August 12, 2017 at 02:07 #1313572Hope you’re having a great holiday Joni
Good luck with Laraaib tomorrow I’m at Newmarket hoping to cheer Tajaanus home in the Sweet Solera Stakes but having a saver on Poetic Charm as she looks very special.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 12, 2017 at 18:23 #1313703I knew your fate Joni with Laraaib before you backed it as I did him at 6/1 Ante Post….
Well done with Tajaanus Jac….
I went with the other Hannon’s horse Mayyasah in the comp but she drifted in the betting and pulled early but finished well enough on only her 2nd start to suggest with experience she could do better. Did you get a look at them in the paddock….?Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
August 12, 2017 at 22:59 #1313716I followed you in Joni but i had a saver on Frankuus. Think Frankuus is one of these horses who likes a bit of cut but is fussy with his ground. Very hard to catch right. Thanks for all your tips pal.
Enjoy the rest of your hols. Hope you manage to follow York and put up a couple on here

Lifted the spirits to see Frankuus come home today
(well done Wasps).
I’ll PM you next week about the paddock and pre parade picks, can’t get my head together at moment ..
I know Joni will be feeling this when he reads the news about Permian…
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 14, 2017 at 12:03 #1313852Awful news Jac. I hear Mark Johnston is getting crucified on social media for over racing him but that has always been his method and I don’t think he loses more horses than the average trainer. Just one of those things and terribly sad. Hope everyone is well. Managed to see Frankish win – delighted for him as he’s such a trier. Will be looking out for the big race in France tomorrow with Eminent and Last Kingdon taking on Brametot. Should be a cracker.

August 14, 2017 at 14:36 #1313868I also think it unfair to criticise Mark Johnston, as you say that has always been his way, just wish owners and trainers would think harder before taking certain horses abroad to race on hard surfaces, poor boy we will miss him. :(
Will of course be on EMINENT tomorrow in France, he’s had a nice rest and should be fit and ready to show them all the way home ;)
Was so pleased to see Frankuus lead all the way to win on Saturday even though I didn’t have a penny on him. Think that the Frankel’s are going to improve in the latter part of this year so not letting anymore slip through my fingers although I have to choose Eminent above Last Kingdom tomorrow even though the very soft ground may favour the Brametot camp…Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 15, 2017 at 10:07 #1313938I’m with you Jac. The ground looks to have dried out a bit and I think he might like a bit of cut anyway. Hopefully Ryan will let him use his stride and he can show everyone what he’s capable of. I’ve backed the other Frankel as well as he is an improving sort whose been brought along slowly.
£75ew Eminent – 5-1 winner
£50ew Last Kingdom – 11-1 lost"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
August 15, 2017 at 10:34 #1313940I have also backed Last Kingdom E/W at 11s. (but 50p not £50…I’m such a high roller
)
He looks smaller and more butty than Eminent and a lot of the other Frankels. Less impressive as he isn’t going to come sweeping past with a super effortless long stride and win going away.
But he gets down to work in his races, de Sousa knows him, Fabre has been patient, they are happy with the ground, and that more compact frame and thus hopefully better acceleration might come in handy at the business end of a race where there might not be lots of pace early on.
I am interested to see what way Eminent is ridden. He might get frustrated if held up and they can’t afford to let him scratch angrily along thinking about biting instead of concentrating on getting into his stride. Frankuus did well at the weekend being allowed to go on alone (blinkers may have helped) and that might be what they do with Eminent and let him show them the way home as Jac says. I haven’t backed him but really hope he runs a nice smooth race and enjoys himself.
Good luck today folks
August 15, 2017 at 16:00 #1313967Well done for keeping the faith! Didn’t see the race but looking forward to watching replay
August 15, 2017 at 17:58 #1313987You’ll enjoy the replay Green he was ridden just as he should have been Ryan Moore was the perfect pilot for Eminent, and he did lead them home as we thought he would …All The Way
Hope he stays in training as Martyn Meade says he will as a 4yo as know there is much better to come.
Well done Joni
Lady Frankel followed up with an exciting win after Eminent… I didn’t back her but Wow the Frankel’s are making August the month of the big comeback aren’t they just..Jac

August 17, 2017 at 05:31 #1314125Thanks guys and well done those of you that backed him. Just checking in and see that Ballet Concerto goes today. I think he is one of those typical Stoute improves and expect him to go close.
£50ew Ballet Concerto – 11-2 – Salisbury 4.20 winner

I’ve backed Tabarrak for this, with a saver on Ballet Concerto, Joni. Gone with the Hannon horse as the main bet just because when Salisbury does not have a false rail it tends tofavour those racing that side. Therefore, front runners do better. Suspect Tabarrak will lead and Ballet Concerto will sit handy. Love Elsey to win with Master The World, but doubt the pace will suit this time.
Value Is EverythingAugust 17, 2017 at 16:47 #1314157Well done Joni. Outsider Isomer making it surprised me; hadn’t done that before. Bit disappointed Crowley didn’t race prominently on Tabarrak, had to come wider to get a run. However, Ballet Concerto did it well in the end once getting through; so the best horse won. As you rightly said, he’s improving.
As expected, Master The World never got in to it from behind.Value Is EverythingAugust 17, 2017 at 16:49 #1314158What’s the verdict on Nelson later….
