She is still a work in progress FF but I thought she settled better today than at York. She certainly proved that she is a Group 1 filly and it won’t be long before she wins at the highest level. I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually step her UP in trip to something like the Nassau. I’d also quite like to see her bowl along but yes ultimately her trainer needs to find a way to harness her ability.

I feel that it hasn’t quite gone my way this week and that a little bit more luck with Sir L and SL could have had me well ahead. But we are probably about level and will keep going with a couple of bets tomorrow on horses who should appreciate conditions. My bet of the day is Fantastic Fox who runs off 94 in the Golden Gates handicap. He was narrowly beaten by Snow Lantern and Derab earlier on in the season and, as we now know, they are both 105/110 horses so he should be very well handicapped…

    £25ew Creative Force – 5-1 – Jersey – Royal Ascot winner
£25ew Light Refrain 12-1 – Jersey – Royal Ascot lost
    £25ew Rohann – 11-2 – Wokingham – Royal Ascot winner
    £100ew Fantastic Fox – 8-1 – Golden Gates – Royal Ascot lost
£2ew Lucky 15 with The Grand Visir +£166.40

A topsy turvy meeting but we ended up in profit so I’ll take that. Two nice winners today but SDS got it all wrong on Fantastic Fox who probably hated the ground anyway. His day will come.

I have one bet tomorrow. I think Sibila Spain could be a bit special and I take her to overcome her wide draw and run a big race tomorrow.

    £75ew Sibila Spain – 10-1 – Prix Diane – Chantilly placed 14-1 BOG

I thought she had it there! A great effort from that wide draw but can you believe bloody Joan Of Arc who I’ve backed every time she’s run apart from today?!!! Typical!!

One for tomorrow who I’m sure will go off a lot shorter than she is now.

I’m with you on Malathaat today Joni :good:
I saw her run 2nd to Air To Air last time out and she has a nice action that should transfer onto the firmer ground. :good:

Isn’t it annoying when there are two horses of the same name in training one trained by Todd Pletcher in USA by Curlin and the other by Frankel both fillys and both owned by Shadwell. Todd Pletcher’s filly unbeaten in all 5 starts her last two wins at Group 1 level.

I won’t be there to cheer her on today but going this Saturday..back on the July Course. :good: Jac

She ran like something was amiss didn’t she Jac? Never went a yard. Enjoy Newmarket on Saturday!

A bet in the group race at Newcastle tonight:

    £50 win Zeyaadah – 15-8 – 7.20 Newcastle winner
    £15ew Abstinence – 33-1 – 7.20 Newcastle lost
    £5 rev f/c

A really exciting day with great racing up and down the country. I’m playing cricket today (a crunch match that you’ve probably all read about – Abingdon 3rd’s V Kingston Bagsize 2nd’s) so I’ll be watching it all on catch up tonight. A few serious bets and a fun accumulator on all those Frankel’s (indulge me for once please!)

    £50 win Diligent Harry – 3-1 – Newcastle 2.20 lost
    £50 win Castle Star – 3-1 – Curragh 3.05 lost
    £25ew Dubious Affair – 11-2 – Newcastle 3.30 lost
    £50ew Hurricane Lane – 5-1 – Curragh 3.45 winner
    £2 win Lucky 15 -£8
£1 Super Heinz – Inspiral, Beheld, Logician, Franklet, Dubious Affair, Hurricane Lane, Spirit Dancer +£47.63

Yes Malathaat very disappointing Joni she just never got going and best left to see how she goes next time out

It was fantastic being back at Newmarket today on the July Course and I was a bit surprised not to see Anghaam on your above list. Frankel/Natagora filly by another 1000 Guineas winner she put on a bold show and won quite cosily in the end.

