I still prefer Native Trail as a potential 2,000 Guineas winner and I wouldn’t see either of them staying 1m4f at Epsom in The Derby.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 11, 2022 at 14:39 #1593017No coroebus in the greenham which Appleby said he would be
That’s a concern
Edit
Coroebus worked very well on Saturday and we decided afterwards that there was not much to potentially gain by running him in a trial,” Appleby said on the Godolphin website.
“On the back of the work he showed us over the weekend, we are happy to head straight into the Guineas following a racecourse gallop.”
April 11, 2022 at 15:40 #1593029A bit of rubbish that from Appleby. You know if your horse needs a prep run and you train accordingly, why a week before hand do you decide no it’s all good he doesn’t need one now?
April 11, 2022 at 16:08 #1593044Given this is a colt he ran twice in a fortnight last autumn, you have to wonder.
But no one’s aggressively laying him at Betfair as yet.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 11, 2022 at 16:39 #1593060Dunno about that newyork, Jim Bolger considered a prep run for New Approach but the way he was training they decided he didn’t need one. I’m pretty sure those kinda decisions have been made throughout history.
April 11, 2022 at 21:45 #1593108Bolger like obrien of the cuff mention a trail but very rarely run. Appleby has been adamant about a trail for both for some time
April 13, 2022 at 21:28 #1593513There is a form line involving Bayside Boy which suggests there is little to choose between Luxembourg and Native Trail.
However, while he has clocked a decent time for the ground conditions, Luxembourg has never got closer to a standard time than 2.88 seconds outside it, whereas Native Trail has been 1.97 and 1.92 seconds slow and broke standard today.
If the ground on 2,000 Guineas Day is anything like it was today, Luxembourg will be going quicker than he’s ever been in his life at a track he’s never raced at.
Coroebus has track experience, but 2.06 seconds slow when beaten is the quickest he’s been too.
It really does look like: 1. Native Trail, 2. Coroebus to me and if Luxembourg can get in the first four he will have run a good Derby trial.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 13, 2022 at 21:34 #1593514From memory, Native Trail is currently available at a similar price to what Santa ‘The Giraffe’ Barbara was for the 1000 at this stage last season, after winning her maiden. Anything better than evens is still decent imo.
BUY THE SUN
April 13, 2022 at 21:35 #1593515If only racing was as simple as that. Luxembourg ran amazing last year given he looked immature and weak. Id wait till guineas day but if he has really filled out then he will be a player in the guineas. Will probably find one too sharp for him and the Derby is his main target but I can think of far worse 9-2 shots. Aiden has an incredible record first time out in the guineas. Native trail will probably win but expect Luxembourg to a much better colt in the long run.
April 14, 2022 at 00:03 #1593595Native Trail different Class he made them look as if they were standing still…
He’ll win the 2000 Guineas and anything else he runs in, this horse flies through the air just like Frankel he was a joy to watch.
This is the 3rd time I’ve been there to see him and he’s getting better and better.
I’ve got him at 20/1 which I took after the Superlative using a just a £10 freebet and put him up in VTC’s Ante Post competition so hopeful he’ll give me a much needed 40 points boost up the ladder at the end of the month.
and a nice return for my freebet. There are some lovely photos of Native Trail at the beginning of the 2000 Guineas Thread that I took after his win on the July Course and seeing him today he has certainly grown into his frame and yes agree with ham he is going to be our new Frankel.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 14, 2022 at 06:48 #1593606And I thought I was Native Trail’s biggest fan!
I think Native Trail is a really good colt, his form is solid, his times are decent, too, and he goes to the 2,000 Guineas with a favourite’s chance.
As stated, I’ve got 5/1 and 7/2 about him for said Classic, so I will be rooting for him.
But I couldn’t have him within a stone of Frankel on what he’s accomplished so far.
I will be delighted to revise that opinion further down the line if it’s warranted.

Native Trail has a long way to go to achieve the dizzy heights of ‘himself’ but I’m sure like me and others on this Thread your going to sit back and enjoy every moment of his quest to achieve that greatness.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 14, 2022 at 08:56 #1593616Of course!
In the short term, I just want him to win the 2,000 Guineas.
I’m not keen on calling horses “the new whatever,” they’re all different.
But if there’s a horse Native Trail reminds me of a bit, it’s El Gran Senor.
Pundits talk about Native Trail “hitting a flat spot” in his races.
Maybe, he’s just lazy, which is a good thing as it’s harder to get to the bottom of (and consequently eventually sour) lazy horses.
There was definitely a touch of the “oh, go on, then” about the 1984 2,000 Guineas winner, who IMO grudgingly consented to quicken not once (to get past Lear Fan) but twice (to see off the late challenge of Chief Singer) before actually being back on the bridle near the line.
Native Trail didn’t actually do more than he needed to yesterday – no overexcited 2yo he.
I think he’ll be 7lb better in terms of fitness on Guineas Day, but won’t win by an inch more than he can be bothered to.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 14, 2022 at 12:04 #1593640I’m hoping Angel bleu goes to the French guineas myself
I doubt he will run at Newmarket unless there’s a bit of cut in the ground
Perfect power has Commonwealth Cup written all over him
April 14, 2022 at 12:20 #1593645Angel Bleu was IMO an immensely-likeable 2yo, who improved with racing.
But all of his progressive Pattern success was on Soft, or even Heavy, ground, and I think neither reverting to 7f nor racing on quicker ground will suit him.
The Poule D’Essai Des Poulains, I agree, would seem a more logical target.
Perfect Power showed a lot of speed to win the Prix Morny and Middle Park and the Greenham is often used as a 7f experiment to see if a 6f 3yo colt might potentially be equally effective at a mile.
There is hope on the dam’s side of his pedigree (influence for up to 1m2f), but there would need to be because Ardad won the Windsor Castle and the Flying Childers over 5f and the extended five (a mere 42yds further) at Yarmouth on his racecourse debut, was as far as he was ever asked to go.
The Commonwealth Cup, I again agree, is surely the perfect target for him.
