    Rocco Forte Open

Eddie Pepperell 25/1 (40/1 1st round leader betting)

I had a stab at Eddie a few weeks back in the Open de Espana, but he did
his chances with a piss poor 77 in the 1st round. He nearly pulled it back
enough to make the cut with a 65 but just missed out. He didn’t do a lot
better last time out in the Trophee Hassan, which probably beggers the
question why am I chancing him again. For one reason it’s a very mediocre
bunch competing here, and at his best he’s better than most of these. It’s
only a couple of months since he won the Qatar Masters, and if he can manage
that level of form here, he’s good enough to win.

David Horsey 40/1 (45/1 1st round leader betting)

I think Horsey should do well here, it’s a course and tournament where he has
done well in the past. He finished 7th last year. He blasted his way to the
front with rounds of 64 and 66 last year and a repeat of that would do nicely
    in the 1st round betting.

    Jason Scrivener 40/1 (45/1 1st round betting)

Scrivener got to be a bit of a punt with me a season or so back, he has always
had potential, he just hasn’t made the breakthrough yet and won on the tour. He
had a damned good go at it here last year and finished T5, and like Horsey this
is a tournament that clearly suits his eye. He’s been fairly consistent this year
with a few top 20s, including a T6 at the Dubai Desert Classic. If he can manage
4 good rounds, I’d actually fancy him ahead of the other two to threaten here.

I’ll stick my fancies for the Players on in the morning. Best of luck guys and
I hope your good streak continues Raymo :good:

    The Players Championship

    Justin Thomas 16/1 (30/1 1st round leader)

Simply because he’s the real deal. Four top 10s and 2 top 20s out of his last 7
(which included a win at the Honda Classic) says it all. If he’s on a going day
    I think he wins.

Cameron Smith 66/1 8 places Sky (66/1 7 places PP 1st round leader)

I’ve said for some time that he’s a Major winner in waiting, this isn’t a Major, but
it’s the next best thing. He wasn’t far off in the Masters, T5, and whilst he had a
horror 2nd round 76 last time out at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, he started
with a 65. It gave him a couple of extra days off, so hopefully he’s been getting his
    game ready for here.

Tony Finau 66/1 8 places Sky (60/1 7 places PP 1st round leader)

I think he’s looked a better player this year, and he’s consistently been in the mix.
Four top 10s, including runner up in the Genesis Open, give him a chance here. I think
you need to go into this in good form, and although he finished T21 last time out in the
Wells Fargo, he finished off with a cracking 66. It’s a risk and reward type of course,
I think he gets the balance just about right so I expect him to in connection come Sunday.

Jimmy Walker 100/1 10 places PP (90/1 7 places PP 1st round leader)

As Flyers has commented on before, Walker has had his problems, but seems to be getting
back to full fitness and thankfully looks match fit after a string of missed cuts at the
start of the year. T20 in the Masters was followed with a 4th in the Texas Open, and last
time out although he finished T25 at the zurich Classic, he had a couple of rounds, 64 and
66, which show he’s worth watching.

Patton Kizzire 300/1 8 places Sky (175/1 1st round leader)

He’s not a player I’d noticed too much before this year, but there’s no getting
away from his wins at the OHL Classic at the end of last year and his win earlier
this year at the Sony Open. His 67, 64, 64 and 68 was no fluke, this guy can play.
The problem is that he’s gone off the boil with his last 3 being missed cuts. I’m
going against my grain, because I think you need to be in decent form for this. but
when I clocked he was 300/1 I thought I’d bend the rules a bit. He’s risky (hence the
300/1) but he’s good enough to post a good score if he’s ready for this.

That’s a couple more than I normally do, but seeing as it’s near enough a Major I
don’t mind parting with a bit more than normal. This should be great to watch, best
    of luck guys :good:

I’ve just stuck 30 quid on Jimmy Walker at 20/1 with Boylesports
for 3rd round leader w/o Simpson. I’ve got another tail to tell,
but as I’m nipping out to pick up a chinese (as I’m stuck in with
Mrs G watching Eurovision  ) I’ll tell it later….with proof.
It really is the good the bad and the ugly all in 1.

Ok, I’m trying to divert my attention away from the Eurovision Song Contest, it
feels like it’s been on for hours and were only at song 22

Anyway, this looks like straight forward aftertiming, but I’ll explain as it’s not
that straightforward. I’ve got 30 quid on Webb Simpson at 11/1. Now I’ll put my hands
up here, I didn’t fancy Simpson to win the tournament when I placed the bet, and
I didn’t intentionally bet him to win outright. I was checking the 1st round betting
and had all my accounts open and watched for variations. Simpson at that time was
generally 3 or 4/1, but I though Paddy (Power) had lost his marbles when they were
still showing 11/1. I jumped on it, and then realised it wasn’t the 1st round betting
I was looking at on Paddy’s site, it was the outright market. So I’ve got Simpson at
11s for the outright tournament, and it’s a complete fluke….but I’ll take it

My second bet in-play for the 1st round betting was when Stricker was sitting 5 under,
and Sergio and I think it was Cantley, who were both at 7 under at that point. There were
a host on 6 under. Stricker was generally 20 or 25/1, but Bet365 hadn’t reacted to his eagle
(I think) and they still had him at 66s. I thought Stricker was playing a blinder and he had
a shout with a good few holes to go. I stuck 20 quid on him. The leaders come back to 6 under,
or worse, and Stricker odds started to tumble, his cash out was £300. He birdies the 6th (his 15th)
and he becomes clear 1st round favourite trading at 1/2 and 4/9. Cash out was over £600. He was
playing solid golf and still had the par 5 9th. I was still swithering about it when the betting
disappeared, a minute later I found out why….he dropped a shot at the par 3 8th, and I was
completely f****d. It was worse that a kick in the goolies. What an idiot, it was just sheer
bloody greed. The slip is below…..

