Ok that’s a heartwarming tale.

July 24, 2020 at 05:57 #1494809Oh So Sharp deserves a mention talking of great fillies. Last horse to win a version of the Triple Crown. 1000 Guineas, Oaks, St Leger.
She ran in one of the best, and for me the most memorable King Georges i probably seen too. Her, Rainbow Quest, Law Society, and Petoski coming through for a shock win under Willie Carson.
July 24, 2020 at 06:04 #1494810I’d be surprised if Enable front ran tomorrow with Sovereign in the field but if AOB changes tactics then yes as a plan B I can see it.
July 24, 2020 at 09:16 #1494814I think Enable is there to be shot at
O’Brien’s had options so you can’t blame him for splitting his crew it was always going to happen but other trainers could of thrown something into the ring.
The small field doesn’t bother me though I like them in that they become a bit tactical
Enable lost the last race and although is still a monster is very likely to be past her peak
Japan’s target is the Arc even O’Brien has said that, this horse should be in his prime this year and if he can beat Enable here it will be one hell of a statement for his Arc chance
Both AVD and Japan will want a fair pace so Sovereign won’t hang about too much I’d imagine as they wouldn’t want Enable to dictate the pace or sit behind a steady oneGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 24, 2020 at 09:46 #1494817Way I see it is Sovereign will go off in front like he did in the Irish Derby
Japan and AVD will then sit in behind Enable and force Frankie to do all of the donkey work chasing him down
So I have backed Sovereign and Japan
July 24, 2020 at 12:24 #1494819Apologies if one of my posts was a bit strong last night. I was worse for ware after a evening out.
July 24, 2020 at 12:49 #1494820If that’s for me not a problem mate.

July 24, 2020 at 13:18 #1494824No worries mate. Still in the champagne lifestyle from Khayasi no doubt

July 24, 2020 at 14:05 #1494830Curious that most of the Derby disappointments are apparently rocking up for the Gordon Stakes which offers a fraction of the prize money of this race, on a course which doesn’t suit every horse, particularly not those who failed to handle the undulations of Epsom. I wonder if some trainers were confused and thought that the King George wasn’t open to 3 year olds like the Eclipse.
July 24, 2020 at 14:17 #1494832Would be a challenge to beat horses rated as high as Enable and Japan too following a Derby disappointment.
July 24, 2020 at 15:08 #1494841Don’t forget horses that run in the Derby have a very bad recent record in the King George. Up until last year it had been 7 years since a derby horse had even run in the King George.
This year, the gap between races and hence recovery time is even shorter. It really is no surprise at all that there are no derby runners tomorrow.
July 24, 2020 at 17:43 #1494849That’s true Frenchy but that’s normally because Derby failures have run in the Irish Derby or the Edward VII at Ascot, with shorter or similar recovery times, often with with success
July 24, 2020 at 20:08 #1494856Neither race is as hard as a KG though Tonge
July 24, 2020 at 20:15 #1494858Irish Derby comparable at the very least.

July 24, 2020 at 20:18 #1494859That’s a joke TTC surely? Last 10 years Irish Derby is not even close
July 24, 2020 at 20:29 #1494861I can’t hide my disappointment over how uninspiring this race looks tomorrow after the treat we got last year between Enable and Crystal Ocean. Can you imagine the state of the 12F division when Enable retires and we have another crap Derby winner next year the writing is on the wall going forwards for flat racing at this trip.
