Another woman presenter, who is it this time? I really can’t stand Megan Nicholls, the only two I can cope with are Luke Harvey and the commentator, and he thought that If The Cap Fits was okay.
October 23, 2022 at 15:22 #1619773I know Luke Harvey a bit from Point-to-Pointing – he’s a decent owner trainer and he follows me on Twitter because I post on entries, results and clips of finishes at meetings I attend – and I defy anyone who has met him not to like him, really nice genuine bloke.
Not many of those in this game.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 23, 2022 at 16:15 #1619780In defence of Richard Hoiles,it was a low budget programme and he was commentating on the race from a van in the Cheltenham car park.
They couldn’t be bothered again to show the horses in the parade ring for The Old Roan a race that was the purpose of the show.October 23, 2022 at 20:29 #1619815Luke Harvey is fine when he is being serious. Awful when in “joker” mode. I like Hoiles though only really appreciate him when they use someone else. Who was that commentator at Limerick today? The very least I expect is for a commentator to spot a faller but all but one seemed to elude this one.
“Obviously” agree about Nichols.October 24, 2022 at 01:06 #1619870Didn’t even know it was on TV, does not sound as though I missed anything.
Not over interested in jumping anyway.I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains

I’m the opposite. I’m on a different channel for race commentary where possible.
October 24, 2022 at 06:00 #1619879Agree with Mike here. Hoiles’ painful puns are clearly premeditated; what’s worse is that he gets the basics wrong with shocking regularity, especially by exaggerating distances.
October 24, 2022 at 07:30 #1619883Hoiles is the eternal over-excited schoolboy anorak and constantly grates – his use of past tense “got to the front in The Derby, won The Derby” when commentating on live sport in the here and now (present tense!) is just one thing that annoys.
He hasn’t got 1% of O’Sullevan’s gravitas and sense of theatre in his prime.
Mute, mute, mute!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 29, 2022 at 13:05 #1620778It’s on ITV1 so Chezza’s tuned in, though the picture is breaking up a bit so might switch to watching the racing on betting apps on my phone screen usual.
Sticking with it for now, though, muted naturally.
I think Luke Harvey’s head gear might be interfering with the signal.

This is what I do too Chezza, though on my laptop if at home and on the mobile if I’m out, I really can’t be bothered listening to the drivel between races so it suits me just fine.
November 1, 2022 at 00:04 #1621215Has the Haldon Gold Cup been moved from it’s traditional Tuesday slot so it can be covered by Itv?
Great to see one of the best jumps races not to be live on terrestrial tv getting the coverage it deserves.
November 1, 2022 at 06:32 #1621224I was wondering that – don’t recall it being on a Friday before and it’s on ITV4 this year.
I mute it religiously, but I cannot fault the extent of the coverage – this weekend it’s amazing and pretty much all day on Saturday.

Idiots.
November 4, 2022 at 22:10 #1621627Watched all five races off the video feed at Betfair Exchange – bliss.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"November 5, 2022 at 00:17 #1621642I think it’s great that ITV are showing the Breeders Cup. It was seeing Lester Piggott win on Royal Academy on the tv that got me interested in American racing. For many years it wasn’t on terrestrial tv. I remember driving round trying to find a pub that was showing racing and, when I did find one a crowd of rugby supporters came in and switched it over to something else.
