GN entries close on Tuesday 2nd Feb this year and entries will probably be published around Noon on Wednesday 3rd Feb. Weights will be announced on Wednesday 16th Feb.

ScottyBoy here…last year was the first year I had no ante post bets, and the first time in years I didn’t log in here with updates on runners jockeys etc…..prophetic, huh? fingers crossed we get a good run through to April this time!

Is it just me, but amidst all the fuss about Royale Pagaille in the last couple of weeks, nobody has mentioned the GN for him.

Don’t give me this ‘he’s a novice’ schtick either, he’s a third-season novice who has now won three chases. Rule the World etc etc.

Highly unlikely QF. If they haven’t even decided on the Gold Cup I doubt they will stick him in here. Especially off OR166.

Was just about to share. As usual too many names to get my head around at this stage, however I was relieved to see my three bets entered up. No major surprises amongst them.

Yeah, I’d agree Peter, no real surprises.

Happy that Any Second Now and Bellshill are in there.

As could be expected, plenty to add to shortlist now.

Champagne Classic – Proper old favourite this, and followed him (when he wasn’t on the sidelines) for a few seasons now. Very interesting entry, and good to see he’s still in training.

Yorkhill – If Sandy Thomson can keep him interested, the ability is still there, then he could be able to exploit what still looks a generous mark.

Farclas – Mentioned him a couple of times as one who should have a big race in him in the spring. Another who looks as if he could be well treated.

Talkischeap – Really like this horses run in his Bumper, and he looks a realistic contender, given his well-being. Looks perfect for Ultima or old Racing Post Chase beforehand.

The Long Mile – Thriving of late, and a very interesting entry.

Jerrysback – Great comeback run the other day, and he looks one who could have done joy at the spring festivals.

The Jam Man – Won as he liked in The Troytown, and surely more to come.

Treaceysenniscorthy – Struggling to get in, but a big run this weekend, might just change things.

I’m hoping that Le Breuil can take the Edinburgh National Handicap
Race on Saturday at Musselburgh. Hopefully that would raise him enough
to have a chance of getting in here. Ben Pauling is desperate to get him
in so I think/hope he wins on saturday.

Just a note of caution, he also holds an entry for Sandown on Saturday but
I think he’ll take the marathon at Musselburgh

Id fancy him for that Edinburgh national too Big G

If he can’t win that then I cant see him ever winning a race again

Hes starting to remind me of folsom blue, always a running on eye catcher no matter what trip, track or ground.

Bob, I think Farclas is the pick of those on your list.

50-1 looks like a very good price here, especially with 5 places. I’ve added him to my earlier nrnb on Potters Corner 33-1

I don’t believe Farclas will run. 7 years old with just 5 chase starts.

I’ve gone back in again on Le Breuil before his run at the weekend. Last chance saloon.

You were right FF, I think that he would need 6m to win

Did you cash out before the race Mike

I think he can handle any ground HDLG, and I think he’s better than he
showed today but does seem to hit a flat spot and then run on when it’s
too late. It’s a pity because I think Aintree would suit him. Oh well,
back to the drawing board
