What a horse hurricane run was. Will we see something as good on Saturday. Here’s hoping.

Indeed. Probably the best son of the mighty Montjeu. My Jockey Club winning punt on Shamardal was one of, if not the most, fortunate winners I’ve ever backed.

I really like the way Hurricane Lane won the Dante.

Mohaafeth is by the greatest flat horse ever out of a daughter of the second greatest flat horse ever, so I’m intrigued by what he can do.

    They’re my two.

So don't run, just like the others always do

I’d be very, very keen on Hurricane Lane if it wasn’t for his action. imo More suited by a flat track with give underfoot rather than going on the firm side of good around Epsom… However, without that worry he’d be a clear second favourite in my book. Therefore the odds now make him worth chancing. :good:

I too like Mohaafeth, bags of potential and his (still) under-rated trainer is capable of getting lightly raced horses ready for this (Shaamit). Usually knows what he’s got. Mohaafeth was so impressive winning last time out, would’ve liked him to have been taught something there rather than win hard held, but have to risk it.

Bolshoi Ballet is the obvious one, the field he beat last time out wasn’t a good Derrinstown field but he did win by a long margin. ie Plenty of space to fit good horses in between the front two…. And BB has the action and turn of foot of a top class racehorse. But for a horse so short for a Derby his “form” imo isn’t so far clear of the rest than odds suggest. Too short atm.

I’ll probably at least save on John Leeper in running if settling.

Mojo Star 80/1 5 places Skybet. On the face of it he has it all to do, and he has,
but his 2 runners up places aren’t at all bad. His 1st run last year he was
beaten a nose on heavy and on his appearance this year he ran 1/2L 2nd to
the very useful looking Godolphin horse Monobo, the pair pulling 8 lengths
clear in the last furlong. Monobo cruised to victory under hands and heels
next time out in a fast time. I think the 5 places isn’t a daft shout, and
I’ve chanced my arm with the 150/1 that’s still on offer at Bet365 3 places.

    Mojo Star 80/1 5 places and 150/1 3 places

Rain certainly a plus for the Godolphin pair Hurricane Lane and One Ruler. As well as Mac Swiney and Youth Spirit.

Bolshoi Ballet is too short a price. Hurricane Lane EW looks the value, followed by Youth Spirit, especially with Skybet offering 5 places.

Chamberlain will be praying for Mac Swiney so he can fawn over Bolger a bit more. Made me feel badly earlier to hear him rabbiting on about that “remarkable man”.

    Bolshoi Ballet out to 2/1.
His action is free flowing and pointed, something not at its best on a soft surface. Ground will need to dry out a lot for tomorrow.

Ground conditions either way have the potential to change everything.

Have now backed (in order of profit) Hurricane Lane, One Ruler and Youth Spirit, Gear Up, saver Mac Swiney. Every one of them at a bigger price than they are now.

Downpour should stop at 8:00pm tonight (probably be only good-soft by Derby time) but now hope it carries on raining!

No horse has won this and the irish guineas since 1975.

Ive added Hurricane Lane ew with 4 places on offer. The rain today has been a plus for him.
