On my ‘system’ of backing supplemented horses in Group races, Dartmouth ranks a five star EW bet at 6/1.
I know our dear old Queen is worth a few bob, but it cannot be easy for M Stoute to recommend supplementing: his reputation is on the line more than anything else (I’m assuming here of course that HRH hasn’t picked up her mobi and dialled his number).
I like the horse, too. Improving and tough and twice a winner here.
July 18, 2016 at 16:36 #1256552This looks like a terrible renewal. A further sign that the race has lost it’s lustre.
I don’t think Postponed will have to do much to win the race again.
July 18, 2016 at 19:29 #1256565Postponed is a proper racehorse no matter what turned up he was always going to bridle this. Double him with Minding in the Nassau…that is the biggest cert bet I have ever seen. Postponed and Minding at evens what a serious bet that is. Can’t lose at all literally both have to drop dead.
July 18, 2016 at 19:59 #1256566Well that’s that sorted then

I thought the Gurkha was a cert last time?
There is generally no desire on forums for people tipping two hot odds on shots for a double.
Stevie Wonder can see those bets himself.
My double last Saturday was Franklin D at 6/1 and Mrs Danvers at 8/1 but I am not putting them on this site now because it is causing bad feeling and accusations of egotism.
Regarding this race Postponed does not have much to beat.
I don’t share Joe’s enthusiasm for Dartmouth because Stoute is only 3/34 this past 14 days and less than 9% for a strike rate. I feel that was a poor race last time with hot favourite Exosphere rubbish, Seamie Heffernan was rubbish, dropping his whip and weak in a finish anyway.
Absolutely forced to pick one, I would take Erupt at 11/1. He started his career well and ran in much better races than this rubbish last year. Came back to something like form behind Silverwave last time and at the odds he would be a small semblance if each-way value in an awful race.
Quite why Shogun keeps appearing in these top races is a mystery to me. He’s not good enough and is still a maiden winner and an awful maiden at that.
Maybe they are hoping to fluke a place in a Group 1 for Fastnet Rock. Usually when I see a horse sired by Fastnet Rock I move swiftly on. Not a sire for me I am afraid.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 18, 2016 at 22:40 #1256574I honestly can not understand some peoples mentality…they say they aren’t interested in a bet that is even money.
Its free money and your not interested? If someone came up to you in the street and said here is 5k you wouldn’t take it? Of course you would and this is the case here, both horses are absolute bridle jobs! If you don’t have a big lump on these two at evens you need to pack the sport in!July 18, 2016 at 23:41 #1256576I honestly can not understand some peoples mentality…they say they aren’t interested in a bet that is even money.

Get a grip on yourself, why would I want your sappy Even money double when I landed a 62/1 double myself?
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 19, 2016 at 10:09 #1256604perhaps gore could apply to be the new pricewise?
July 19, 2016 at 15:04 #1256617I’ve backed Erupt in the “Betting without Postponed” Market
11/2 without the favourite looked very fair and with 1/5th the odds 1-2-3, 4th place could be good enough to cover the bet and 2nd to the hot favourite will pay out more than backing the winner will.
It looks a safe bet.
Mind you I thought I had a corker with Fascinating Rock in the betting without Australia market a couple of years ago and the horse ran the worst race of his life by some margin.
Betting without Postponed:-
Erupt 11/2, each way 1/5th the odds 1-2-3 (Paddy Power)

That is actually probably the best bet in the race as in my mind Erupt is the only horse who could possibly upset Postponed. His 5th in the Arc (and a red hot one at that) is something I very much doubt Dartmouth or Highland Reel would be capable of. Ignore his run behind A Shin Hikari (too many good horses ran shockers there) and his second in the Grand Prix de Saint Cloud should be good enough to see him in the first three – and he came from an awful long way back that day.
I concur that @ 11/2 w/o’Postponed is the bet.
July 19, 2016 at 18:59 #1256627The other firm(s) to price up the betting without the favourite, (ToteSport/BetFred) only go 7/2 for Erupt.
That makes 11/2 look big and I must admit 11/2 was more than I expected.

July 19, 2016 at 20:02 #1256633I avoid betting on anything trained by AOB and I’m not a fan of Postponed but thanks for the tips and GL

The problem is you have landed a 62/1 double yes well done, but the amount of bets you lossed to land that would be phenomenal, you probably lost thousands of bets before you landed that. That’s the problem. This is a risk free bet and guaranteed to double what ever you stake. This is why I am in horse racing. Yes we all like the silly bets at £20 hoping your 6 horses come in but when you get certs you have to slam them. That is the only way to win in horse racing. I remember when I had thousands on solow to beat the donkey grey gatsby in the duty free. Solow was 3/1 and gatsby was 5/4 or 6/4 haha! I didn’t like postponed either but this year he has been excellent and it would take a very good one to beat him this year. He will be unbeaten until the Arc where he has a big chance of winning but I see minding/le cressionere winning that.

I don’t think people who claim that a bet is a risk free way of doubling your money, are a good asset to a Racing Forum, particularly one which is ostensibly about intelligent discussion.

July 19, 2016 at 22:08 #1256646Stevie boy…on a serious note now. Have you won more than you have lost? And don’t lie please because you know and I know the truth
