Why is Deep Purple 25/1?
On his form of the start of the season he has the beating of plenty of these.
Had a small wager on DP last night, but main money goes on Poquelin – just hope the rain stays away
Well i had Big Bucks in a treble with MM and Kauto – so that’s gone!
E/W i’m going to take a chance on Katchit. Already have him at 25s in an e/w double with Reve de Sivola(3/1 for the place today) who finished 2nd today, so fingers crossed for tomorrow. My big worry is King’s horses seem to be firing on NO cylinders at the mo!

Did Powerstation e/w at 40/1 a few weeks ago as well.
Dont worry about Kauto Star, the best horses get themselves fit regardless of stable form.
Been banging on about Nicholls for months, my comments about hoping he had a poor cheltenham seem to be coming true – karma for tataniano,
Only joined the forum in the last couple of weeks, so what have you been saying about one of the most ‘open’ trainers? – always gives punters top news from his stable, not just about horses running on a saturday in his sat column, but also pointers for the following weeks and months.
Top bloke in my view and a pretty successful trainer

Sorry, but i’m not one for armchair punters whinging about this and that – anyone in gambling land have to take the rough with the smooth.
Very quiet on the cheltenham threads today.
Is that because it’s the 2nd day and the excitement of the first day is tempered by the realisation of everyone that Cheltenham Festival winners are extremely hard to come by?
It’s a 4-day meet; i’ve often had a better last 2 days.
1 winner, 1 e/w so far.Picked up an e/w on Michael Flips at 33s – evens for me on the day now in terms of winnings/lost money.
My main bet of the day to come in the next, Sanctuaire. No Bumper bet for me.Laying? Wonder how Kauto Star will fare on Friday!
And with forecast rain tomorrow and Friday, it could certainly be interesting.
I’ll reserve proper judgement on Nicholls’ horses until after the 4.40, because he’s been sweet on Sanctuaire for weeks now.
EDIT: What about Big Bucks tomorrow – supposedly bomb proof!

Bookies must be loving it at the mo!
Nicholls horses????
Made me a nice few quid this winter!

Distraught
Citizen Vic died
I thought he was going to win for me

but such a classy jumper died today.
Was as good as any of them today.
The stable must be distraught he was a star.

Day is not worth anything after that nw
Gutted! He was part of a winning double in Ireland the other Sunday for me.
Didn’t back him today, but what a gutter!
Couldn’t resist a punt just now on ruby’s ride, Deutschland – this damned Coral Cup always sucks me in to back a few!

Citizen Vic for me, too. As people have said before, there aren’t all that many longer distance races in Ireland, so they tend to be campaigned over shorter trips. There are question marks over the other horses and, to be honest, this is a dark horse for me, so could be anything. [spoken as a true mug punter of the highest order!]
But his win in Ireland the other week was on soft ground; will he be so effective on decent good ground?
Michael Flips e/w for me and On Raglan Road on the nose.
Yep, he wasn’t for me but that was mightily impressive…
On a seperate note, that ground looks plenty fast enought, they were strung out like a washing line!
Certainly is fast enough – i suspect there’s v.little ‘soft’ left in the going now.
I said yday with the dry, sunny couple of days it would dry out fast.- no surprise.
Today’s shirt is already off my back!
Must check my wardrobe to make sure i have enough for the remainder of the week!

Quite brilliant!
Even though i wasn’t on.
Destroyed them!
SE drifting…
Will the Sizing Europe doubters now shut up!!
He won it nice.
Shame i was on Capt Cee Bee – very disappointing.Once again Cheltenham exposes a so-called ‘good thing’. I was on GMOH – didn’t do much wrong, maybe would’ve caught the winner if the final hurdle hadn’t been moved, but the winner won fairly and squarely.
Should be interesting for the CH, though with that final hurdle position.
Ground wasn’t throwing up anything, so it must be good ground now. Plodders need not apply for the rest of today.
Do you think the ground will dry out enough for the fast ground horses to hold a huge advantage?
We had a fairly severe winter so it may take a hell of a lot for the ground to be deemed proper good ground.
Agreed Ben. But Cheltenham have watered on and off for a week now, so it couldn’t have been that soft. We’ve had little rain here (i live in Bristol, not too far from Cheltenham) for a few weeks now.
It’s a beautiful day here – clear blue skies, sunny, temps forecast to get to 13celsius by 1/2 o’clock. Same for tom. Cheltenham forecast much the same. Quick drying course.
It’s also worth remembering that horses haven’t run on decent ground almost all winter when racing, so expect a few ‘surprises’. Thursday/Friday looks different – rain forecast – A Cheltenham Festival of 2 halves, so to speak!- AuthorPosts
