Without Parole runs in a mile novices race at Yarmouth today, presumably ruling him out of the Guineas. I can see he has a Dante entry which suggests that the Derby is being considered for him, but his pedigree would certainly suggest he should be more of a miler so I’m a little confused.
April 24, 2018 at 12:31 #1351751He has been supported for the Guineas this week Gun so perhaps don’t rule it out just yet. If he sluices home by 6 lengths then they might just consider it….

April 24, 2018 at 13:54 #1351758I certainly hope he hoses up this afternoon, Joni. This year’s Guineas is in dire need of an exciting wildcard in my opinion.
April 24, 2018 at 15:02 #1351763Without Parole wins at Yarmouth, hope he goes to the guineas.
April 24, 2018 at 15:25 #1351767He seems to me more of a Derby type
April 24, 2018 at 16:16 #1351772He doesn’t scream Derby to me Viktor. He doesn’t seem overly big but he certainly “has an engine” as Frankie said. He’ll certainly see out the Guineas mile – I see he is generally 12’s. Will be interesting to see what JG decides…

April 24, 2018 at 19:21 #1351815That was an awful race at Yarmouth. It’s not a great Guineas but those were horses who will be handicapping that Without Parole beat today.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 25, 2018 at 22:48 #1351968Without Parole given 117 timefigure by timeform
April 26, 2018 at 10:29 #1351989I’m sure Steve will have a few choice words to say about that timefigure. For me, Without Parole looks like he may have the potential to be a real top class miler. The English Guineas might come too soon for him, but I see that he is one of the 26 left in this morning, so hopefully he’s come out of Yarmouth well and is allowed to take his chance.
April 26, 2018 at 10:44 #1351990I actually wasn’t that blown away by him. Dettori was positive enough but, time will tell! Timefigure mental..

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!April 26, 2018 at 14:51 #1352007The Racing Post are usually higher than the official Handicapper and even they only went 107 for Without Parole.
I don’t recall many 117 performers at Yarmouth in my time and it’s got to be a worry for a race strength when the second horse is rated 86 and the third 68 on RPR’s.
I could well be wrong but I think 117 must be the blend number for that old beverage Ess Aitch One Tea

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 27, 2018 at 14:41 #1352176O’Brien says that, despite market drift and rumours, Saxon Warrior is still on course for the 2000 Guineas.
His quote was :-
“Things are still a bit up in the air but Saxon Warrior is still on the road for the 2,000 Guineas, along with Gustav Klimt, US Navy Flag and maybe Murillo,” said O’Brien.
Can’t say I’m confident though.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 27, 2018 at 18:29 #1352217My only two bets for the Guineas were Elarqam and Roaring Lion and now the Lion will be an absentee I am left with …
ELARQAM
Class and breeding will get him home. The best chance Mark Johnston has had in many years of winning The 2000 Guineas
He has a lovely turn of foot to quicken and pull away and in both his races over 7f he has been striding on at the finish. Johnston says he will be even better at 1m2f but he will need that little extra to get up the hill and he has already shown that he handles the track..His gallop with two other Johnston horses on the first day of the Craven was better than it looked as the two horses who galloped with him were blowing very hard at the finish and Elarqam looked like he didn’t have a hard time. He’s the one they all have to beat Saturday week
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 28, 2018 at 00:32 #1352280This is possibly illogical, but the fact Mark Johnston trains Elarqam massively puts me off him. His style of training really doesn’t seem suited to consistently winning big races and I couldn’t be confident Elarqam will be properly prepared for the Guineas.
April 28, 2018 at 00:54 #1352284Know what you mean about Johnston Gun that is also a concern for me but take the trainer out of the equation and just look at the horse and imagine he were trained by John Gosden or AOB then what would your thoughts be? He looked pretty fit on his gallop although they tried their best to hide the fact.
Attraction won everything before her as a 3yo in 2004 and Frankel’s record goes without saying.
Elarqam could train himself and the chances are that he’s going to have his ground too.
Yet to be beaten he looks set to run a big race Saturday week and I can’t wait to be there to cheer him home. Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 29, 2018 at 01:19 #1352485Have only just started looking at the race [apologies if it’s been mentioned but can’t read all the posts as computer is so slow] but does anyone fancy Wootton; in fact is he going to run? Is an early foal and has the magic description ‘quickened’ in his second race. Only aimed at 1 mile races by the look of it though. Have had 10 pence ew just in case [big bet for me!!]
April 29, 2018 at 02:21 #1352486I hadn’t thought about without parole for this and he seems like a type who will improve with the step up in trip possibly for the Derby.
But now you’ve mentioned it on this thread, he could well be a big runner if he goes in the Guineas. I’m looking for something to back and at this stage I’d side with Gustav Klimt if nothing springs to me. Without Parole could be that horse if he runs.
Looks very smart.
