Just about staying in the black but it’s not easy!

Lots of Frankel’s running today and he can do nothing wrong at the moment but the one for me today is Hydros. He showed a lot of promise last season but has obviously had his issues. He is often mentioned in gallops reports and I think he could be pretty decent..

    £50 win Hydros – 5-2 – Newmarket 7.20

Hydros disappointing tonight but a nice couple for tomorrow. I’m a big fan of Derab and he is a confident selection back down in class. Also I think Abstinence will outrun her price at Newmarket.

    £75ew Derab – 4-1 – Newbury 1.50
    £25ew Abstinence – 10-1 – Newmarket 3.30
    £25ew double

Well done with your winning bets Joni. :good:
Hurricane Lane just turned that race into a procession and nice to see Japan win.
Back at Newmarket tomorrow and next Friday it’s Dalham Hall Stud and Evening racing with Tom Jones keeping his hat on afterwards. ;-)

There is to be a Stallion Parade at Dalham Hall and Pinatubo is there. said to be doing very well covering mares for his first crop..really hope we see him.

Been away this week but hope you had a great time watching Tom last night Jac!

A helluva day’s racing today. There are so many good horses running and I really hope Adayar does the business in the King George. He must have a great chance but I was hoping for a little more rain. Love will be hard to beat on her favoured ground but this is the toughest line-up she will have faced and she will need to improve a lot on what she did last time. You can’t discount Mishriff or Lone Eagle either. Not a race to betting the family jewels on but I’ve had a little bit on Adayar.

    £50 win New Science – 9-4 – Ascot 1.15
    £200 win Mohaafeth – Evens – York 3.15
    £25ew Walhaan – 9-1 – Newcastle 3.20
    £25win Third Kingdom – 5-2 – Newcastle 3.20
    £50 win Adayar – 3-1 – King George 3.35
    £100 win Moshaawer – 6-4 – Newcastle 4.30
    £50 win Reina Del Mar – 2-1 – York 5.00
£2 win accumulator and 4-folds £3 win trebles

Sir Tom was fantastic Joni and so was Dalham Hall Stud (will have some pics on Meydan Thursdays tomorrow hopefully). :good:

Hope you had a great holiday and didn’t miss too many winners.
Great race today with Adayar winning the King George and Queen Elizabeth. What a beautiful horse he is and so big Frankel really turns them out doesn’t he. Also well done with New Science. :good:

Nice Godolphin winner at Newmarket last night FALL OF ROME and another 2yo for your notebook Martyn Meade’s OBJECT looks like he might have another good horse on his hands. Fall Of Rome although by Frankel is very small and having been to Dalham Hall that morning we decided he is a little carbon copy of his damsire Dubawi.

Bet you wish you had bet those family jewels now Joni Adayar was amazing…Jac :rose:

I so wish I had Jac!! But just watching him win was a thrill enough. What an incredible stamp of a horse he is. I just hope they keep him in training next year. Imagine how good he’ll be when he properly fills his frame..?!

I’m at another offsite this week so not seen much of the racing yet this week but glad I missed out on today with all that heavy ground. Just the one bet for tomorrow. Time for Snow Lantern to show what she is REALLY made of..!

    £100ew Snow Lantern – 11-2 – Sussex Stakes

One hundred per cent with you and Snow Lantern Joni. she has to show just how good she really is today and quieten those who knock every race she has run so far.
Like you she is my only bet today.
What a terrific price you got.

Glad you liked the Dalham Hall pics it was the most wonderful day.
Talk about walking amongst giants.
They are so accommodating at the stud and don’t mind you stroking the stallions.
Farhh is such a character he loved the attention the most.
A day to always remember. Jac x

One day Snow Lantern will get a proper ride and we’ll be able to see how good she really is. That day wasn’t yesterday unfortunately and I knew she was cooked early on when there was no early pace. I remember dear old Henry would always get furious when his jockeys would come in bemoaning a lack of pace. He believed that a jockey in those circumstances should take the bull by the horns and make their own running if needs be. Snow Lantern had no chance in a sprint against a Middle Park winner even if she hadn’t been hemmed in. If you’re going to keep her at a mile then you at least have to ensure the race is truly run. But that’s the difference between the good trainers and the great ones or the good jockeys and the great ones…

A couple for today where I expect Joan of Arc to bag another Group 1.

    £25ew Aerion Power – 6-1 – Goodwood 1.50
    £25ew Youth Spirit – 10-1 – Goodwood 3.00
    £25ew Yibir – 11-2 – Goodwood – 3.00
    £100 win Joan Of Arc – 15-8 – Goodwood 3.35
    £3ew trixie

Good luck with those bets Joni. :good:

It was such a shame Levey was unable to ride Snow Lantern in the Sussex as I truly believe he finally had her worked out and would have had her up there with the pace ensuring she met no trouble in running

Spencer got her in a position where she could be locked in with nowhere to go exactly where Oisin Murphy played his Ace on Alcohol Free and he was within his right to make that move.

With Lady Bowthorpe winning the Nassau yesterday it must had already dawned on Hannon he had run Snow Lantern in the wrong race. She was so settled in the Sussex she was almost asleep and the extra 2 furlongs would have posed no problem.
We would have probably witnessed another Ouija Board Alexander Goldrun finish between the ‘Lady’ and the ‘Lantern‘ both top class fillies.

My lovely Arecibo takes on Battaash in the big Sprint today and once again Jamie Spencer is on board..so I’m praying he won’t give him to much to do. Arecibo won’t mind the ground, he is a strapping individual and does need to come from off the pace but timing is essential you just can’t play games with Battaash.

I have of course backed Glass Slippers EW and a small Rev.Forecast.
Can’t believe the winner of the Breeders Cup Sprint is such a big price just because she usually needs her first run..it’s not cut and dried for Battaash but he is of course pure class. :good:

Good luck Joni it’s been a tricky meeting to find winners especially with the weather

I couldn’t agree with you more Jac. There have been many threads on this forum over the years about what makes a great trainer a great trainer. Lots have claimed that there is nothing to it and that it’s simply down to the quality of the horses. I honestly think Richard Hannon has the best 3-year old filly over a mile/10f and it’s criminal that she’s only won the one major race. The sprint was sad yesterday wasn’t it? All good things come to an end and dear old Battash looks like he has run his last race. He doesn’t owe anybody anything after a fantastic career but the baton looks to have been handed on. Suesa was very impressive and I hope we get to see him clash with Starman before the end of the season.

Yes, Goodwood has been tricky and I have just two little bets to finish off the week…

    £25ew Chiasma – 9-1 – Newmarket 2.40
    £25ew Cabaletta – 40-1 – Goodwood 3.05
    £10ew double
