Well, I turned the computer on this morning only to find, when I clicked on TRF a message saying ‘this is a gambling site and you’re not allowed on it!’. Somehow Kidsafe was blocking it from me; ditto oddschecker and W Hill. You can imagine the panic I was in, especially as, when I checked settings Kidsafe wasn’t activated. It was a scary hour or so before Kidsafe let me back on; like being in a nightmare…

@ Nathan…… you really ought to know better mate, the systems section has been dead from the neck up for a few years now and it really doesn’t matter how many times we try and breathe some life into it, it refuses point blank to wake up from it’s coma…. I hope old Bill can keep it alive a bit longer, he’s one of the good guys…. me???… I’ve run out of breath.

The LAZY Punter
Templegate is really having a dodgy time of it but being so close to Christmas it would be too unkind to sack him.

DEAD FROM THE NECK UP or ONE OF THE GOOD GUYS!
Am I to be flattered or insulted MrE?

I post here simply because no one else will have me. Such places are fewer these days and of those that remain I have mostly been ejected.
More interaction would be nice but I don’t have much else to do and am very used to no one listening to anything I have to say these days, so what is new about talking to ones self.
Your words are very kind MrE and I guess we are some kind of Odd-Couple.

@ Billy…. the “Odd Couple”, that was Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, I think that we are more like Gert and Daisy…. or perhaps Daisy and Onslow (you can be Daisy, you’ve always appeared to me to be a Daisy)…..

December 22, 2017 at 11:11 #1333437A Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you all.
I have not done much in the way of betting for several weeks now, simply struggling to find a plan of action.
One idea that I have going round in my head is to keep an eye on the top trainers of both codes and only bet when they have had a bad run of losers. The thinking is that every losing run must come to an end sometime but I can’t really decide just how long the losing run should be before I start to back the next runner. Do I pick an arbitrary figure, one size fits all in other words, or base the figure around each individual trainer’s strike rate?
Many years ago, back in the 90’s I used to do this with Jockeys and it was resonably successful but erratic.

Hello Purwell and if I may also wish you only good things for both Christmas & the New Year.
How interesting that you are thinking of taking an unusual approach to follow out of form trainers. I have an opinion on this.
You express concern regarding the opportune time to plunge back in and perhaps the answer can be found via one of dear old Fenman’s systems.
If I remember correctly he does propose following a trainer who finds success in an early race of a meeting and then betting any horses from the very same stable lower down the card as so often the trainer will have a double on the card.
So, in essence it is then believed the stable is in or has hit “form”.
Therefore why not wait until the out of form trainer/stable enjoys a winner which may herald the return to winning ways and so indicating your moment to start betting on his horses again.
I do remember trainer Bradley was cleaning up everywhere and then it all ground to a halt, he could not buy a winner. One pundit claimed his horses had been grabbed by the handicapper and he had to run them in order to get the weight off before he was able to get back into the winners enclosure.

The Lazy Punter
I am still uncertain if The VAMPIRE PLAN will be included for my long term plan regarding the lazy punter but with a win under its belt plus I am able to make any selection the night before I will continue for now.
CAP SOLEIL @ 6/4, Haydock 1.00
The remainder will be posted in dribs & drabs tomorrow.

I like to take a peek at BFLTO when returning within a week or so, especially if they were a market mover the 1st time, makes you think connections are expecting a victory

Today is the last day of racing this side of Christmas and as that very astute Irish Comedian Dave Allen used to say “May your God go with you”.
To make my final selections for today has been strange with a few conflicting choices and I do my very best to avoid such clashes and any selection police out there may spot a little divergence which is due to filter introduction to keep away from such clashes.

Moehat.
Your cousin may be very wise indeed but are there any additional measures that may have been added in order to reduce what could result in a great many from which to choose.

December 23, 2017 at 10:59 #1333614I had quite a successful “lay” system for beaten favs but it eventually imploded as I increased the stakes.

Everything I have ever read regarding systems suggests they have a certain life span before as you suggest they implode.
I find it very strange Purwell that just like yourself things go south when my stakes are increased and have not got a clue why this should be. (perhaps poor timing?)
As you may have gathered I also prefer the shorter priced selections, only to bet to win, rather than lose and think when I am on a roll you are not etc.
Favourites need their ground and are mostly favourites because they are high in the ratings but when conditions change, could it be the time to “lay”.

December 23, 2017 at 12:27 #1333658Where would we be without rab123 and HRB?
The 30% strike rate of which you mention, is this at the venue of the BF or for the last 12 months or overall?
May you enjoy whatever the season throws at you rab123
