    No I didn’t either
I thought last year was poor but this year has been worse as far as the big races goes
Next year doesn’t exactly whet the appetite either with Stable star Mehmas hitting the sheds
3rd in the trainers table but has had a lot of runners more than double that of Gosden in 2nd
Team Hannon has always been blessed and associated with good two years from distances up to a mile. When Richard Junior took over the master seat he said they were looking to change that with better pedigree types that improve with age and distance along with attracting better owners. Early days yet but not a too promising a start.

You only have to look at the total winners that Sean Levey and Pat Dobbs rode during the flat championship season, to know something was very wrong with the yard.

    Sean Levey 32–334 10%
    Pat Dobbs 31–351 9%

Compare that to newly crowned champion joyckey Jim Crowley’s 46 winners in one month.

    Richard Hannon 151–1207 13%

If you look at the total winners junior had, it looks impressive, but when you realise that they have up to 200+ horses in the two yards, the total winners figure becomes less impressive.

One of Hannon’s yards is just up a track near me. Whisper is, he’s had a bad virus been difficult to get rid of.

    Whisper is?

What’s the point of Racing’s Integrity department checking people for carrying ulcer treatments to the races when punters are left uninformed about yards where a virus is seriously affecting the form of horses?

Isn’t it time that trainers were obliged by the terms of their license to report a virus in the yard?

Only a whisper, might not be true. If reporting every virus then trainers would be constantly reporting them non-stop. Those trainers who do report viruses would get hit by owners leaving or not sending horses there – so can understand them being reticent. Although do agree they should report particularly troublesome viruses.
That said, punters need only take a glance at trainer’s results to have noticed something hasn’t been right for a very long time. So if not noticing the poor form punters only really have themselves to blame.

Hannon’s problems are not helped with Levey and Dobbs not being up to a top job.

    You been sneezing again Ginge..?
Seriously though we could pop up and see Mr Hannon, I could clean his windows and get the Avon book out for his better half (free biscuit and a cup of tea), whilst you lay the carpet and talk percentages with the boss. We wait till he’s in good form and a bit more prize money in his pocket then strike hard and fast.

The Hannons are well known for their hospitality Nathan. Doubt it would be “tea”.
When the West Berkshire Racing Club went there, a case was brought up from the cellar. ;-)

Cups of tea only now ginge with his run of form….. :-(

I think you make a good point about the jockey situation though. I like Levey and Dobbs but they don’t replace the experience and skill of Richard Hughes and the feed back, discussion and input he gave them was priceless.

Right on cue, Ventura Storm….
Triptych said this was Hannon’s best horse to look out for at the start of the season, ran a blinder in the Leger.
Another thing with the jockeys is that the big owners these days all have their own jockeys. ie Hanagan and Dettori etc, even when Hanagan wasn’t onboard Eqtiraan the last day it was Timmy Murphy that got the leg up so it’s not like Levey or Dobbs are getting the cream rides from the yard.
