Hi all!! Hope everyone is still alive and relatively sane and healthy. What nuts times we live in hey?!!!

I thought I’d give this one last crack as it will be the 10th. The last two seasons have ended up in the red but last year was pretty good for much of the season until I went on that run of (what I thought was) really bad luck with lots of “might have been’s”. Anyway I like doing it because it makes me more disciplined (I hate looking like a numpty) and I obviously like getting the contributions from you guys so feel free to write in you lovely people! A combination of Covid and Brexit has hit my business so the bets might be a little smaller this year but we’ll hopefully have some fun and make a few quid.

I normally start this thread next week in Dubai but I’ve had a couple of early AP bets and one of them that was given to me by an old friend familiar to many of you runs in Ireland today. Joan Of Arc couldn’t be better bred being a sister to Gleneagles, Marvellous and Happily and she ran a race full of promise last back end. Until this morning she was available at 33’s for the Guineas but that has just gone. You can still get 25’s if you hurry!

I’ll be buying Gordon, AKA The Ante Post King a beer if she triumphs in May!! He’s very sweet on her. Have a great season everyone and hopefully one or two of us will be able to meet up at some point…

Here are the other AP bets I’ve done:

    £25ew Joan Of Arc – 33-1 – 1,000 Guineas
    £50ew Snow Lantern – 20-1 – 1,000 Guineas
    £50ew Indigo Girl – 12-1 – 1,000 Guineas cashed out £95
£50 win Indigo Girl – Oaks
    Already advised – £50ew Pomelo – 40-1 – 1,000 Guineas cashed out £81

    Welcome back Joni,
Best of luck with the thread, has it really been 10 years?
Cormack will be along with a Blue Peter badge for you shortly
Looking forward to seeing Joan of Arc later and pleased that O’Brien is getting a run into her
Would be great if we can get racing, I’d be hoping to go Newbury for the Lockinge if Palace Pier lines up. I don’t think the horse was right on Champions Day and think he’ll be a star this year

Thanks Nath – would be great to see you at Newbury. Fingers crossed hey?

Joan Of Arc was a bit workmanlike but she got the job done and will improve a ton. Inevitably the bookies over-reacted and she’s as low as 10’s now but Ryan rode her like a good horse and she’s earned a tilt at a Guineas trial so we’ll find out a lot more next time..

Nice to have you back Joni and with some nice AP bets for the 1000 Guineas.

Nathan and I had already spotted the lovely filly of Frankel and Sky Lantern, we have 33’s in the AP contest and I also like Indigo Girl and another Frankel filly Zabeel Queen.

Best of luck with Joan Of Arc. I remember when Gleneagles won the 2000 Guineas we went to see him cooling down after the race. His groom was ecstatic and gave us all some good photo opportunities.

It’s been strange times but at least we have the racing and we are all still here to tell the tale.

Have the best Season ever Joni.

Good to hear from you Mark! Best of luck with moving house and hope you can still pop in from time to time to share your thoughts.

Just had a couple of AP bets on the 2,000 Guineas. It’s going to go to Ballydoyle methinks… (just for a change) :

    £50 win Battleground – 8-1 – 2,000 Guineas
    £50 win Wembley – 9-1 – 2,000 Guineas

Lining up a few bets for tomorrow but one of my Horse Trackers runs today and should win albeit odds-on. Sir Lamorak has all the right entries and should be far too good for these.

    £50 win Sir Lamorak – 4-5 – Dundalk 4.55 winner

    +£40

Well it wasn’t the most spectacular price or the most spectacular race but a winner is a winner hey? Good to get off to a winning start anyway..

A couple of early bets for tomorrow whilst the price is right. A real treat what with Donny and Meydan and I’ll be having bets at both meetings. In the Lincoln I’ve gone for two unexposed horses who could be a lot better than their marks and over at Meydan I’m reluctantly taking on one of my favourite horses purely because I don’t believe Space Blues is anyway near as effective at 6f as he is at 7f.

Brentford Hope has always been highly regarded by Richard Hughes and he put a few disappointing efforts behind him when bolting up on his final appearance of the season back over a mile. That WAS on heavy ground and conditions will obviously be very different tomorrow but I still fancy him to run well. There has been support for Danyeh and it’s not hard to see why as he will love the ground and looks another group horse in the making.

At Meydan I think Extravagent Kid is a huge price for a consistent Group 1 performer. He often finds one too good but at 20-1 he stands out as great ew value. More to follow tomorrow.

    £15ew Brentford Hope – 9-1 – Doncaster 3.10 non-runner
    £15ew Danyeh – 10-1 – Doncaster 3.10 placed
    £15ew Extravagant Kid – 20-1 – Meydan 1.30 winner
    £2.50ew doubles +£95.63

A good start but kicking myself not following JG today. Mishriff is one of my favs but I just didn’t see him being as effective at 12f. Mogul was clearly not fit which is annoying. Lord North was all class as well. Great day for Mr G and his boy.

Thanks FF and Wasps. Yes Gosden and Son (the new G & S…?) certainly off to a flyer which bodes well for Indigo Girl. I’ve had a fun bet with his three today:

    Guru – 5-2 – Doncaster 1.55 lost
    Alpha King – 5-2 – Doncaster 2.30 lost
    Taqareer – 5-1 – Doncaster 3.05 lost