I suppose the only good thing to come out of my ineptness, is that I’ve got a bet on Simpson
and he looks the likely winner at this point. I hope Walker can keep in the e/w money, it’s
good to see him back after his illness. He just bogied his last hole when 1 shot off the 1st
round leader, so that bet is down the pan. I hope he can keep in the e/w money, it’s good to
see him back after being ill with Lyme disease.

Still the last round to go and strange things always happen in the last round. Johnson would
either need a round like Tiger today Raymo, or Simpson to crumble, but your man is capable
of anything with a golf ball so you never know. Darren your man Spieth is well in the money
at this time, but again he needs Simpson to come back to the field. Let’s hope we can all get
    something out of this :good:

    Bets in tennis at Rome

JELENA OSTAPENKO 18/1 WTA Rome open

While Rome more a slower court than other events in Madrid big hitters can still do well here like Keys who got to a final and Serena won here before.Things not been going great but she top clay court player going home early last week mean more fresher this week.May face Sharapova and Konta both can beat before Halep in semi final.

NOVAK DJOKOVIC 14/1 ATP Rome open

Slowly getting there he is though a loss to Edmund nt ideal but if anywhere find form it here where he got fine record here so a return to venue he adores.Has some easy matches early on expect him to win.Test could be Dimitrov in last 8 and Theim or Nadal in last 4.

    Bets for Byron nelson

    BEAU HOSSLER 40/1

At start of the year i pinpoint players for events and had this one in mind for this player.Beau has played at this track lots of times one event been waiting for himself. This a new track for most this week but not for him and showed class when 2nd to Poulter last month a serious talent he is

    ADAM SCOTT 25/1

When you hear people talk about this course they say it a wind swept links style layout not many better than this player from Australia who won in Texas before.Since playing with long putter starting to click into form and he a dangerman to all

    BRANDEN GRACE 25/1

Another links lover is Grace who won Heritage open and also gone close at Chambers bay which a course people say a pointer to here.He showed at Sawgrass that coming to boil he is and maybe this be week for him win again on PGA Tour

    HUNTER MAHAN 150/1

Has been playing here since course open he has had quite a lot of pratice rounds and this guy was a classy sort who had no problem in links golf.Like events in Texas to and not one to forget about.

Cheers Raymo, yes Walker was a decent e/w at 100/1. As I mentioned above I had 30 quid on
Simpson at 11/1, I’m happy to take the cash but I can’t claim any credit for it whatsoever.
I meant to place it in-play on the 1st round leader market, but because I was switching from
account to account, I didn’t realise I had the Paddy Power outright market up, which explains
why they were 11/1 at that time when he was trading at 3 or 4/1 with everyone else on the 1st
round betting. A complete balls up, but I’ve had balls ups the other way round in the past when
I’ve cost myself cash, so maybe I was due this one…..but probably not

    Belgian Knockout

As Raymo said, it’s the inaugural running of this event, so there’s not much
course form to go on, although obviously Pieters has an advantage in that respect
as he played here a lot in the juniors. I think he will have a lot on his mind this
week, as his family is heavily involved in the running of the tournament and for that
    reason I’m missing him out.

    Adrian Otaegui 28/1 (40/1 1st round leader)

I think this format will suit Otaegui, he’s a winner of the Paul Laurie Match
Play last year, and he’s bang in form having finished 2nd in the Volvo China Open
on his last outing, and finishing with a couple of 67s.

    Aaron Rai 40/1 (55/1 1st round leader)

He’s young and he’s yet to hit the mark on the Tour, but he’s playing some
very decent and consistent golf having 4 top 20 finishes in his last 6
tournaments. Nearly all of the big guns normally seen on the tour have
decided to give this one a miss, which can only improve his chances.

Erik Van Rooyen 50/1 (50/1 1st round leader)

He’s a big hitting South African who went close at the tail, end of last year
when finishing 2nd in the Joburg Open. Like Rai he’s yet to hit the mark on the
European Tour, but he is a winner on the Challenge tour and he’s had a couple
of good finishes this year, 10th in the Tshwane Open and T7 in the Trophee
Hassan last month. I think he has a decent shout here and 50/1 seems generous
    to me.

I’ll stick my Byron Nelson bets up in the morning (or later tonight if I can
keep my eyes open). Good luck guys, I take it your giving this one a miss
Darren. You’re probably the wisest one of the 3 of us in that case

Had a small bet on Matsuyama for the golf this week. First non major I’ve had a bet on in a long time for golf.

With my last bet Reed in the masters, hopefully Matsuyama can follow suit.

Saw he was 20/1 and thought it was a touch on the big side.

We’re away for a few days, up in Anstruther, and just back in time to stick a
couple on before the off. I’m about to head back out so I’ll just name them
    without much summary.

    AT&T Byron Nelson

    Jimmy Walker 20/1 (30/1 1st round leader)

He looks back to being at the top of his game.

    Aaron Wise 40/1 (55/1 1st round betting)

Looked good last time out in the Wells Fargo.

    I’m off….good luck guys :good:

HYEOUNG CHUNG 8/1 To win ATP Lyon open

With French open a week away think be a few shocks but for me feel Thiem is there to be took on with and Cheung who good player on clay ideal for his game can win it.Monfils for me only danger to him in half of draw. Can win it

LUCIE SAFAROVA 14/1 To win WTA Stratsbourg open

Like with mens event there be shocks galore but feel she a class act in field like and draw not look all that hard for her as not big names here who could cause her problems.
