The Scoop 6 seems to have died a death with the pools being smaller than the Placepot at the main Saturday meeting.

I’m not sure what can be done to revive it, I guess like the Lottery once people realise for their £2 stake they have very little chance of collecting they don’t bother with it.

Very true and well said, when I first started getting interested in racing and watching it when C4 took over McCririck was one of the reasons why I became more and more interested.

He was one of 2 people I feel who shook up the cosy coverage of racing on TV and to me Aussie Jim McGrath was the other with his modern (at the time) commentaries and they both made racing and punting seem exciting to me.

Decent jump racing at Chepstow tomorrow totally ignored by terrestrial TV which is a shame

The TV racing seemed so much more special before the days of the racing channels especially for jumps fans, there was nothing from the Swinton Hurdle day through to the Chepstow meeting I think on TV.

A lot of jumps fixtures I enjoyed seem to have gone missing now such as the Newbury Friday meeting on BBC2 before the Saturday flat meeting on Grandstand later this month.

I used to look forward to this Saturdays Chepstow card eagerly as it was always the first proper days jumping on the TV. There was the 4yo handicap hurdle plus I think it was the Mercedes Benz handicap chase now it is just a bog standard non televised Saturday fixture.

I always prefer a proven 3 miler than a ‘sexy’ horse stepping up to 3 miles, at the moment Long Run for me is a banker to be placed

Managed to crack the Market Rasen PP today :D

Didn’t quite pay enough to retire on though :)

The Chester one was far from easy, imo, but agree that the divi was higher than one would expect.

It wasn’t that the dividend was high it was the fact that the pool was over £1.5million !!! That is more than double the pool at the Cheltenham festival and 10 times the Newmarket pool today.

Why and where would someone put so much into a meeting that wasn’t even on C4 and was 4th in importance today ?

It will be interesting if whoever has been manipulating the pools is now doing the placepot and could lead to more freakish dividends, maybe worth keeping an eye on the pools before the 1st race

Just not riding the same quality of horse at the moment as he once did, he has become a forgotten man since his suspension

I used to love watching the jump racing at Haydock with the Aintree type fences but now it is just like Southwell.

I’m not sure why they were allowed to change the course so much and still keep the big races.

I just hope his last calls at Ascot go off ok on Saturday as there are a couple of large handicaps and it would be horrible if his abiding memory is making a pigs ear of one of the races.

I gave up going racing on Saturdays for exactly that reason, thousands of people with no interest in the sport just in getting hammered as quickly as they can.

11/2 winner at Newton Abbot paid £1.10 last weekend, seems to be a lot of freak dividends at the moment

May as well as not bothered having a hearing, it has just made them look a laughing stock.

Looks like they are scared of Godolphin quitting the British racing scene, but if that was what a proper investigation caused then so be it.

Had made mistakes before so one blunder too many, not sure how he could have seriously studied the photo properly and made the decision in the time he took.
