To be honest, LM, I think the answer to that is reasonably simple – "Yank" is not a universally derogatory term.
If Dirk had been of Italian descent and had been called a "boring wop", or of Spanish descent and been called a "boring spic", that would have been equally as offensive as calling Shilpa a "boring Paki". All are used in a racist context.
I can’t understand comments like "Most definitely bullying – but that happens all the time". It does indeed happen all the time. It shouldn’t. It certainly shouldn’t be allowed to happen without comment in such a public arena because that adds to it a veneer of acceptability.
Lolly’s Mate, you are right that bullying has happened before in BB but the answer, surely, is not to dismiss the criticism of this incident because it has been lent racial overtones but to use it to emphasise the unacceptability of bullying in general.
davidjohnson,in the words of Russell Brand…
SHUT UP
More like the words of Jade Goody.
Anyway, it seems to me that Hen is very good with some types of horse. Not sure that she hasn’t lost confidence in herself a bit, to be honest – she seems to be a little bit lost where Racing Demon is concerned.
I’m really getting it ripped out of me for being a Brit over here ÂÂÂ
Which is one reason why it is not a "big fuss over nothing" – I don’t particularly want to be labelled a racist because I am British!
In any event, even if no "racism" is involved – and I do believe some of the stuff we have seen amounts to racism – there is bullying. ÂÂÂ

It depends entirely upon the individual …
Ah, well – first the, er, Dream Team:
Presenters
Claire Balding (knows her stuff and holds it together well)
Robert Cooper (great entertainment)
Paddock
John Francome (because he knows a thing or two about horses and I really don’t give a s**t if he knows the form book because I don’t bet)
Commentator
Who else could it be but Simon Holt?
Interviews
aargh! No idea – just wish someone would shove Thommo’s mike where the sun don’t shine
Booth
Sean Boyce
and now … the Nightmare Team …
Presenters
Richard Pitman and Willie Carson
Paddock
Peter Scudamore
Commentator
Any one from Mike Cattermole, Thommo and Graham Goode
Interviews
Thommo without his mike inserted where the sun don’t shine
Betting Ring
Any of ’em !
Thirded. What a tosspot … (Hmm. Possibly the wrong word – I’m sure tossing a pancake would be far too simple for him:angry: )
I’m old and I like Muse
(Oh, bugger, why didn’t somebody tell me the batteries had gone in me ear trumpet …. :old:)
Aga-bloody-doo …………………
Midnight Court
I don’t think he was necessarily injured at Sandown – as far as I can see, the injury didn’t manifest itself until this Monday-ish, so may be a training injury. Might be wrong, though ..
Monet’s Garden
Brilliant!!!
Hugh McIlvanney is a favourite of mine, too. I recall an amazing piece he wrote after the death of Lanzarote in the Gold Cup.
Musical Chairs
Moody Man
My very first bet (I have had no more than half a dozen since) was on Le Duc in his juvenile novice hurdle season – unfortunately, I backed him in the Triumph and not at Aintree ..
