Love more likely go Nassau Stakes.
July 9, 2020 at 07:12 #1493272Pricewise tipped up Japan yesterday went from 8s to 6s.
Got to say I’m in agreement with that and had some 6s quickly. Should strip fit now after 2 runs back over 12f should go close and I’m happy to take Enable on all year. No problem if she continues to be a superstar but happier just to let her do it and take her on now she’s 6.
Japan 6/1
July 9, 2020 at 08:51 #1493282AOB got a few in this including Magical, its whether he sends Japan for another crack at Enable or gives the horse a breather and go elsewhere.
July 9, 2020 at 09:39 #1493286Did Japan have a hard race last time out? He might still be sore by the time this race comes around if so
July 9, 2020 at 09:56 #1493292He said this week that the plan all along with Japan was to race him over 10F for his first two races of the year and then step him up to 12F. He’s also been very clear that this family needs races to get fit. He should be close to peak for the King George. Love is an unlikely runner I would think at this stage of her career.
Will he run Magical again against Enable? She has the option of the Nassau instead. AVD will likely go as well, but there is a doubt whether Ascot is his track. I think Japan will be the AOB number 1 for this.
AOB on Japan this week
“It’s very possible he’ll go to the King George. We think he can progress again from Sandown”July 9, 2020 at 10:00 #1493293Where was that quoted Frenchy?
July 9, 2020 at 10:08 #1493295I remember after magical last race the connections said they think they have the beating of enable this year so don’t think they’d have a problem taking her on
July 9, 2020 at 10:08 #1493296Tattersalls Gold Cup the next day also a possible for Magical
July 9, 2020 at 10:45 #1493300Racing Post yesterday Mike
July 9, 2020 at 10:49 #1493301I can see Magical being given her chance again in the Arc for sure, but before that, what’s the point Istabraq if they can find her other Group 1s to go for and win? I’m quite convinced they rate Japan extremely highly. For sure it’s rare for Ryan Moore to talk up a horse as much as he has done in the past.
I would say it’s more likely Magical doesn’t run in the KG than does personally.
July 9, 2020 at 10:58 #1493302Frenchy, at the same time, you have Magical continuing running this year having won her 5 grade 1s. They can run their mares and risk losing more than say with stallions. *heads away i said geldings ffs.
What happens if Japan gets well beaten again next time out? He’s going to start looking much worse. I’d say if there’s a horse that needs to win their next race it’s him. Do you go in against Enable where you have probably a lesser chance, or do you try and take in an easier G1 to get him back + running? I know what i’d do.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 9, 2020 at 11:01 #1493303Fair
July 9, 2020 at 11:29 #1493306That was my worry with Japan Jack yes, I backed him for the KG antipost last year and then he swerved it and went to France.
Reading AOB yesterday though has given me confidence that’s his target now. I don’t think they can afford to swerve it at this stage of his career to go and win another bog standard group 1 in France can they? What else would he go for?
AOB would never ever run scared of any horse either to be fair. I just think with Magical, she has clear other targets to go for, whereas Japan really doesn’t have much choice.
I’m pretty confident he’ll be taking on Enable as the 5/2 2/1 second fav at Ascot.
July 9, 2020 at 11:49 #1493309Oh yeah it’s definitely a possible for him he’s said that. He could go to Tatts Gold Cup on July 26th, over 1m2 1/2 which wouldn’t be his ideal, but given how it’s been that last few years, he might get an easier G1. Open to classic generation this year it might be a bit different though.
I was just pointing out that with Magical, a mare, they are more likely to shoot high knowing they can lose more, than a potential stallion. Especially one that’s lost a fair few.
