those who think they know best shouting down anything they dont agree with and reverting to insults.
You should learn to be more open to views no matter wether they are wrong or right. You cant always be right and its best to discuss topics rather thsn just shout down somebodys view.

Maybe your right but I just think hes much weaker than he used to be and is definitely a negative for me….
July 19, 2010 at 20:35 #307368Let’s face it the Chelsea and Man U are the Moore and Hannigan of the Jockeys, with Hughes being the
Man City, all the rest are not in the same league at the moment.July 19, 2010 at 20:43 #307371

Yes thats true but most premiership players are able to play 90 minutes just as a jockey should be able to ride a full race and not be so weak in the final stages…
Hayley Turner is Aston Villa
July 19, 2010 at 20:47 #307372If it’s any consolation to you Anthony it was a fine ride by Adam Beschizza in the 6f sprint on Rough Rock – as most people know he’s a star in the making and with the right breaks he’s a champion jockey of the future.
Harry Bentley did well to win on Seattle Speight – as he did on the same horse earlier in the month.

I’m gonna be extremely honest and reveal I made a stupid remark about a yard the other week which I received a warning of Cormack; but that ride was awful? Can understand what you mean.
July 19, 2010 at 21:05 #307380Joncol, having studied the race several times, I have to conclude that Fallon rode the race to perfection. It was obvious to me that we were witnessing a master craftsman at work.
Forget the likes of Culhane, Lynch etc. because this guy knows exactly what is required to win a race, right down to the shortest of distances. The skills on display have been honed over several years of dedication and practise. No Steward could possibly have any complaints about the ride whatsoever.
Now I know some people will suggest that it’s harder to lose a race than to win it when you’re on the best horse in the field but I don’t go along with that notion. Only the most talented of jockeys can kid some of the people some of the time but ….
Did you see the horse duck/stumble a little at the start?
Did you see Fallon use up some energy driving the horse up with the leaders? Did you see how many extra lengths it lost coming round the bend at speed? Did you see Fallon try to steer a straight course by pulling on the reigns a couple of times, though it seems the horse must have got the mis-read the message from the bit? Did you see the horse begin to travel too fast too soon and Fallon had to give it a pull a couple of times in the final furlong so that it wouldn’t run out of steam?
Altogether it was a cracker of a ride. I was very impressed.Ken

July 19, 2010 at 21:55 #307393Anthony, this happens on the forum every year in July. Call it midsummer madness.
All factions of the membership gets antsy. All the NH enthusiasts can’t wait for Chepstow. All the flat fans are burned out with following the complexities of the form. The BHA frustrate everyone with their lack of proactivity. The lunatic fringe use more crayons than usual and everyone is ready for August where we all disappear on our respective Grand Tours.
Worry ye not, sir.

On topic? Fallon = Generally Positive News (but for us Northern (ish) boys, there’s a new kiddy on the block now…)
July 19, 2010 at 21:59 #307396I think when you have gone from being retained rider at Warren Place (when that yard still had an abundance of Group 1 talent), to Ballydoyle via Freemason Lodge, to a freelance with Luca Cumani being your main source of rides, then it was always going to appear that Fallon’s ability in the saddle had declined.
Like most sportsmen I imagine that competing at the highest level improves your game, and unfortunately for Fallon he simply isn’t getting the leg up on the top horses at present.
I have no doubt that if he lands a top job ever again, he will once again prove himself to be a top class rider. Sadly it doesn’t matter how good a rider you are, if you are on slow horses then they will not find the gaps when you want them to.

Well we’ve got Ryan still in the south and his ride on the Stoute horse’ Blissfull moment was top notch tonight.
Without doubt, the best flat jockey there’s been in a long, long time
July 19, 2010 at 22:24 #307404Are you backing him, Matt?

Do you think the Stoute and Hannon legions will be enough at the backend?

No Mate, he’s becoming one of those jockeys that doesn’t ride everyday Hanigan will definitely win the title IMO but Ryan Moore is the classier jockey and for me he’s head and shoulders above everyone else in the game at the moment.
