He’ll need about 150k in GSW’s to be sure of qualifying for the Derby (looking at 120-140k for the cut off).
Not sure what he earned tonight.
March 29, 2009 at 03:35 #219027He got $150k tonight for 2nd according to reports but there are a lot of horses around him winning and have accrued winning prize money.
He’s there or thereabouts but he’s not definitely in just yet
March 29, 2009 at 03:39 #219028Anyone know whether Donatavium gets straight in on his BC win? Does that count towards this?
March 29, 2009 at 13:11 #219061Donativum doesn’t go in the KY Derby (announced a few months ago I think) as he has no graded stakes earnings. The BC Juvenile Turf is still ungraded

Nice to see WillHills offering 20/1 on his still winning then! haha
Wasnt the whole point of Godolphin buying Donatavium based around running him in the Derby? Shame he wont get there
March 29, 2009 at 16:33 #219095Also, how can the bookies justify shortening Dunkirk to 6’s in places after last night?
Have they seen the race?
March 29, 2009 at 17:16 #219101They don’t watch the races

I spoke to someone in Boyles CS team about them quoting Run Away and Hide for the Derby and told them that he’d been retired (sent them a link to the article too). There response was to thank me and then when I tried to place £5 each way the next day at 8/1 I was cut back to £1.53 each way. (most firms still quoting him by the way).

You should PM Barry Dennis – I am sure he’ll accomodate the whole £5, and might even give you 17/2 if you ask nicely

April 4, 2009 at 03:13 #220159Mr Hotstuff could offer eachway value for those looking away from the front three in the Santa Anita Derby, but I suspect Pioneer Of The nile will win.
Muskett Man has two ways of running, like a good thing or a pig, depends which way he wants too run, if he runs well he should win up in the frozen north.
I Want Revenge should win the Wood, though that stretch win pick any holes in his stamina and Imperial Council could pick up the peices.
April 6, 2009 at 03:11 #220590That’s 3 for 3 yorkshirepudding!
RESULTS:
Wood Memorial ~ I Want Revenge
Illinois Derby ~ Musket Man
Santa Anita Derby ~ Pioneerof the NileChocolate Candy ran well off 7 weeks rest
and his 2nd place finish in the Santa Anita Derby
sets him nicely for a good run in the Kentucky Derby, imo.April 7, 2009 at 03:40 #220711Cheers.

(f) – FillyApril 7, 2009 at 21:32 #220789I cannot understand at all why Pioneer of the Nile is the price he is.
He’s the kind of horse that just does enough. Two runs ago he came from virtually nowhere and wide on the Santa track to storm past I Want Revenge among others.
The price virtually reflects that he isnt beating anything. I think he’s beating some of the classier horses in this division. The Cali division seems stronger than any others IMO.
However, Fresian Fire is a real beast and another whos price doesnt reflect his ability.
I’m on both of the above at 16s and am pretty confident.
I’d love to see Hold Me Back run well this Saturday. I think this is Dermeseaux’s ride for the Derby.
Trying to work out which horse Gomez will end up on. I’d like to see Bejerano get the leg up on Pioneer of the Nile if I’m honest
April 8, 2009 at 02:18 #220830Pioneer Of The Nile has worked but never ran on dirt, he looks like a turf miler, his uncle, chester horse ran on both, but surface at churchill is lighting fast dirt, with little cushion compared too the synthetics they run on in Southern California. Hence the price. its like asking a wolves specalist too run a top race at southwell.
I Want Revenge wont handle an off track if it comes up sloppy watch freian Fires price collapse. One thing too remember, Pioneer of the niles dad won the belmont on a very sloppy track, the colt s out of lord at war mare, he will get the trip and socal alweather horses often handle off tracks better than they do fast dirt tracks.

April 9, 2009 at 13:43 #221008Beautiful photos, Badactor.
That mountain in the background. Amazing. No wonder 51,000 turned up on Saturday. Oh, and those delightful ladies. *sigh*.
Keep em coming.
