how can this be nonsense? at the moment Douvan needs just to complete to win. If both Un De Sceuax and Uxixandre were in the race, we would have exactly that.

ham, we are all entitled to our opinions but we cannot categorically say CP was beaten. He may well have been but we’ve all watched enough racing to know what should win doesn’t always win and vice versa.

Seems like a missed opportunity to give one of the new up and coming UK female jockeys a chance in the spotlight. Does anyone know if Hayley Turner is planning to ride prior to the Shergar Cup? Riding out is totally different to race riding and being out for the last nine months or so would surely have an impact.

not to put a damper on things Jonibake but i thought it was the likes of Julia Krone worldwide and maybe Alex Greaves in this country that started things for female jockeys.

Totally agree Patriot1, why is Vautour running in the two miler when he should be in the Gold Cup? No disrespect to the other horses in the race but it looks like the easy option and he’ll probably win in a canter. And likewise your comments surrounding Annie Power, it would be a crime for the horse not to return to cheltenham to defend her crown. Whatever anyone’s thoughts on Mullins as a trainer, this is always the fear when the best horses are housed in the one stable. A season or two back i had this crazy notion of seeing the likes of Vautour, UDS, Faugheen, Annie Power, Hurricane Fly, Douvan etc competing against each other in a Champion Hurdle, i can but dream.

Having backed Don Cossack after Vautour’s defection, obviously very happy. But I do have to sympathise with Cue Card’s connections, what was Brennan thinking? Coming to the front having picked up the bridle, take your time! Nobody knows what he would have found up the hill, but picking up the bridle just before three out and hitting the front, you’d have to say he might have pulled right away from them. Bang
ing into Djakadam wouldn’t have helped his finish either, but very sad to see the race thrown away like that. Unlucky Cue Card. As for O Leary having a dig, fair play! Why if you have potentially the best racehorse around would you dodge the best race?
Why own and train the best horses if you’re too afraid or greedy to run in the biggest race. Who knows what would have happened if Vautour turned up. Great race nonetheless and well done Don Cossack.

Agree with you reference the ride Brennan gave Cue Card and wonder with regards to Ricci/Mullins/Walsh what’s going to happen next year if Faugheen is fit again? Will Annie Power be moved to the Mares Hurdle???

I don’t watch the morning Line anymore, tuned in yesterday as it’s the festival and was hoping for previews on all the races but….
The channel four coverage has gone downhill for a long time now; comes to something when Nick luck starts to go through the runners for each race but they’re trying to rush through the runners and riders as quickly as possible.
Must have upset or priced Coral’s out of advertising space as well, as I didn’t see any of their adverts before the Coral cup and hardly any preview of it.

They’re entitled to run their horses wherever they want but i can’t recall many examples of Willie Mullins/Rich Ricci’s top horses running against each other. Gigginstown don’t seem to have a problem running more than one in a race but the Ricci horses to me are kept apart. Okay, there’s an argument that Ruby can’t ride mnore than one in each race but regardless of what he may do in the future would Vautour, housed in another yard, have gone for the Champion hurdle this year? The same can also be said of Douvan and a year or two ago of Annie Power, Un deaux seaux and to a lesser extent Quevega. With so many more Championship races at Cheltenham it seems to me that they’re kept apart and races are found for them. Don’t get me wrong, i love to see all these good horses competing, just wished they’d be in the same race occasionly.

Not a big name horse but Iris de Balme winning the Scottish National, Zarkava the Arc and being at Ascot to see Montjeu winning the King George VI and Queen elizabeth Stakes, breathtaking.
