“I have changed the 5 second rule for edibles dropped to one or two days.”

It’s inevitable the goal posts will shift during a cost of living crisis, gamble.

Funnily enough, only this morning I was pondering that Labour ought to have an edge in Parliament which is seldom readily apparent.

If you accept that Conservatism is essentially about the politics of self, there’s so much more money to be made for the intelligent Tory in the private sector and wealth is their main driver, their politics dictates this.

But on the centre left, condescending, patronising, nannying, holier than thou and downright boring though they may be, the sharpest ones aren’t driven by wealth but by their social conscience.

Many top Labour MPs down the years are/were lawyers who would be making a lot more money staying in the legal profession, but have “do gooder” not wealth as their main driver.

There are an awful lot of dim Tory MPs.

And I’d say Keir Starmer is brighter than just about all of them.

However, when Starmer looks behind him, I wouldn’t exactly say he sees some sort of centre-left Brains Trust.

NB: I base my latest sweeping statement generalisation views on the following model – wealthy Tory household: brightest child exits public school, goes into the private sector and becomes a billionaire, slightly dim child exits public school and goes into politics to push through legislation to benefit brightest child, utter thicko child is bankrolled to set up as a racehorse trainer and trains the horses owned by brightest child.

Behind the beauty of the British aristocracy’s stately homes and the sometimes romantic and eventful lives they led, lies a darker story: a legacy of theft, violence and unrepentant greed…

Chris Bryant, a former Anglican priest, and if I am correct, turned down inheriting a stately home. He just didn’t want it or that sort of life.

…I believe Bryant has been the biggest thorn in the guy – who as the Telegraph aptly describe is hanging by a thread.

Notoriety rather than fame – I think the public office of MP can throw you in the limelight
    – more so if you make the cabinet.

Must say I’d choose reclusive, anonymous, wealth over being a politician every time.

And I’m a Labour voter (though admittedly my active politics is confined to voting Labour at elections while looking after No 1 the rest of the time – in fact, I do a pretty good impression of a right-wing Tory when I’m not actually at a polling station).

I go back to what I posted just a bit earlier gamble. I don’t even believe some want fame as such. Teresa may hated it and Gordon brown looked uncomfortable

The other aspect of boris that isn’t mentioned enough is his total inarticulacy. I’ve never thought he’s as smart as some claim but that comes from having no core principles. He has nothing and has never considered real beiefs (too lazy minded) beyond his own power

And you don’t have to be a swivel eyed rand paul
Or tony benn nutter to have strong beliefs

Listening recent days to the sheer clarity of thinking from Blair and mandleson let alone job. Major and it’s a different world. As well as being more mentally agile than the overeducated lump, they have a genuine core belief whether yoj agree or not

Boris is a pound shop trump. The era of these cretins having power is over

Anyone really thinn that jeremy hunt sunak and gove are simply dim public schoolboys who couldn’t cut it in business (as Zahari and javid also did emphatically) ?

    Perhaps look at cvs ?

I would also cite Ex junior minister andrew duncan (who’s diaries are well worth a read). He was extremely high flying but settled for the political life he preferred. Nothing wrong with that at all

Clive you make rational arguments and conclusions but you are possibly somewhat forgetting that politics has become a passion play and some like watching the big theatre.
With all his faults Boris can play Bottom and King Lear simultaneously. The women say things in public but do the maternal thing in the booth.
I see the end but he is a mighty big animal to shift. His downfall will be through the other players knives if they follow through. The big question is who will replace the ” star ” actor ?

Yes they have other strings to their bow. Hunt sold his education publishing business for 30 million. He’s a rag in the betting. I think they may go for a woman – probably safer territory and less chance of a scandal !

“There are an awful lot of dim Tory MPs.”

Just checked to make sure I typed “awful lot of” as opposed to “all.”

    I did.

I think the next Leader may be someone who hasn’t served in a Johnson Cabinet.

I don’t believe he is too big to shift gamble. He has virtually no friends in parliament and even fewer admirers. And many loath him of course

Also the rest of the party must be looking at a cabinet stuffed with dismal lightweights and wondering what’s going on. This is hardly jfks or thatchers team of powerful minds. As with trump, Boris is tellingly very uncomfortable when surrounded with smart people. Ok trump is borderline retarded but its a significant point

Gamble. Maybe but if it’s the robotic and charmless truss then that will be one very poor choice