Frankel had 3 winners at Newmarket today and the Cheveley Park 2yo filly lnspiral was one of them. She produced a strong run to overcome the Godolphin horse Calm Skies and win going away
The other eyecatcher was Sayyida who was sticking her neck out beautifully at the finish even though she didn’t need to. She showed a really nice attitude n running and gave James Doyle a dream of a ride. :bye:

Logician and Royal Crusade were the disappointments of the meeting although Logician was head and shoulders the handsomest horse at the meeting Frankel can certainly turn them out.

I have some nice pictures of Anghaam and Logician on my Meydan Thursday Thread Joni..love to see you there. :good: Jac

Fab photos Jac and I’m so glad you had a great day and were on those Frankel’s! I was going to back that Sayida but missed the decent price so let it run but, yes, she looked impressive. It must be so good to be able to go racing again! I hope to get there at some point but weekends are mad at the moment with cricket and kids..

I caught up with all the racing last night after me match (we won by 2 wickets for those that are interested but I only got 12 :( ) Firstly – what an amazing win by Hurricane Lane! Like everyone else I thought Frankie had pinched it but HL never gave up and was a worthy winner. Watching the race again it was interesting that William Buick pushed HL into a handy position from the start but then clearly thought they were going too quick and reined him back giving Frankie quite a start. I think he would have won even easier if he had stayed handier and he must be a strong fancy for the Leger now.

As a sire, Frankel goes from strength to strength. I had a sneaky feeling he’d have a good day yesterday hence my silly accumulator bet but I didn’t think he’d get 5 winners. As usual I managed to make a bollox of the bet by ignoring the lesser fancied ones in the races he had two runners! So as happy as I am, I’m left again thinking what might have been. Still, a profit is a profit and I’m made up to see Frankel back in front of his dad in the Sires rankings. That will go to the wire I’m sure.

Today the Pretty Polly looks a Pretty Weak race to me so I’ve had a little bit on Cayenne Pepper who is a proper Group 1/Group 2 filly and a f/c just in case SB finally proves herself the second coming..

    £30 win Cayenne Pepper – 7-2 – Curragh 3.40 lost
£10 rev f/c Cayenne Pepper and Santa Barbara

A couple of small bets this evening just coz I’m a bit bored more than anything else (though I have been reading nice things about Beautiful Scenery..)

    £25 win Alambrista – 11-4 – Thirsk 5.00 lost
    £25 win Beautiful Scenery – 7-2 – Kempton 6.35 non-runner
    £25 win Taqareer – 4-1 – Kempton 7.05 lost

Will do Jac! Frankel is having an incredible season but I keep choosing the wrong one in races where he has two. Last night was another case in point! I won’t make that mistake today with another fun bet…

£5 win accumulator, trebles and doubles – Fall Of Rome, Magical Land, Side Shot, Triple Time, Nuance, Chase The Dollar all lost -£145

I’m desperate to have a bet on the Eclipse but I can’t yet be sure of how much rain they’ll get before the big race. If it continues to dry then you must be on Mishriff but any significant rain brings in St Marks and of course Adeyebb. There’s a big lump of rain due to hit at some point. Timing will be everything…

I’m looking forward to seeing John Leeper back over 10f today and he is a confident selection providing he settles.

    £100 win John Leeper – 13-8- Sandown 4.05 lost
£2 win Lucky 15 – John Leeyer, Indignation, The Grand Visir, Moshaawer -£12

Should be a good race today. I’m glad the rain hasn’t arrived and I’m even happier that Mishriff has drifted to such a god price as he is a proper Group 1 horse and will take all the beating. Later in the card I’ve heard good things about Third Kingdom and I think he’s go well too.

    £100 win Mishriff – 9-4 – Eclipse 3.35 Sandown lost
    £50ew Third Kingdom – 11-2 – 4.45 Sandown placed
    £20 win double lost
£20 rev f/c Third Kingdom and Run To Freedom lost
    £25ew Valaryian Steel – Haydock 3.15 non-runner
£2ew Lucky 15 Valaryian Steel, Hello Zabeel, Harlem Soul, My Frankel, Alpinista +£23.05
