The Bobbyjo Chase is always worth a look with a view to the National. Several big runs have come from horses having contested the Grade 3 and it’s with that in mind that I find myself having a long look at Acapella Bourgeois. Won the aforementioned race only three starts ago and far from disgraced in either start this term. Was 5lb lower when third in the Irish National in 2019, but I don’t think his current mark of 155 is beyond him, even at 11 years old. He’s 66/1 with Unibet, but generally 50/1 everywhere else. I like to have at least one Irish outsider on side and he currently heads that list. A spin in the Gold Cup could put him just right.

Don’t know too much about this but just read Tiger Roll could go for the Irish National which would be Easter Monday 5 April I believe. Which will mean no entry in the Aintree version 5 days later.

    Possibly
My first thought is that it is O’Leary playing mind games to try and get weight he is happy with

I would say your first thoughts are correct, Nathan

After posting I read more and the O’Learys want a mark around 150.They claim if it’s 160 to 170 then it’s the Irish version. Shame really as he’ll keep the real hopefuls odds high.

Made the same threats last year. Got two pounds knocked off and all was forgiven. Problem is this year it’ll be the likes of Bristol De Mai, Delta Work and Santini who will have their marks adjusted to bring them into the fold a bit, not Tiger Roll. Unless he really wants to cater to their whims. I can’t wait for them to do away with this adjustment malarkey.

Still missing in action but looks like the trainer has requested a handicap mark for Champagne Classic today. Nabbed a bit of 100.0 on the exchange in anticipation of an entry, 151 looks workable.

    the O’Learys want a mark around 150.

That pair are the sort who, if you listed something on gumtree for fifty quid, would text asking if you would take a tenner for it. God loves a trier but hates a chancer as my old workmate used to say…

Great trials by Bristol de Mai and The Storyteller for Aintree at the weekend, very keen on the latter should he make the trip!

Doubt it would be heavy enough for Bristol , plus all his best form is early season

Just noticed bet365 are 33/1 on burrows saint

Very happy to have what for me is a good sized bet on that 5 places each way

If he makes it there think he’ll be single figures

Just watched his Irish national win again and he jumped and travelled like a machine

Has surely been largely kept to hurdles since in order to protect his mark forva tilt at this

Think hes a huge chance and 33s e/w is a knocking bet

I noticed that too, FF, but as someone who took the best priced 25-1 in November I’m rather worried about B365’s sudden apparent generosity without any media backup I can see?

Hmm, and beaten even further (albeit second) in the race before… Still, hopefully it’s significant that Mullins has kept him over hurdles till the weights come out? Ok, 33’s are too good to ignore!

I’ve decided to have a few pounds on Alpha Des Obeaux at 66-1 ew. I think he could come down a few pounds on Sunday. I think it’s a good price with nrnb
