A nice debut by Thomas Darby but I wouldnt be surprised to see him over 2 1/5 next time. Seems like needing a step up in trip already
November 8, 2019 at 14:10 #1474331I thought it was pretty horrendous to be honest. The winner is rated a stone lower and was carrying a 6 pound penalty so it’s a 20 pound sway. Yes she’s had a run this season but if you want Thomas Darby to win the Arkle he should be winning that with ease. Absolutely no chance of winning the Arkle. Should be 66/1. Jumping wasn’t fluent at any point either.
November 8, 2019 at 16:01 #1474335Melon and Fakir D’Oudaries both declared for Navan on Sunday. Melon conceding 8 lbs as Fakir is a 4 year old.
November 8, 2019 at 20:09 #1474357She’s obviously much better than 137.
November 9, 2019 at 00:32 #1474386She would need to be 160 for me to consider Thomas Darby an Arkle contender. 6 pound penalty and a beat a length by her. That would put him around 153. She’s nowhere near 160 and not much higher than 137. Thomas Darby has zero chance of winning this race
November 9, 2019 at 21:59 #1474471Yeah, agree jas, hes 0 chance of winning this
November 10, 2019 at 15:08 #1474522Went in on Laurina at 9s to go with Thomas Darby in case she comes here and the Joseph O Brien horse at 25s in case he destroys Melon today who was on the downturn last season so has questions to ask.
November 11, 2019 at 08:54 #1474574Nicholls seems to think getaway trump could be a very good novice chaser
Says he was in a month later than his other horses and wasnt ready on his debut but he had to get a run into him before the arkle trial this weekend
He expects a significant step forward
November 11, 2019 at 13:18 #1474589FAKIR DOUDAIRES looks to have the pace for this im gonna have some nibbled at his price
November 11, 2019 at 13:55 #1474591I’ve taken the stand out 20/1 about Melon for this. Still think he’ll have a big say come March. Beaten yesterday but giving weight away to the younger horse. Faster pace in an Arkle will be right up his street. Banging EW bet
November 12, 2019 at 10:16 #1474642Fakir D’Oudaries best round of jumping by a novice so far this season.
November 12, 2019 at 11:32 #1474645Had an 8lb allowance as well which he wouldn’t have in the Arkle. Still a good performance from a 4 year old and another boost to last season’s Juvenile form.
November 18, 2019 at 14:28 #1475287Mullins seems to think melon needs further than 2 miles in his stable tour
November 18, 2019 at 15:51 #1475294He thought that last year and it didn’t go well. In fairness to Melon he settled better in his last race than he usually does. I always thought he was way too free for anything more than 2 miles. Always runs well at Cheltenham as well; something to keep in mind.
November 18, 2019 at 21:30 #1475321Mullins said after his defeat last time that they think he needs further as well.
November 19, 2019 at 00:47 #1475330JJM said that fakir had put in the best round of jumping by a novice so far
Well i don’t think that’s the case anymore, notebook already looks like a seasoned chaser
He easily beat some good yardsticks on saturday, moon over Germany is rated in the low 150s and he brushed him aside with ease
At 25/1 I have had a few pennies on, he seems the value
November 19, 2019 at 07:04 #1475334Id say the winner of this is defo coming from ireland!
