I quite like Our Duke. I think his so called inexperience could help him. NRNB 10/1. If he runs in Febuary, and goes close enough, i’ll be fine with that. I’d want a decent pace.
January 12, 2018 at 17:16 #1337044Totally agree with this, Zammer.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 12, 2018 at 23:17 #1337111I find it truly amazing that some people still say Might Bite has a bit to prove!!
This time last year Thistlecrack had won the KG and was odds on for the GC and yet Might Bite who has won the RSA and said KG is still 4/1 and currently the only conceivable opposition is SJ .
Go figure!! LOL
January 12, 2018 at 23:28 #1337117When you look at their King George’s literally, Thistlecrack beat Tea for Two by about 3 1/2 lengths (easing down?)
12 months later Might Bite beat Tea for Two by about 3 lengths (idling?)
January 12, 2018 at 23:46 #1337121The elephant in Sizing John’s room is what it was that led his trainer to say that she feared his three final races last term might had been too much for him.
It could be that she’s voicing simple doubts with no grounds other than she thinks things went just too well last season and the expectations needed dampening. Or did she see something in the horse’s early work that led her to believe the spark had gone?
He stood up amazingly well to tough racing last year but his debut win this time at Leopardstown looked to me like it exhausted him (not after-timing – pretty sure I commented on the relevant thread that day).
Many questions still to be asked with this fella and I’d risk no money to find out the answers.
January 13, 2018 at 00:13 #1337126Don’t write off Bristol De Mai yet Raymo
He’s been overdosing on Cranberry and Licorice and is raring to go.
Agree though Might Bite is a bit of a machine and looks all over the winner, wonder why bookies are being so generous with the 4’s.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 15, 2018 at 20:02 #1337594Not really been picked up I don’t think but Disko has had a setback and they’re hoping to send him straight to Cheltenham.
Was in a small RP piece, only place I’ve seen it mentioned which I thought was strange.January 15, 2018 at 20:30 #1337595I thought that might be the case when I saw that he wasn’t entered in the Irish Gold Cup. Its a pity, because I think Meade is of the opinion that he is a better horse than Road to Respect.
January 28, 2018 at 14:34 #1339594Just reported one of my own old posts forgetting the quote but has gone.
Anyway, topped up the 40s Blaklion each way with the 25/1 still available. Think he’s a solid each way bet for this.
January 28, 2018 at 20:41 #1339634Didn’t see anything over the weekend to worry Might Bite IMO he should be shortening for this!!
And yet 7/2 is still freely available!!
At this rate I will be skint by the time the race arrives as I couldn’t resist further investment at that price.
So now am on at 8/1 7/1 6/1 4/1 and 7/2!!Seriously with the phrase all eggs in one basket!!
January 28, 2018 at 22:08 #1339651Raymo it’ll be a nervy final 3 flights for you considering his previous few runs at Chelt…..personally i will look to take him on closer to the race.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 29, 2018 at 23:34 #1339842Good Luck with that Jack but I am happy with my position and I believe MB can only get shorter as we get closer!!
And the last three fences can’t be any worse than last year
January 30, 2018 at 07:47 #1339861I will definitely be taking Might Bite on. Worthy favourite, but as NH says there is no guarantee he’ll stay the gold cup trip and a concern is whether he jumps the final fence and and keeps straight. Big question marks he could easily disprove and win, but I would rather back Sizing John at 7/1 because those question marks don’t exist. The Lexus came very soon after his seasonal reappearance and doesn’t bother me one bit, with a good break and on good ground in March, I am confident SJ will defend his crown.

January 30, 2018 at 08:42 #1339865@raymo61 Haha that’s very true, i presume you backed him then, nervy stuff for his backers! i was on whisper

If he does anything like that in the GC he gets beat for me….but i am sure Nicky and NDB will anticipate it even morethis year and look to combat it some how.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 30, 2018 at 14:24 #1339910Am sure this’ll be mentioned quite a bit once preview nights get rolling but the old course is further away from the stands, so he has less chance to see the opening. The cut-off is a lot further down towards the winning post also IIRC.
Even with saying that i’m looking to take him on and I’m really hopeful that the proper Our Duke can turn up this weekend and put a marker down for 6 weeks time.
January 30, 2018 at 19:09 #1339936It was very noisy in our front room during the end of the RSA last year Jack. I was on Might Bite and Mrsraymo was on Whisper !!
January 30, 2018 at 20:33 #1339944Good to see Native River entered on 10th Feb for the Denman at newbury.
Had a racecourse gallop according to joe tizzard, and primed to run.Stable form not ideal for any of this lads supporters.
Giant strides last year, arguably tough season prior to his tilt at the gold cup,all of the main protagonists have questions to answer this far out,inc this horse. If NR arrives in the same shape as last year,a whole lot fresher, can see him dominating this field come March, very little improvement required on last years display.
Lets hope they all make it,cracking race in prospect.
