Hi gang,
MIKE007,
we’re would NATIVE RIVER go then mike,he would be just be making the numbers up in the GOLD CUP,although the owners don’t like the race I think money talks and there’s a lot of cash on offer to win a GN,also there’s not that many races he could be aimed atApril 23, 2019 at 11:21 #1419421Connections want to try blinkers on Native River to see if they can eke out some improvement out of the horse. Could mean another Gold Cup campaign.
April 26, 2019 at 23:53 #1423350One For Arthur at 50-1 is a tempting price. I thought that Tiger Roll aside, he looked like the likeliest winner heading for home.
That was after an interrupted season, and with a smoother build up next year, I think he could be worth betting, even this far out.
What a story that would be after Tiger Roll. Double double winners.
April 27, 2019 at 01:27 #1423369Good shout Mark, certainly had me worried on that overhead shot, was effortless the way he came into contention.
April 27, 2019 at 16:08 #1423479Hi gang,
Nice run from TALKISCHEAP in bet365 gold cup,may be to young for next years GNAugust 1, 2019 at 16:09 #1450211He’s a lovely sort and had nobody to race against on his side at the finish so yes probably didn’t see his full potential…also a big gallopy type probably unsuited to playing dodgems on a tight track…interesting to watch this year. He has his place (win) over the requisite distance for the Grand National and the chase start this season so those boxes ticked, Elliot just needs to ensure his mark is high enough to be sure of getting in and he is free to prepare him however he wants.
It actually might be good practice for a modern Grand National horse…some moments yesterday reminded me of the ruck at the Canal Turn. Bodes well for Borice that he was unfazed.
Fair comment that from Greenasgrass on The Galway Plate threads with regards to Borice.
It can be a costly business following Galway Plate winners, but I agree, and certainly added him to my shortlist.
September 6, 2019 at 13:08 #1452957🐅 Tiger Roll has been confirmed by Gordon Elliott to be going for win number 3 in this year’s National on April 4th.
The best things in life are free.
But you can give them to the birds and bees.September 8, 2019 at 12:03 #1453169Don’t know what to think of this, ideally I’d like to see him retired, but even off of top weight, I think he should go close if they get him out this season in as good condition last year.
Even with all his exploits, I reckon he’s still ahead of the handicapper, and although I’ll be behind the sofa, looking forward to it…….I think.
It’ll be the same approach for me this year, and I’ll be adding him to NRNB on other lines throughout the season.
September 8, 2019 at 14:33 #1453191I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to watch the race….
September 9, 2019 at 18:27 #1453255Yeah first time ever Moe, I might just be the same….looking forward to it, and dreading it in equal measure.
September 9, 2019 at 18:41 #1453258I’ll be adding him to NRNB on other lines throughout the season.
Where I’ve done him in multiples, I’m guessing if he doesn’t run I’ll still get the money won on others or would it be a case of just the stake money back.??

September 9, 2019 at 19:13 #1453268You’ll get paid on some of them Nath.
If there were four in your multiples, then the 4 Fold Acca part would be down, but you’d still have the doubles, trebles….
If NRNB, that would obviously change things, and all the lines would be Live if he didn’t make it.
That’s how I approach it anyway.
September 9, 2019 at 21:25 #1453275Thanks Bob, that’s what I was thinking.
Done Tiger Roll in plenty of small multiples and done Elegant Escape in singles with NRNB as I think he has potential at the longer tripBlackbeard to conquer the World
September 9, 2019 at 21:33 #1453277Just been thinking about this race for the last 20 minutes or so, the first time since April.
Mentioned Big River on this thread earlier in the year. Jumping let him down thrice in big handicaps last season and would need to see substantial improvement on that front. He’s only had 17 rules starts, rendering his age (will be 10 next year) slightly misleading with regards to his capacity for improvement. Would be concerned that his jumping will just never improve. Has a phenomenal engine but errors will limit his capacity to stay the trip properly for me.
Step Back doesn’t strike me as the easiest horse to train. Lightly raced, even more so than Big River. Amazingly, he’ll be a 10 year-old next season having only had 10 rules starts. Absolutely my cliff horse and I’ll back him wherever he turns up. He appears to jump right on occasion, most notably in this race last year. That will always be a nagging concern and you’d think connections might just target the Bet365 Gold Cup again. He finished a respectable 3rd in that race and you could imagine he’d have run better without the hindrance of an Aintree run beforehand.
Tiger Roll is a wonderful horse but will permanently be a shorter price than he should now. Thought Gun Digger from the same ownership is worth considering. Fell in the 4 miler and pulled up at Fairyhouse. He’d need to prove his stamina (to qualify, let alone become a contender) but looked a shade outpaced over 2m 4f last season. His presence in the 4 miler would indicate they reckon he’ll at least be a 3 miler in time. Need to see more evidence before he cements a place on my shortlist but worth keeping an eye on.
I’m a huge Discorama fan and he’d be a strong fancy at this stage. Still licking my wounds after the Cheltenham defeat but he’ll likely have his handicap mark minded for a target next season. That could well be at Cheltenham rather than here but anything below 155 and I’d be massively interested. Others will obviously enter the picture throughout the season and Discorama would be the only horse I’d even half consider betting this far out (not doing my money on Step Back ante-post again).
September 9, 2019 at 21:33 #1453278Good luck Nathan, Elegant Escape an interesting one, he surely wins another decent pot this year……or two.
September 9, 2019 at 21:50 #1453279I dont think there is any race that would suit EE worse than the national.
Quite simply he would not handle the canal turn. Something like Tiger Roll is probably taking 15 to 20 lengths out of EE at that turn by the time he has stopped and then got going again.
Not a chance Tizzard will send him to the natiomal same as it was never going to happen last year.
