Alice Plunkett came out with this great stat this morning – “Jonbon has not been fav in 3 out of his 24 runs, of those 3 he lost in 2” (Won one at 15/8 and second in the other two at 5/1 and 2/1)
Thanks for that gem Alice, look forward to many more.
December 6, 2025 at 12:38 #1746766The rule is: enjoy what commentators are saying, but never back a horse based on this. They will always tell you which horse is the best turned out (if only beauty equated to speed) and will tell you why the favourite or second favourite will win. But if this were the case the bookmakers would be poor and they are not!
If you keep records of what we are told to back, you will find you will lose money over tine. Do your own research.
December 6, 2025 at 15:24 #1746827Luke Harvey’s Pearl of wisdom, Il Etait Temps has race fitness on his side yes like the other four

The more I know the less I understand.
December 6, 2025 at 17:49 #1746844Why would anyone listen to the pundits? Many of them take money from bookmakers, so they have a vested interest in punters losing.
December 7, 2025 at 10:43 #1746898Not to be outdone by By having 20mins between The Becher & Tingle Creek yesterday,we have 10mins between The Hilly Way & Peterborough today.
December 7, 2025 at 10:54 #1746900Fitzy yesterday, he has won the King George and now the Tingle Creek I really think Paul Townend wants to win all the big ones. You don’t say.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 12, 2025 at 15:35 #1747354Ed explaining the Tisdall runners in the Cross Country have different colour caps, yes and different coloured jackets.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 12, 2025 at 16:30 #1747362You know those thought experiments where you must imagine a certain person has been kidnapped and he must send out an apparently bland note, but from what the note says, his or her friends will know something is wrong? I think Fitzy’s would be ‘There are plenty of of hiding places’.
December 13, 2025 at 13:55 #1747455Does Ed have to say without fail every time that the ITV7 is very winnable. Of course it is winnable every competition is winnable.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 13, 2025 at 14:44 #1747479Well, as has been said, it’s not perfect, but if you can’t or won’t pay for a racing channel, I for one am grateful for it. And Housekeeping fills my heart.
December 13, 2025 at 14:57 #1747485I love ITV racing. I also like the way it supports the smaller tracks like Kelso. They’ve done really well out of it. I need reminding about the ITV 7 because I always forget to do it.
December 13, 2025 at 18:56 #1747519Disappointing that there isn’t an ITV Racing Diary for 2026, have been buying these for 40 years since Letts first produced it for Channel 4.
Will have to make do with the Racing Post or IJF version, but these are not as good in my opinion.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
December 13, 2025 at 19:11 #1747520I used to get the ITV diary sometimes but (if memory serves) it didn’t contain the Irish fixtures, whereas the RP diary does.
Perhaps ITV think it isn’t worth producing a diary in an era when so many people do everything online?
December 14, 2025 at 22:17 #1747605Not being the biggest fan of ITV racing they do indeed give good coverage to some of the smaller tracks. Kelso for example had Adele um hmmm um Mulrennan on course as the days most valuable meeting, when the Peterborough Chase was supposedly the big race of the day at Huntingdon last Sunday.
December 16, 2025 at 16:55 #1747703The Peterborough may have been the biggest race of the day but the supporting card let it down.
Kelso put some courses to shame with their prize money. And that view of the hurdles course from on top of the wonderful old stone building is unparalleled in British racing.
December 16, 2025 at 18:12 #1747713Love Kelso , not been for a while so need to fix that
December 16, 2025 at 20:28 #1747729If you do go get an early bird ticket. Great value…
