Starmer and Reeves do a ‘Darling’ on the next PM and Chancellor.
£5BN funding gap for defence budget.
So, the plans announced today wont last then
Shambles.
An engineered by-election to accomodate him.
A (likely) safe passage for him to just step in to the Prime Minister role.
No questions allowed from journalists.
No parliamentary scrutiny until September.
A new mandate, quite radical it looks like, with NO mandate actually voted for by the electorate.
Just telling people what he will do.Remind me, What democratic country are we in?
Very concerning, across all political viewpoints, at the sheer arrogance of this guy.
Personally, i think this may play into the ‘broad’ Right’s hands.I’ve unashamedly nicked this, from elsewhere:
Am I alone in wondering how creating extra layers of bureaucracy and thousands more civil servants and govt employees shuffling paperwork is going to help improve the economy?
Try reading the room: cut welfare, cut taxes, cut bureaucracy and red tape, make it easier for businesses to do business, build more nuclear power to stabilise utility prices.
Do not faff around with more devolution. One of my cliff horses:
Getreadytorumble 16s win only

Not my side of politics, but, yes, he certainly has an air of arrogance about him.
However, many successful people do have arrogant traits, incl politicians, sports people, business people, etc.
It’s often their arrogance that boosts their success. As for Burnham’s rumoured plans.
Well, devolved powers and, more importantly, the revenue that will accompany local devolution, risks a massive increase in bureaucracy and its associated cost. Every area will have whole new local departments, costing £Ms, maybe £BNs. I can already see local bigwig after bigwig, with huge salaries and benefits, swanning around the local areas, promoting how brilliant they are and what a transformation they’ve made to the local area.

Burnham’s team are already (allegedly) considering a property tax, c0.48%. Certainly around here that would cost a working household (national average household income, living in a £350k property) about £150/month. That’s steep and unaffordable for many.
No surprise to peeps on here, but i can see a Burnham-led government costing working peeps a lot of money, whilst the benefits merchants (of working age i.e. below SPA) can continue to just carry on.
A new Labour, for the shirkers not the workers.
James J Braddock also at WH boosted odds of 11.98/1

WD Mike and RTB

Sax Appeal 22s win only (BOG)

2 in this:
Kirchner 18s win only
Aqwaam 33s each way (1st 6)

Ferrous 12s win only

PIP – surges past 4 million.
Unsustainable.
Weed out the shirkers, get back to supporting workers. And, i repeat, from months ago:
No passports for those on out-of-work or disability benefits.
Peeps tick their boxes for claiming disability, but, somehow, manage to get on planes and have 2 weeks getting around cruise ships.
Jeez, the number of peeps struggling to walk and breathe, on ships we’ve travelled on, in last 2 years is staggering.
Still, a year’s worth of payments literally paysfor a couple’s 2-week cruise. He wont touch the triple lock – massive voter base and that age group actually turn out to vote.
Policy shift to The Left incoming.
More borrowing, higher taxes and, likely, little will be done about the bloated Welfare bill.
It’s government policy and direction that really matters, not the leader.
Any hints of immediate nationalisation, vast increases in borrowing, taxes, etc will spook the markets and he’ll have to run for cover.
Mitbaahy 40s each way (1st 6)

Beautiful. Out and about so didnt watch. Will catch up with the race later. Thanks guys

Flushing Meadows 16s
Crest Of Fire 22s
