Yes, Coronet is still in the game, and I still see her very strong for the Oaks.
I hope she will have a good run on Sunday.May 9, 2017 at 14:31 #1300157Talaayeb is looking quite likely to run in the Oaks by the sounds of things.
Angus Gold quote: “I think she wants further. She doesn’t have the speed for them over a mile, albeit it is only her second-ever racecourse appearance. I think we have learned a lot – she has got a fantastic attitude and takes it all beautifully, and I think definitely she will stay, which we have always imagined on pedigree she would.”

Yeah she’s still my number one for the oaks

Steve said her run “petered out” which is true but a lot of the time that’s due to the effort they’re having to make to keep up with these milers. A mile and a half on good ground around Epsom should be perfect for her.
Should be around 6-7-1 imo so the current price is very nice.

Oh. A pity as trainer sounded keen.

May 9, 2017 at 18:43 #1300173Another £5 bet on Promise to be True to win the Oaks @ 26.0
One of the only Group 1 performers in the race who will almost certainly appreciate a step up in trip
Wrong thread sorry
May 9, 2017 at 20:17 #1300176I have a sneaking suspicion that they regard Promise To Be True as their best filly. Stepping up in distance will be the making of her, wonder will she run in the Prix Alary on Sunday as a stepping stone to the Oaks.
May 9, 2017 at 23:06 #1300208Promise To Be True was my first bet on the Oaks last season. I felt she needed a minimum of a mile at 2 and would suit a mile and a half at 3.
Aidan insisted on running her at 7F and she looked outpaced in the Moyglare. A better effort came when runner up at a mile in the Boussac but bizarrely he dropped her back to 7F and took on colts next time.
This spring he again went at 7F and she was beaten favourite for the third time.
A couple of fillies who ran in that race, including the winner Hydrangea, were disappointing in the Guineas but runner up Winter landed the Newmarket Classic and two other fillies went on to win Group 3 races, so it’s strong enough form.
The down sides are that Promise To Be True has not got her head in front since last July and with four of her five runs being at 7F it seems they have taken a long time to come to the conclusion that she is an Oaks filly. The list of entries I saw for the Prix Saint-Alary, shows that Promise To Be True is not in the field at the moment, though Rhododendron is. Obviously she won’t take her chance so soon after the Guineas

HEAD (S) 66.500Looking at the Alary runners, the bottom horse won narrowly last time over 9F and she had finished runner up to Al Wukair last season. Her current mark is 8 lbs higher than Coronet on RPR figures but obviously things can change over the Winter. Freddy Head’s filly has fitness advantage on her side and perhaps looks a sharper sort.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 10, 2017 at 00:25 #1300212Thanks for posting this field, Steve.
I hardly know the French runners, but I am confident that Coronet will show a good performance, and I hope this is a good prep race for the Oaks for her. The date may be a bit tight, but Mr. Gosden should have a plan in sending her there, and if it were negative, Denford Stud would oppose this, I reckon.
Even my horse for the German Oaks, Peace In Motion, is in here. She is very hard to assess, but I hope for a placing for her on Sunday.
The Judge complained that I rarely announce horses before the race, but the reason is I just don’t know your horses well enough and often I can only let my feeling decide.
So now I can call a winner, if anybody is interested in German racing:
Peace In Motion will win the German Oaks at Düsseldorf in August, mind my words
.May 10, 2017 at 08:37 #1300222Think rich legacy has drifted out to a backable price today. Highest rated runner by a few pounds and is trading around 8-1.
Think I’ll add her to my initial Alluringly bet.
May 10, 2017 at 14:50 #1300251Enable put Alluringly in her place. Yet another O’Brien maiden winner goes off at a silly price.
ITV were waxing on about Enable for the Oaks but Shutter Speed tanked her last time and has always been considered Gosden’s number one. Teddy Grim was less forthcoming on that front but I know what I saw last time the fillies met. Shutter Speed goes Musidora, as you would expect from the number one contender.
Shutter Speed is settling at 4/1 and 5/1 as punters and bookmakers slowly wake up to the notion that Shutter Speed just got a great boost to her form today.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Played Enable today and am delighted that she’s given Shutter Speed a form boost too.
As I said on this thread, Shutter Speed and Gracious Diana for Gosden were my two oaks bets
May 10, 2017 at 15:23 #1300254Teddy Grimthorpe indicated in his post-race interview that Shutter Speed may go for the Prix Diane rather than the Oaks, as Enable is the more likely stayer, and they have concerns for Shutter Speed’s stamina, but the Musidora next week will decide it.
May 10, 2017 at 15:49 #1300256The Prix Diane would be a mistake in my opinion. I feel Senga will win the French Guineas and head to the Prix Diane. The Oaks is a much weaker looking affair I feel.
Enable is a solid sort but she is going to face better fillies than Alluringly, who had only landed what looked a pretty modest maiden last time.
The Musidora will tell us more.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 10, 2017 at 16:14 #1300257Mixed feelings as I watched the gorgeous Enable put an O’Brien filly in her place. On the plus side she has boosted the form of my Oaks filly Shutter Speed but, on the down side, they are now talking about this one for the Oaks and SS for the Prix Diane!!! As Steve says, I hope that doesn’t happen as I think the Oaks is there for the taking. Either way it is nice to see the Juddmonte colours with a couple of lovely classic chances.
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
May 11, 2017 at 00:30 #1300320If it really happens that SS goes to the Diane, maybe the real reason behind it is the much higher prize money?!

I’m pretty sure Juddmonte wouldn’t be overly concerned about prize money.
