Glad he made it for you Joliff, and even “glad-er” that I didn’t bet Vieux Lion :good:

Saphir is blue across the boards for The Sodexo Gold Cup at Ascot on Saturday, and I’ve bet him for that at 10’s. A win there might make him less appealing for The Hennessy, but I suppose the ability is there to land both.

    Theatre Guide @ 50/1 EW

50/1 is massive for a horse that was 3rd in this race in 2014, 2nd in 2015. Fell at Cheltenham and then finished 8th in the Gold Cup Chase at Sandown where 3m 4f was not the right trip – he jumped the third last in front and then just ran out of steam which is fair enough.

He had a great season leas year and I think the market has completely overreacted to a disappointing fall at Cheltenham and an end of season run over too long a trip.

    His seasonal reappearance stats read 2013 – 1st, 2014 – 1st & 2015 – 3rd – so we know he goes well fresh & he handles all ground.

Colin Tizzard has had a great start to the season and I think 50/1 is a terrific each way bet if he makes it

Best of luck with those 2 ATP…..for obvious reasons lol.

I’ve now added Saphir Du Rheu at 26’s to 29’s, as I’d be kicking myself if his odds collapsed after a good run at the weekend.

Does anyone know the race conditions for Hennessy with regards to penalties? Im hoping this is prep run and he runs a nice race without winning

Although I’ve bet him for both, I’m not too bothered about him winning at the weekend either ATP.

Looks like it Jamie, he’s as low as 5’s Favourite now for Ascot. Might all be nothing, and Wetherby is still the aim, but it’s a definite plunge on him. I don’t recall Nichols doing this too often, though I did refrain from betting Rocky Creek at 20’s for The Betbright Chase in 2015, as PN had stated he wouldn’t be going………….before getting declared, and winning, anyway.

Looks like Nicholls is leaning towards Ascot if he runs at all this weekend??
Don’t understand why he’d go the handicap chase route if the horse is well and the Hennessy is the plan.

Interesting to see Saphir Du Rheu over fences on Saturday, makes me think the trainer is confident he can improve off his current mark this year.

I’m not really a NH chase type of guy, but after reading comments on this thread and today’s entry makes make me believe a good season is in store for the horse.

Good luck everyone, took the 25’s to win

Happy enough with Saphir Du Rheu today, and on the plus side, won’t be getting hammered for a big win. Even happier with the form of the Curtis yard, which gives me hope for O’Faolains Boy.

Yes VTC, on reflection giving nearly 2 stone to Antony could look some performance given time. 25’s still available @ 3 6 5 which seems quite generous to me. :good:

Better cancel the 25’s @ 365 , the allowd me £3.50 on

Trainers comment ” “He will go straight for the Hennessy. He had a right good blow.”

I just stuck £20 on SDR at 25s with B365 Botchy, they took it okay. Maybe you just
hit them at a bad moment ?

Just tried again and it was referred to a trader, then accepted.

Good stuff Botchy, I can’t see the 25s lasting much longer. At that price he
    has to be worth chancing.
