In 2005 I had 20/1 Footstepsinthesand for the 2000 Guineas and 20/1 Virginia Waters for the 1000 Guineas. Wish I’d had the double !
If it were to happen, then my average of 187 on betfair laid off at 32’s for Thunder Snow to win next years 2000 Guineas will become my favourite.
Sea the Stars at 16/1 to win the 2000 Guineas was another good one.
I can’t think of any others as mostly they lose or do not even run.
Ventura Storm won at San Siro today. An Italian G1 at 12f.
I Have backed Churchill for this at an average of 8.93 on Betfair and also got big prices on Thunder Snow who was only beaten in the Champagne Stakes by Rivet.
Of the ones that have raced and are entered I like “Wings of Eagles” trained by A P O’Brien and “Waldgeist” trained by Andre Fabre.
From the unraced with entries I like “Crystal Ocean” trained by Sir Michael Stoute who is entered in the division 2 of the Maiden at Newbury on Saturday and I am quite taken by the breeding of “Nathan Mayer”, also in training with Sir Michael Stoute and possibly the Aga Khan owned “Saroush” n training with Alain De Royer Dupree.
There are no prices quoted on Betfair for any of these but I will go tomorrow to the local bookies and see what they will quote for the Irish and English ones, I’m not holding my breath that I get prices that I would like to hear from them.
I have been looking at the Derby entries for next year and quite like the breeding of the unraced Crystal Ocean and Nathan Mayer both in training with Sir Michael Stoute and also an Aga Khan owned unraced colt called Sarosh who is in training in France. The only one given an entry in the remaining top 2 year old races is Crystal Ocean who has an entry in the Dewhurst which is only 3 weeks away. Does anyone have any knowledge about these 3 at all?
The unbeaten 6 times winner Lady Eli at Saratoga. last time out she was 4/5.
One I particularly like is “Days Like These” by Jamie Reid.
It is a good book to read a few weeks before the Cheltenham Festival.

I have small amounts antepost on Ultra, Moonlight Magic and Mr Khalid.
The last time I won with an antepost Derby bet was in 2008, New Approach.

Not sure if I spelt that correctly.
