Roger Stein stated,on his backstretch radio program, that Frankel knocked back 8 and settled at 12 million.
November 12, 2008 at 14:55 #189344He needs to forget about Bin Suroor as a trainer. His major sucess in recent years havent been trained by this Buffoon!! A terrible trainer with as much Facilities and money as the BAlly doyle operation. He is a disgrace.
November 14, 2008 at 02:07 #189638No in a word. Had he left Midshipman with bob baffert and let him get on with it instead of carting the horse off too Dubai then yes.
June 15, 2009 at 09:54 #11753Frankie is being brushed aside to allow an apprentice to ride the first choice for Godolfin in the QA stakes and not a word from anyone. What is with the conspiricy of silence by the racing press? Are they afraid to question the Sheik or Godolfin. Frankie was able to take the BC ride from another jockey and there were all kinds of explanations. Now nothing but silence. Is this the beginning of the end for Frankie because there is now an Arab jockey waiting in the wings? This must be the first time that he has had to ride the second string and be upstaged by the boy from the desert.
June 15, 2009 at 09:59 #233960Let’s see who finishes in front of who first
June 15, 2009 at 10:03 #233961Frankie is already in the bad books for failure to follow instructions in the past. Will he have the cajones to beat the boy?
June 15, 2009 at 15:43 #234004Why shouldn’t Ajtebi ride him? The owner rates him, he gets on very well with the horse, he’s already shown he can handle big race pressure and he rode a superb race to win a 28 runner heritage handicap over the same course at the same meeting last year. People have very short memories.
Frankie is racings version of Michael Owen at the moment. Might just be the kick in the arse he needs.
June 15, 2009 at 17:01 #234022If Frankie is Michael Owen who is Newcastle? Pretty sad what! Does this mean he is on the transfer market?
June 15, 2009 at 17:44 #234038Godolphin are Newcastle at the moment. Sheikh Mo doesn’t do transfers, maybe its time he changed that policy. Applied to not only the jockey either.
June 15, 2009 at 18:12 #234050I think Frankie will retire from race riding within the next two seasons. He lacks the motivation and enthusiasm he once had.

That goes without saying but there is no denying the lad gave it a terrific ride the states. He never let them down and he is being rewarded for it.
As far as Frankie goes I was listening to Steve Cauthen yesterday and he mentioned Frankie. He stated like Frankie he got to the stage where every day and chasing championships just didn’t mean the same anymore. He also said he never lost his appetite for the big important events.
Frankie is still Frankie and he can still ride half of them to sleep and I am sure their was no decision made without consulting him first. I’d bet anything Frankie was all for letting the lad keep the ride. He wouldn’t be with them if he wasn’t up to it.
This is a one off for the time being and and I wouldn’t read anything into it.
There is a lot more loyalty in racing than some people imagine, ask Sam Thomas, and jockeys take it in their stride when it happens.
You can bet Frankie will be first to say welll done to the lad if he wins.

If he had had to, it probably would have been through gritted teeth.
July 10, 2009 at 06:22 #12028never won a race and is rated 130. How about that! Where does that leave the rest of the Ballydoyle horses who ran in the Derby? Better than Fame and Glory? Hard to believe that STS is rated higher than 130 by just one point.
July 11, 2009 at 18:53 #239155He’s won two races.
July 11, 2009 at 19:35 #239163Not sure I follow you.
Master ratings are an expression of what a horse is considered to be capable of running to at its current best. The consistency with which it runs to that figure can be established from performance ratings.
Rip Van Winkle was well clear of the remainder when second to Sea The Stars. By querying Rip Van Winkle’s rating, are you suggesting that Sea The Stars should be rated significantly less than 132?
July 11, 2009 at 20:08 #239166Off topic, does anyone else find the Sussex to be a strange target for this horse, unsuited as he’s seemed to be by the undulations of Epsom and Newmarket and given the improvement he showed at 10f, surely his best distance?
