A few in mind for this :-
Houblon – Have loved this horse since he got me a place in the Pertemps as a 5 year old. Seems to have gone off the boil a bit. A good win in the Denman last season but it was a poor race and the Fav Rocky creek ran a stinker. Houblon ran his own stinker in last year’s Hennessy. Will probably need more rain also.
O’FB – Backed for the National but a late withdrawal. Not one you can really trust and has had his problems. But you have to think back to Smad Place last year who won this off a very reasonable mark and O’FB could also be thrown in.
Blaklion – Not a bad run first time out at Wetherby but connections may have been a little disappointed. Definitely needs a test as he is a strong stayer so hopefully the race should suit.
Who in their right mind organises their wedding for Hennessy Day. Will probably miss the race
November 14, 2016 at 20:09 #1272678we are going to take a chance with AUBUSSON AT 50/1 EW. ALSO VYTA DU ROC AT 25/1 EW THATS IF THEY RUN
November 15, 2016 at 17:02 #1272778So far so good with Triolo D’Alene standing his ground today, but I also got involved with his stablemate Vyta Du Roc before the 25-1 disappeared completely
November 15, 2016 at 23:29 #1272853Buckers, Triolo confirmed as heading there, so very happy

Bad luck VTC, any news on the reason ?
Your still in great shape
November 18, 2016 at 21:04 #1273193Unlucky, Bobby – a word beginning with F springs to mind and it’s not ‘Frustrating’!
November 19, 2016 at 01:23 #1273273I’m gutted about FBO being withdrawn. I had backed in a double with vatour to win the king George so that bet as already down the pan any way.
The current value is WOUNDED WARRIOR AND RIO DE FRANCS both at 40s.
RIO DE francs is on a very nice mark of 148, surly Elliot will exploit this with a big prize before running in grade company. In my eyes he is a 155 plus horse. He has entry’s to the king George so Gigi must think a lot of him. If this is target he will be running off 10-7, will stay and soft ground is not a worry.
My only concern is he quite weak on the exchanges and has other entries but have taken the risk and gone in on both horses at 40s EW. Surely one of them has got to turn if not I will be pissed.
November 19, 2016 at 10:16 #1273318lol Joe, I actually invented some new swear words when I seen the news lol.
He wasn’t my biggest bet in the race, but he was very definitely my #1 hope, and I would have been very, very happy to have nailed the Hennessy Winner at 50’s.
November 19, 2016 at 10:28 #1273324Yeah, still in reasonable shape on the race Botchy, so I shouldn’t complain. Saphir Du Rheu has been laid, as if he wins, it’s worth a few quid to me in other markets, and I still have a bet on him with the books. That’s kind of tidied things up for me in my book, and just need a few to come down in price in the week, and I’ll be fine. With Vyta, and Triolo hopefully heading here, that should be a formality. If Wounded Warrior gets declared on Monday that would me most welcome as well.
I’d like Saphir to win, as he would get me some nice returns in my Gold Cup book, and I have him for The Gold Cup Double at 300’s, while Triolo would be a huge win for me if I decided to leave him alone.
Another one I haven’t mentioned is Otago Trail. I’ve built up a nice amount on him for Aintree, and should he win here, then, that market would have a very nice look to it for me. He’s no back number that horse either, as Venetia quietly got him mark down last year, and I think he has a chance.
November 19, 2016 at 12:18 #1273355If Meade can’t win a big staying handicap with Wounded Warrior, he should retire !
My concern about whether or not it lines up next Saturday is if they have Aintree in mind and want to protect its current mark.
Vyta Du Roc might actually scrape in, which would be very nice for me and my 33-1.
November 20, 2016 at 11:59 #1273546Adding Theatre Guide to my shortlist with Holywell and Houblon. Ran a very encouraging race last time out so his mark doesn’t worry me, has run well in the race in the past and yard is in cracking form. 33/1 looks very generous to me!
November 20, 2016 at 13:26 #1273555Anyone heard if Drumacoo is turning up for this?
Had him marked down as a chaser to follow after his romp at Huntingdon last year and although he disappointed next time out (possible bounce),prepared to give him another chance especially as I assume he would be off a virtual featherweight.
November 20, 2016 at 13:56 #1273562Not hear anything Moyenne, but surely has a chance off of that Huntingdon run if he does go.
I’ve laid a wee bit of Vyta at 12’s, and added Hadrians Approach @ 90’s to 140’s. Interesting that he was left in, but NJH only mentioned Vyta & Triolo. Hadrians, who’s a Bet365 Gold Cup winner, is on a nice mark, and will be coming with a run under his belt.

He interests me a lot, but is he likely to get in? If 20 is the cut off point he’d need a fair few to drop out to get in. I’m more inclined to think he’ll go to Aintree instead…?November 20, 2016 at 16:14 #127359224 is the safety limit and I seem to recall a field of 21 in recent years ( I think )
I think a strong case can be made for at least 10 coming out between now and Saturday – I need 11 for Vyta Du Roc to get in.
If not, I’ll stick with Native River at 16s and hopefully the Warrior at 40s
November 20, 2016 at 16:21 #1273593I cannot see a way that Native River can win this. Surely they’ll go much too quickly for him?
