Nice piece on Carlow and Kilkenny Gord, very enjoyable read :) In actual fact Louth is the smallest county in Ireland, known as ‘The Wee County’. You might be interested to know that Carlow people are known as ‘The Scallion Eaters’

Where are you from exactly Tommy? Ireland looks a fine country from Google Earth!

I’m from Co. Wexford Gord, about half ways between Wexford town and Rosslare Harbour. I’m well out in the countryside, but I spend my weeks in college in Dublin unfortunately :? Wexford is known as ‘The Model County’ and ‘The Sunny Sout-East’, but you wouldn’t think that this past year! The Model County name comes from the belief that Wexford has great agricultural land and great farmers :)

Anyone who reads this legendary thread knows Loyalty is a word I live by whether it be

    Arsenal

my fav football team who I have followed since being born a couple of miles from Highbury and who have given me several FA Cup winning wagers over the years but have cost me dear in Europe! or whether it be Golf.I was a big

    Nick Faldo

fan and again thankfully had days to celebrate big victories,Nick was one of only a handful of Englishmen who have the bottle to win a Major,(Woosie calls himself Welsh),I keep saying it but the likes of Poulter,Rose,Donald and Westwood etc the current brigade might have team spirit but not one of them have the Mental aptitude capable of winning the ones that really count.

    Rory Mcilroy

can be forgiven his latest embarrassment because he’s come back from worse and redeemed himself, that lad has got what it takes but is a loose Cannon mentally.I spotted a talent some years ago in Hawaii in the shape of

    Nick Watney

which brings me back to loyalty as I have backed him again for this years Masters at 66/1 and 250 on the machine,I accept he’s blown any chance of winning with his first round 78 but a 68 and 69 see him sat in tied 14th place,I have taken 10’s to a ton that he can finish in the top 10 so I’ve still got an interest. Those of us loyal to the greatest Golfer ever have

    suffered

with him this week, had he not had ‘a moment’ which incurred a 2 shot penalty I believe

    Eldrick Woods

would be picking up his 5th Green Jacket,he may well still do it but the demons that follow him will surface today and make it harder than ever,he trades at 9’s this morning with a 4 shot deficit to make up on ‘Brandt Snedeker’,a player more than capable of holding out so its going to be some day,Cant wait! Just for the record if Tiger gets to within 2 shots of the lead on the front 9 he’ll trade odds on to win, thats when those of us with psychological degrees in knowing who can and who cannot handle pressure decide to press the Pink button!

Just had an e-mail asking "Should I take the 26’s about

    The United States

winning The Derby" I of course said No! I like the flashy Chestnut son of ‘Galileo’ but he has as much chance of staying a 11/2m as I have staying an hour and a half in bed with the Missus, this fellow looks a proper Miler to me just in his style of running never mind the fact his Mother was a flying machine, one who ran a fav of mine ‘Peace Offering’ close on a couple of occassions, her daughter

    Fire Lily

never even got a mile so I have no qualms about this fellows lack of Derby winning stamina. Those with long memories on here will know I actually backed ‘The United States’ Ante-Post for the Group 1 mile Racing Post Trophy last year,a race with a strong link to The Derby but I believed he would have been suited to that straight flat mile at Doncaster, another 4 furlongs around the undulations of Epsom are a different kettle of fish.I wouldn’t take even money today either as he’s up against a couple of very decent sorts………2/1 yes!

    I’m suprised

    Angel Cabrera

is not a shorter price Gord. He’s been there before and got the t-shirt, or jacket in this case, and I’ve backed him at 7/1. The only other bet I’ve had was on Phil Mickelson, who lost the plot a bit! Here’s hoping

    The Duck

can fly home in front. When they get to the back 9 there’s going to be many underpants filled but the Duck will just keep waddling away

I love the golf too :-) 2 of my original 5 have a slight chance of winning but good chance of placing top 6. My main bet is Matt kuchar who is the yank I am following this year along with this weeks very disappointing Hunter Mahan, my third bet is Adam Scott who continues to make too many mistakes but surely must win a major soon!!

I’m on at 50 and 33 both EW and this morning have backed The Duck as he can walk the walk or waddle the waddle :-)

You wont! I am like a Chameleon,I’m like an Assassin in the night,I’m like a Stealth Bomber and I can blend in to my background like Butter melting on Toast! You are like a Lighthouse burning bright in the Midnight Sky,a Baked Bean in a Tin of Peas and a Hairdresser at a Builders convention so when you hear the immortal words whispered "Value isn’t everything" you’re ‘Sphinkter’ will twitch! Beware,be very aware!
Then of course we’ll discuss the past year like long lost pals!

I backed Adam Scott twice in succession some years back GDC and he gave me the impression then that he’s a ‘Take it or leave it type’,in battle he wins nothing, sorry mate!

Gord this Adam Scott is a fighter he went head to head with Ian Poulter in taliskar masters last year won event in last 8 holes he did.

And if Watney plays in next PGA event this week he got a very good chance of winning.

darren I bet you Adam Scott doesn’t go round in 1 under par mate, there’s a difference fighting in your weight category to fighting above your weight and The Masters is definitely above his.

Early days to the final round of The Masters but with 3 Co Leaders my money would be on

    Brandt Snedeker

as his body language is so relaxed. As I write Adam Scott just birdies the 3rd………Early days!

More than anything else its Lee Westwoods putting thats cost him at least one Major in his time, there’s bad, there’s shocking then there’s Lees!! I learned all too late to stop backing Lee in a Major, both he and Sergio are the worlds worst Putters under pressure!

Tiger woods 75’s in running through 5……….+1 on the scorecard effectively puts him out the tournament and having seen his first 5 holes I have to say he’s not hit a ball yet!
