Negative feedback for Betfair? Panorama was a huge positive for the exchange that allows the offical watchdog to have direct and dynamic access to their trading engine. BFSP is the real market SP.

Anzum, I don’t really care if the evidence was not proof to ensure a criminal conviction but what we saw in the program is certainly enough to rid these cheats from our sport.

The BHA have all they need to warn off a number of people featured. If they have access to the police files they must take action.

I think the Panorama team did a good job and it was much better than their first production six years ago.

Why did the HRA not have the same access to police evidence as the BBC? Surely there is enough there for action to be taken against a few of those featured and warn them off for life?

The horse was called…………………. Nah can’t do that! I like TRF.

I backed a horse I owned and was told (by a a good friend and bookmaker I have known for years) when the horses were on the way to the start it would be pulled up. The jockey completely ignored the instructions he had been given and never put the horse in the race and pulled up. He said afterwards it was never traveling and he looked after it for another day.

Yes, I backed a horse I owned when it was not off and ridden by a well known northern jump jockey.

Take an egomaniac bookmaker and give him an opportunity to score and he takes it. He made use of information in the public domain to pinch some easy money in the days before Betfair had staff on course to ensure the markets are suspended before the result is announced.

We can only hope the people who employ such a bookmaker act on this own goal and take a step to clean the public image of racing.

Interpretation of the data is key along with stripping out all the subjective rubbish people get paid to produce for the sheep customers of dinosaur publishers. TurfTrax sectionals had the potential to be useful but with the partial coverage of courses it was of very limited use.

Good to see some balance to this thread. If people think Hamilton Park is in a bad area there is no hope for them. There are probably more millionaires living within a five mile radius of the course than any other in Scotland!!!

Let the dinosaurs of Timeform and Raceform continue for those who think the output is of value.

Get a good source of raw data and build your own database (or get someone else) . Coders are available for very small cost these days and if you are good at managing them remotely its simple to build a customised database.

Drone you have a fair point in considering possibility to be a more accurate term than probability.

When this thread started I was firmly in the same camp as Artemis that it was certain to fail on a regular basis and go down as another mug punter get rich easy scheme. I then started to consider the goal posts have been moved with so many favourites now being dictated by the mass exchange market rather than the small on-course market. However the real world stats don’t confirm this.

    The SR for favs over the last 17 years is as follows;

    1991 37%
    1992 37%
    1993 36%
    1994 35%
    1995 36%
    1996 35%
    1997 35%
    1998 35%
    1999 35%
    2000 35%
    2001 33%
    2002 34%
    2003 36%
    2004 32%
    2005 31%
    2006 34%
    2007 34%
    2008 34%

Obviously the first half of 2008 is spot on the average performance.

I wonder if the support for this theft is from the younger members of the forum? Of course the support could be from losers desperate to get money from a bookmaker using any means legal or not.

This is a clear case of fraud I cannot condone this even against the evil mass market bookmakers.

Must be missing something obvious here?

This system is called First Favourite.

Selections to be C&D winners and have won last two races.

Bet is a lay on these selections.

There has only been one blatant case of a jockey deliberately jumping off a horse (not off) in recent years.
